i found out the residual because i work at a nissan dealer, so i have all the numbers in front of me. each murano trim level (and awd vs. fwd) have different residuals. so while 59% works for one, it may not for the other. also, it makes a difference if you lease for 12k miles or 15k miles, as the residual changes for those two options as well. a lease is basically calculated as such
cap cost (selling price of the vehicle) vs. MSRP
any lease cash,
residual
money factor (interest rate)
how much the consumer is putting down ($0, just inceptions, or more)
all of that is magically calculated by our computers to get you a lease payment. :P
usually, a lease payment would be close to a finance deal if you extended it to 72 months - as a rule of thumb. its not always accurate, but its a good way to give you a general idea!

I am only getting 16-18 MPG (mostly city).
I tried 91 oct. for 3 tanks, I got about 0.5 to 0.75 MPG better. Now with 91 oct at $2.99 (here in Southern California) I am back to 87 oct.
Doing the math, if 91 oct is 20 cents more per gallon then 87, you would need to average 1 MPG better. :shades:

ATTENTION: To All Nissan Murano Owners
Please be advised that Nissan will be recalling all Muranos from 2003 -2005 due to a broken wire in the alternator, the wire could break inside the alternator and prevent the battery from recharging. The carger warning and the brake warning lamps could come on and the battery would start discharging. After a short time, the engine go into a condition that limits the vehicle's speed and stop running, creating the potential for a crash.
I thought that all of you should be aware of this problem and spread this information to others that own the Murano.
And, to think that I had the perfect SUV, however, all of us will take due notice of this issue and STILL appreciate the vehicle for its many excellent properties. We should be receiving a notice from Nissan North America giving us instructions about the nearest location to have this problem solved.
Hang in there, we still have the best performing, driving machine out there. The more that I drive my 2005 Murano, the more I like it.
Thanks!
Your detailed description of the Murano's recall, only gives me cold spine shivers, instead of peace of mind.
Not to mention the awfull gas mileage for such a hi-tech-ish vehicle.
Should we also expect a recall for this pretty soon?? Something like " tranny software replacement"...or "engine valves recalibration"....as rumors spread among eng community at Nissan Tech Center in Mi
Ooh, is this a made in Japan vehicle??:lemon:

Except for its eye catching style, this CUV , for the money you pay for compare to a sebring/stratus ( 30K+ vs 18K- before discounts), it is comparable with a sebring/stratus, from reliability p.o.v.
I am in contact with the Eng. community of Nissan Tech Ctr in Livonia, Mi, ( those dilligent chino-indians
Because so far it is full of quality issues starting with fit and finish, going through electrical and ending with powertrain. Sounds weird, ha??
When was the last time you heard about a 100% [non-permissible content removed] brand being recalled so massively ?
Dan
the sebring/stratus/etc issue has websites and forums dedicated to it - seemingly there are enough out there to warrant a recall, but chrysler/dodge decided not to recall it...
and i definitely wouldnt call the murano on par with the sebring/stratus twins quality wise - having both in the family, there are FAR more problems with the strat, than the murano!
from my little corner of the world...

The Nissan Murano is built and delivered from Japan, I certainly hope they can make the necessary repairs for a serious problem.
I really and truly appreciate my 2005 Nissan Murano SL, Front-Wheel Driven vehicle, with my trade-in and my invoice pricing out of the dealership, the purchase price was $13,000.00, that INCLUDES everything.
I purchased on June 28, 2005 and the car was delivered to my home, along with all necessary documentation. So far, I have not really tested the fuel efficiency with the Murano and am curious as to how economical this car will perform; with its smooth styling and aerodynamic design it should perform as expected if not better in that area, better than any other small, compact SUV on the marketplace.
Everyone out there that is an owner of a Murano, check your mailbox each day for a document from Nissan of North America with locations to take your vehicle in for inspection and repairs to your vehicles, of course this recall will be at Nissan's expense.
THAT'S ALL THAT I HAVE FOR ALL OF YOU AT THIS GIVEN TIME.
This recall affects... what... 150,000 units? Weren't almost 100,000 more Honda Accords affected by a recent airbag recall?
The Murano's had it's issues but... let stick to the facts.
and yes, facts are good!

I'm just pointing out that the Murano is hardly 100% Japanese and as a percentage of Murano's on the road, the recall is significant. But... there are larger, recent recalls issued from respectable Japanese manufacturers as well.
anyways, the styling, especially on the murano, is very european, and influenced greatly and the quirky french cars. though i dont think its bad to have a unique design philosophy like nissan has - sure it turns off some people, but it also turns other people on! it is very polarizing, and regardless of the feeling people have, at least they have one...nissan is being noticed - thats what counts

Also, I think the plastic on the door panels and the plastic on the dash, cheapen the look of the otherwise well done interior. Has anyone thought about changing / adding vinyl to match that of the door grip / inserts. Is that even doable ?
* SL AWD with SL touring
or
SL AWD with Sunroof package
Can u suggest pricing based on buying experiences. Thanks for your help in advance.
Look forward to hearing back on any info you can share on the 2006 Murano. Thanks.
My out of door price for my 2005 Nissan Murano, SL, 2wd was $13,500.00, I traded in my 2002 Altima and this was the difference and this included taxes and etc.
The Internet Salesman gave me invoice pricing of $25,200.00 minus the trade in of $13,500.00 and excellent negotiation by my experience in purchasing new cars, I drive a hard closing price to get what I want. My husband could never have negotiated such a deal, I am proud of my skills when purchasing a vehicle. Also, when thinking about buying a new vehicle, always and I mean always use the Internet to get the invoice price.
If you can possibly go to the Internet, feed in Mike Creque Nissan/Mazda, in Franklin/Cool Springs, Tennessee and get an Internet quote, providing that you are able to drive to the greater Nashville, Tennessee and an Internet Specialist will contact you with an email quote for your new, 2005 Nissan Murano.
You will be suprised at the limit they will go to earn your business, I highly recommend this dealership, I am a return buyer to the dealership when I purchased my 2002 Altima. Very satisfied with my closure.

Got it in san jose thru corporate vehicle purchase plan which is almost the same as the invoice listed in edmunds
I am looking to buy 2005 ASAP in Edison, New Jersey, and wondering what is best price for :
SL/SE w/ AWD and GPS and possibly BOSE system.
I don't care about Leather or heated seats etc etc... I know they will add all those unneccessary things just to Get GPS
I also have VPP, I think 2.5% off of invoice price.. not sure if this cheaper or normal way is cheaper... pls let me know.. I am very new to Edmunds too..
Thanks in advance.
I was eagerly waiting for 2006 too... I heard it would be released in OCTOBER..
depending on your negotiating skills, you may be able to do better than vpp, but why waste your time - it wont be that significant that you really have to fight for it...
-thene
the lease programs i have not seen, but i dont doubt that they have gotten worse - the lease on the murano was sooo aggressive last month...
sometimes if you hold out TOO long for a great deal, you dont get a deal at all!
-thene
Thanks :shades:
as far as i know on the 2006 models, there will be color changes, i have not heard anything regarding the interior or packages or trim levels...i would guess the arrival of the 06 models to the dealerships would be late fall, maybe october or november.

Yah Aftermarket is no good, I like things integrated..But any idea on how much INVOICE might be? So i can be prepared for it. Thx.
Glad I was able to touch base with you before you left. Any parting words or tips for someone that is looking to buy either an 05 or 06 Murano SL AWD fully loaded?
How hard or easy is it to have GPS and BOSE or some good CD/Tape player if i buy the basic model ?
Has anyone done the aftermarket GPS and Bose System? Thx.
