My last message, posted on 4/30/05 was deleted for some reason. Here it is again:

I just purchased (on 4/25/05) a 2005 Nissan Murano SL FWD with Touring Package, Vehicle Dynamic Control and a few misc. add ons (cargo area protector, floor mats, splash guard, roof rail cross-bars and sunroof wind deflector) in the Los Angeles area, for $600.00 under invoice. Invoice was $32,118, and I paid $31,518 (before factory rebate). This ended up being $33,949.70 out the door ($31,518 + $45.00 Doc. prep. fee + $2603.95 sales tax + $266.00 license fee + $8.00 registration fee + $8.75 California tire fee - $500 factory rebate).
I would estimate that I spent 40-50 hours on research, test driving, etc. before making my decision. In soliciting bids, I contacted perhaps 25 dealers in Los Angeles, Orange, Ventura, Riverside and San Bernardino County areas in Southern California. My experiences varied widely, but three (3) dealerships in particular (or at least the internet departments) I would recommend highly. They are (1) Performance Nissan of Duarte; (2) Dch Nissan of Buena Park and (3) Wondries Nissan of Alhambra. All three (and particularly #2, followed by #1) gave excellent service, good pricing, etc.

I went to Nissan in Bergen county NJ today and was able to get this deal:

2005 Murano SL AWD with touring package and VDC
    36 Mos, 12,000 mi a year
$420 a month and only first month out of pocket.

I was trying to get him down to $411 like someone else did in the earlier post but was unable to do so, I liked the guy anyway so I let him have the $324. He's got to eat too.

Brought a Murano through the dealer's internet department. They quoted me a price at $700 below invoice including rebate, but I used a lower quote from a another dealer to negotiate $800 below invoice + $500 rebate, Total $1300 below invoice. It is an SL AWD in black w/ black interior, DVD Movie player, Navigation, VDC, technology package, SL touring package, Roof Crossbars, Splash guards, Cargo area protector, floor mats, Bose radio/6 disc changer, etc... haven't figured out everything yet, but I think the only thing it doesn't have is the tow hitch and satellite radio. Extra $380 to have wheel locks, rear bumper guard strip, and front grille tube bar put on. Total paid was $37,889 (including Price, Accessories, taxes, dealer fees, registration) -$17 requested back because they over quoted an accessory. The MSRP w/o the accessories was $40,560. They said they made $236 on the deal w/ the holdback, but I think they made more. For financing, I used a credit union 3.49% for 84 months ($400/month), put $7889 down, financing $30k..

Got my SL FWD w/ leather package 2 weeks ago from Performance Nissan in Duarte. Deal was done over emails. No hassle . They even went and got my car from another dealer - they didn't have the one I wanted. Also got $600 below invoice. Excellent dealership -no pressure, straight shooter - ask for Danny ( Internet Sales Mgr ) He was the 1st one to reply to my emails to 12 dealerships.

Your post is the ultimate in grinding out a deal. Even the $17 refund resulted in raised eyebrows on my end. Did you get a quote on what your deal would have resulted had you leased this vehicle? I'm very curious if your dealer would respond with that info. The Murano is one vehicle I'm looking at although, more so for it's content/price point.

    1stmo,

The wife and I are thinking about a Murano, and I would like to know what dealer in St, Louis you used, and how did you work such a good deal?

    Thanks.
  • fred21fred21 Member Posts: 5
What city did you purchase ? I have been looking for the same with all the above options as you have mentioned but have not been able to get a good deal. The best deal I was offered was $300 over invoice.

Let me amend my last listing as follows:
"2005 Nissan Murano SL FWD with Touring Package, Vehicle Dynamic Control, XM satellite radio and a few misc. add ons (cargo area protector, floor mats, splash guard, roof rail cross-bars and sunroof wind deflector) in the Los Angeles area, for $600.00 under invoice."

Sounds like an excellent deal. I got $600.00 under invoice for a 2005 SL FWD w/ Touring, VDC, Sat. Radio, etc. Looking at it from a dealer profit point of view, however, yields the following. According to Edmunds, Nissan has the following holdback policy: "2% + 1% of the Total Invoice (holdback + floorplanning allowance)". In my case, the MSRP was $35,190, so the holdback was $1055.70, minus the $600.00 below invoice = $455.70 profit. In your case, if MSRP is, $40,560, the holdback is 1216.80, minus the $800.00 below invoice = $416.80 profit. I would assume, however, that there is a greater degree of profit on the wheel locks, bumper guard strip, front grille tube etc, but can't quantify it. Therefore, the actual profits on each transaction may have been very similar. Of course, even if the absolute profit was the same, since the basis (cost) of your vehicle is greater. you held the dealer to a lower relative (percentage) profit, so you win. Congratulations. I think it was a good deal, no matter how examined.

Yes, Performance Nissan was excellent, although for top marks to the best price initially provided (although met by Performance Nissan (Duarte), I would have to give the nod to Dch Nissan of Buena Park. One thing that really struck me about Performance Nissan of Duarte, however, is the extraordinary effort they put into making the purchasing experience an excellent one. I agreed to purchase the vehicle sight unseen, subject to rejection (they had to go out to another dealer to pick it up). When I arrived to get it, around 8:00 p.m., they let me go on an extensive test drive, without a dealer accompanying me, and once I got back, carefully went through all the documents, made me as comfortable as they could, did not put any pressure on me to get the dealer standard add-ons, and spent about half an hour going through the vehicle afterwards and explaining all sorts of features (I gather this was part of a mandatory check list). Really, a much more pleasant, professional and easy experience than I anticipated.

Just completed a deal with Jerry's Nissan outside of Ft Worth, TX. Paid $1000 below invoice for an '05 Midnight Blue SL with latte cloth and premium pkg. Worked through the internet manager who made it very easy to buy. No hassle, no pressure to buy the extras. I highly recommend Jerry's Nissan as worth the drive 15 miles west of FW. ;)

I bought my MO at Sunthrup in south county. The price I paid has been advertised in the Post paper from a dealer in Alton IL. They are still advertising this price of $29995. You should be able to show that to any dealer and they will match it. Just turned 500 miles and everything is still working great. Mileage thus far has been 19mpg and that is all stop and go driving. I do not take highway to work. Good luck on your purchase.

Are there rumors out there that the Murano is due for a major revamp in '06? If that is the case, there should be some good deals to be had coming up on the end of model year 05's. Can anyone confirm the revamp?

    Thanks
  • thenebeanthenebean Member Posts: 1,124
i dont believe there will be any major revamping...maybe a minor refresh - but i havent even heard anything on that yet. any major revamp wont be for another couple of years at least.

I'd look at the European version of the Murano that just came out to see some of the incremental changes you might expect for 2006. Messages 2414 and 2416 in the Nissan Murano board mention some UK websites with Murano reviews (parkers, autoexpress, one other one); one says 1300 modifications to the US model, another says 300, but it seems like incremental changes rather than a major revision.

My company has a deal with Nissan that allows us to buy cars below invoice - it's called the VPP. I just picked up my Murano last week and I wanted to share (ok, brag!) about the price I got ($3,000 below sticker).

2005 Murano SL FWD (Merlot/Tan leather), Leather Package, Wood-Tone Trim, Floor Mats, Splash Guards, Cargo Area Protector, Roof Rail Crossbars, Sunroof Wind Deflector.

    Sticker: 33,190

    Price Paid: 30,163 (vehicle) + 2443 (tax) + 369 (documentation) + 505 (license) + 9 (title/tire fee), for a grand total of $33,489.

The doc fee is high, but the automall I bought it in charges each dealer $200 per car. The license fee is high, but that's what they charge here in Phoenix, Arizona.

They also threw in window tint - n/c.

We just signed a deal for a 2005 Murano S, AWD, convenience pack + some extras: mudflaps, floor mats, trunk protector. 12K miles, total down out of pocket = $2334, 35 remaining monthly payments of $249. There were 100 miles on the Murano but the dealer started our lease @199 miles.

We had 2 payments to go on a lease of a RAV 4 and the dealer paid off the residual balance of our RAV 4 lease (not the payments, they bought the vehicle from Toyota). I think we got a pretty good deal.

    This is in eastern Massachusetts.
  • lumbarlumbar Member Posts: 421
Sounds pretty good to me! Mind sharing what the residual buy on it is, and what your $2334 covered (guessing 1st month, security dep. acqusition fee + modest cap cost reduction) ?
  • dkauf46552dkauf46552 Member Posts: 2
We put down first month, small cap cost reduction plus tax (on that) and title/reg. I'm not sure what they considered for residual; we were just looking to get rid of the old lease. We would have been simply giving the car back to the dealer anyway. With 2 payments of $320/month left on the lease, we saved an additional $140. We're happy.
  • jfairjfair Member Posts: 1
Anyone think this is an ok deal? 2005 Murano SL AWD with Navigation for around $385 a month for a 36 month lease with $2,000 down which is all fees and first months payment. Thanks....

I want to take advantage of Nissan's lease deal on a 2005 Nissan Murano SL w/Touring package. The advertised deal of $359/36months seems pretty good. MSRP is $35660 and cap cost is $32147. My wife has a 2001 VW Beetle GLX with a trade-in value of around $10K and we owe $4K. The question I have is do you think a dealer would cut us a check for 6K and allow us to make the initial lease payment of $2000 from this. This way we pocket around $4000. Will they go for this? Or will they demand the tade-in be used as a cap-cost reduction?

I live in Illinois, but am moving to Colorado in three months. If I lease here will I get double charged for taxes or the use fees in CO? I heard that tags are like 1,000 per year. Is that really possible???
  • jmaxejmaxe Member Posts: 198
If you want to keep any cash you should sell it yourself.

I just got 2005 Murano SL AWD from Frost Nissan in MA.
They have the special discount for eVIP customers.
I have all the options except DVD, GPS and VCD and paid $31900 without title and tax. :surprise: The MSRP was $35666.
    The special discount end TOMORROW.
  • thenebeanthenebean Member Posts: 1,124
i think it depends on the dealer...we have in the past cut a check to people for their trade, and worked out circumstances such as the one you are describing. will every dealer do it? probably not. can you find one who will? im sure you can. present that as part of the deal you are looking to make - negotiate it like you would anything else. tell them that in order to make the deal, it needs to work out as follows.

good luck with your purchase of a new murano - you'll love it!

I just purchased a 2005 Nissan Murano SL with Touring package and other extra's (splash guard, floor mats, roof rails, etc). MSRP $34,260, sale price was $30,720, lease payment with tax (7.75%) $384 per month, $720 drive off cost. 36 month lease, 12k miles per year.

I went to a local dealer to test drive the car, then I requested dealer quotes from about 15 dealers (via the internet) with in a 2 hour drive of my house. I had a quote of $31,000 from a dealer about 90 minutes away. I went back to the dealer I test drove the car at and told him my deal, I told him if he could match the price I would buy the car on the spot. He beat the price by $300, and with $500 less in drive offs, so I saved about $800. :D

    Hi all,
I'm going to lease a Murano SL FWD this weekend. I'm aware of the 36 month lease money factor of .0008 specifically for the 36 month lease only and the $500.00 consumer rebate through 05/31/05. I have a few questions:

What are you getting out there for the dealer "bank fee/acquisition" fee??? Is there a standard number from NMAC??

Are there any "end of lease" fees that is standard with NMAC??

Did you get hit for any advertising fees???

Someone mentioned on the forum here about an extra 1% floor planning allowance over and above the 2% standard holdback. Is this still available or was it a regional spiff??? I bought the consumer reports Wholesale price sheet and did not see this extra 1% listed anywhere.

    Thanks in advance!!

    All,
Buying a SL FWD vehicle in the next day or so. I'm aware that the $500.00 consumer rebate does NOT apply for the 3% financing special. But I can't find any hard information on the net regarding this rebate with leases. I'm going to lease the vehicle and the dealer said the $500.00 rebate does not apply on leases. He pulled out the current sheets from Nissan but with computers these days who knows. I'd rather get third party confirmation of this fact. They were honest up front with the correct 36 month .0008 money factor and .59 (12K)/.58 (15K) residual values.

    Thanks!

Just purchased an '05 Murano SL AWD with Touring Package in Maryland. Price out the door was about $32700 and included cargo area protector, floor mats, wheel locks and sun roof deflector. Also negotiated the ability to purchase a few accessories (front bumper protector, rear bumper protector and splash guards) at employee pricing for the parts and labor. The pricing for the parts seems similar to what I saw on the web for after market accessories.

Does this sound like a good deal to people?

Also, what are people's thoughts on the extended warranty? They tried to sell it too me (about $850 for the 5 year/60000 mile) and I turned it down because it's not wear and tear and I wouldn't need it for the first three years anyway. Compared to AAA rates it didn't seem like such a bad deal because it included roadside assistance but if you look at the actual roadside assistance company they use you can get that by itself for $55 or $85 depending on the coverage level.

Is anyone using a different extended warranty provider? Anyone use a roadside assistance company other then AAA?

    Thanks

    Todd

you cannot get the $500 with a lease - they aren't yanking your chain. yes, i do work for a nissan dealer, but i see no reason for them to be so honest and up front about everything else only to yank your chain on where the rebate is available. good luck with your purchase!

Nissan website says "See your Dealer for June incentives". Is it that the dealer has them but the web site hasn't got them up or there aren't any and you'll just have to see what the dealer offers?
  • thenebeanthenebean Member Posts: 1,124
i work at a nissan dealer - and we have not yet received the incentives for June. they should be coming in via fax at some point today however. i think it's not on nissan's site because they haven't updated it yet.

no changes to the incentives - still $500 rebate or 3% for 36 months, 4% for 48-60 months!

    no lease numbers yet...

  • lumbarlumbar Member Posts: 421
I'm assuming the $500 is only for purchases, which leads to my real question. For anyone who has leased, do you feel you got as much pricing flexibility from the dealer (i.e., negotiation) as if you'd bought? Theroetically, I don't think there should be a diff (except maybe for rebate), but sometimes this isn't the case. thene, love to hear your view also.
  • cigatooluccigatooluc Member Posts: 1
    1stmo,

Sounds like you got a great price. Would you mind sharing exactly what accessories were included? Also, were you given an invoice price to compare it to?
    Thanks
  • thenebeanthenebean Member Posts: 1,124
there shouldnt be any difference - our dealership will price out a car, and it doesnt matter whether its lease or purchase. will all dealers be the same? no - chances are, because lease payments are usually lower than purchase, they will try to hold money somewhere. to avoid this, ask for sale price, and then lease payments. that way, you know what you are getting.

    i guess it just depends!

What was themoney factor in May? I leased my Murano two weeks ago, the money factor was less then .001 so I thought it was a good deal.
  • blumuranoblumurano Member Posts: 1
I just purchased my blue 05 FWD Murano SE w/ Touring, VDC, Roof rack, splash guards, sunroof wind deflector, floor mats, cargo covers. for an out the door price of $35,005. The sale of the car was basically invoice -300 (costco special) and -500 Mfr Rebate. I didn't really spent the time haggling because I pretty much found out that the options and colors I wanted were very limited (2 in Southern california).

I don't know if this is a good deal, but maybe some of you may use this as a leverage at the bargaining table.

By the way, I really love this car.... I was debating between the Murano and Infiniti FX. This car gets slightly better milage and of course its 3-4 K less than the FX (with all of my options) and the handling (at least on the SE) is pretty much the same as an FX without the sport package.
  • thenebeanthenebean Member Posts: 1,124
money factor in may was .00080

not a huge change by any means - you still got a great deal! :-D

I want to lease a 2005 SL with SL leather package and that is it. Does anyone have an idea of a fair price for a 36 month lease 12k miles. in Florida where tax is 6%. Also what the inception or drive off costs would be. thank you for any help
  • thenebeanthenebean Member Posts: 1,124
you should probably be in the range of $350 or so, with just inception fees down. I am taking a stab in the dark based on what i've seen prices go for. inceptions will probably be in the range of $1500-$2000 max. hope that helps! im sure someone here who has leased a murano similar to yours can give you a better idea - we don't do many JUST leather SL Muranos - people just go for the Touring instead.

Since thene has been kind enough to provide us with the .00077 money factor, I think you can come pretty close to figuring this out with the help of some Edmunds info. I have done this for an "S" with convenience package and came out to only a little over $310 mo. with only 1st month, acquisition fee, and security dep. down, although our taxes are exactly 50% of Florida's. I think the residual is 59% but car man over one the "lease questions" board can help you with that as well. As I said, with the MSRP from Edmunds, the money factor, and the residual, you can plug in your buying price (I'd try no more than invoice) and figure out the lease payment by reading this at Edmunds: link title

IMO, with the low money factor and the prospect of dealers being flexible on the selling price, this is a good time to consider a Murano lease. And don't let the dealer tell you there's no negotiating the "selling" price of leased vehicles.
  • thenebeanthenebean Member Posts: 1,124
i ran the lease based on a selling price of invoice so you have an idea of what to expect. i am in CT and our sales tax is 6% also.

    SL AWD
    leather package
    cargo area protector
    floor mats
    splash guards
    roof rack crossbars

    MSRP: $34,440
    Invoice: $31,488
    36 month lease
    12k miles per year
    $1792.97 due at signing
    59% residual
    .00077 Money factor
    Base payment $350.12 plus tax
    Total Payment: $371.13

this is using our registration and our dealer conveyance fee ($249) which may change for you in FL. if you negotiate a better deal than invoice, say, $400 below, payments with tax would be about $358.66

    hope that helps!

You have been very helpful and I am sure I am going to save between 30 and 40 a month as to what I was quoted originally. The vehicle I was looking at had an Msrp of 32,730 Hopefully I will get it at 360 with taxes included. Thanks again everyone has been very helpful.

you must be looking at a FWD Murano then (i am in the northeast, and its just habit to look up AWD - most people (if not everyone i've sold one to) wants AWD here. if the price difference is about $1800 like you say, you should be able to get that price easily. good luck with your purchase!

Just Leased my first Nissan. Have had a GM vehicle since the day I got my license over 15 years ago. Leased the Nissan Murano in May.

    SL AWD Fully loaded
    including
    Touring Package
    Rear DVD Entertainment System
    Navigation
    Vehicle Dynamic Controls
    In Glacier Pearl
    MSRP was $40,180

Love the vehicle, can't wait to drive it each day. Owned a Buick Rendezvous prior to the Murano (hard to believe that the 2 vehicles are in the same class). The Nissan drives so smooth with the CVT, and the ride is quiet. Love the interior features of the vehicle.

    Deal I got:

    MSRP: $40,180
Got invoice pricing due to the company I work for

    3 year / 45k Lease
$930 out of pocket at signing (inc. sec dep and first month)
    $415.35 a month.

    Not too bad.
