Hmmm, I think you could do better selling it yourself, and that is generally the case with any vehicle. Why not try listing it, and getting it certified, through Edmunds :confuse:

Your next car should be a 2007 Mo, AWD, with the Technology Package!

Leased a 2006 Murano last Friday, Sept 15. I had been shopping it around for a while and armed with my Consumer Reports dealer invoice report I was corresponding with several dealers via email. I was very specific about what I wanted, 0 down 39 month lease on a 2006 SL AWD, floor mats, splash guards, cargo protector, roof rack cross bars and VDC.

I was able to get what I think was a good deal, 0 down $655 out of pocket (first month, tag) for $418/month including tax. Not bad.

The transaction was very smooth at the dealership as I had negotiated everything before hand and there were no hidden surprises or bait and switch. All in all, it was a good experience.

I just purchased a new 2006 Nissan Murano SL AWD with touring package, splash guards, moonroof visor and floor and cargo mats for $32,451 + tax, title and license. The dealer was Rosen Nissan in Gurnee IL.

Where did you find the new 2006 SE AWD mentioned above for $32,606? That is a killer deal!!!

SF bayarea. Serramonte Nissan in Colma CA. I emailed more than 40 dealers around here and theirs was the lowest. Others weren't even close. I even asked other dealers to beat the price and noone even wanted to match it. I had a very good experience with this dealer.
I know that they have a SL AWD with same accessories for 31700.

I hope this doesn't sound too naive, but WHAT IS INVOICE? I have dealers saying I'll sell you for $100 over my cost, but how do I konw their cost VS MRSP? thanks, Pat :confuse:

    terry92270terry92270 Member Posts: 1,247
Invoice is the officially billed price the dealer pays Nissan for the car. MSRP is the price Nissan suggests it be sold for.

The invoice price isn't the net price they pay for it, however, as all car makers offer rebates and such, called "spiffs" to dealers who sell "x" number of cars per quarter, etc. There are many here more expert with all of that than I am, but that's basically how it works.

If a dealer says he is willing to sell for $100 over invoice, then ask to see it. Use places like edmunds.com to check what like-equipped cars are selling for in your area. :)

The exchange rate is irrelavant to my question becuase Murano is sold differently in Canada than US.

And FYI: XE.COM reports 0.900086 today. We haven't seen .81 for about 2 years now ;)

No idea, dude.....use the link I posted, look in the upper right box, it shows .81....guess different sites post different rates.

I know casino's in Vegas exchange at like a 30% discount, some friends in Toronto told me last month....

    Your link shows .897

I think you are looking at the column that shows the Canadian dollar is down .081 percent today..

$1.00 USD = 89 to 90 cents Canadian.. It has been around that number for awhile... no matter what your source..

You must be digging deeper, which I did not do...did you look where I specified :confuse:

    Box, upper right?

    Sep 26 - Sep 27
    EUR/USD -0.094 %
    CAD/USD -0.081 %
    JPY/USD +0.316 %
    AUD/USD +0.240 %
    GBP/USD +0.466 %
    GBP/EUR +0.561 %
    JPY/EUR +0.411 %
    GBP/AUD +0.226 %

Yes... I saw that... All it states is the the price of the Canadian dollar is down .081% on the day relative to the US Dollar... It says nothing about the actual exchange rate..

Scroll down the page on your link, and you will see the actual exchange rate..

The only reason I looked, is because I knew the exchange rate wasn't 0.82C to $1.00

    Just the facts..

    regards,

Been looking for an SUV to replace my aging and expensive to repair Audi A6 and have driven the Santa fe, the Acura RDX, the RAV, several Subaru models and liked the Murano the best.

Does anyone know if the SE model corners better than the SL, (have only driven the SL) and if it is better to buy an '07 over the '06 because of concerns of the CVT transmission?
  • Options
    terry92270terry92270 Member Posts: 1,247
The SE rides harder, but doesn't corner better, IMO. The tranny "problems" are more inflated in enthusiasts forums than real life, but given a choice, why take the extra year's depreciation :confuse:

Just bought a Superblack 2006 S-AWD - love the CVT.
From what I've read the problems were isolated to the early models. CVT is also in the Maxima/Altima now so it looks like a long term commitment for Nissan. I test drove the others RDX, Highlander etc- No comparison to the Murano as far as style, power, build quality IMO.

I purchased a car last year using this forum and internet pricing. I succeeded in getting the best price by picking the highest volume dealer in Northern California

Who is the highest volume Nissan dealer in Northern CA? and what would I expect to pay for a 2006 Murano SL with Leather and Sunroof package?

    munabhai,

    Quick question:

Did you email the dealers separately or did you include them all in one email so they could see that they were competing against each other?

    Thanks,

Wow US dealers are way ahead of us here in Canada, I found the only way to get a REAL deal is to go to the dealership in person and do the "talk to the manager" thingy...

Email & phone they just quote same prices as Nissan

This purchase is boiling down to the RDX, the Toy RAV, possibly a Dodge product, besides the Murano.I Like the interior of the Murano the best, also the exterior look.
First time driving the CVT, a unique experience being completely shiftless and following a smooth power curve as the speed increases.

Agreed, read some nasty stories about earlier models, hopefully the 06 and 07 have solved some of the glitches.

Confusing literature about the fuel requirement, does the 3.5 V-6 require premium gas?
  • Options
    tmnjmaxtmnjmax Member Posts: 19
The 2006 owners manual says use regular- use premium for improved performance. I've been using regular, I've only driven 500 miles so far,the dealer filled the tank the first time and thier pump only does regular so I figured I'd stay with it. So far its running great. After break-in if I'm not happy with the performance I'll try mid-grade or premium otherwise I'll be happy to save the 40 cents a gallon difference I'm seeing in south jersey.

Here is the template email I sent out.

    Nissan Murano 2006 SL AWD
SL Touring Package with XM(r) Satellite Radio
    Carpeted Floor Mats
    Splash Guards
    Cargo Area Protector
    Sunroof Wind Deflector

Online inventory shows that you have a few in the configuration I am looking for. PLease email me the stock number and the final price. I will only come in if I feel the price is right. Hence, please provide your best price.)

If the Murano will accept regular fuel, that will be a big plus towards the actual purchase. After looking at all these SUV's, the Murano is still holding it's own for interior comfort, performance and utility.

Going to look tonite at the Dodge Caliber, then the Lexus ES 300 models, and then possibly the TOY Rav for more comparison.

Any idea on what your gas mileage is so far?

We were just at the nissan dealership in downtown Toronto last night. We went in after seeing an Ad from Nissan Canada for a 2006 Murano SL AWD. Here's the Deal (from the website):

Offers on new Murano SL AWD L6TG16 AA00.
    2.8% lease for 48months.
Murano Monthly payment is $398 with $4,998 down payment.
Lease price includes freight and PDE of $1,314.
    Total lease obligation is $24,102.
First monthly payment, $0 security deposit, license, insurance, registration fees PPSA and taxes are due at lease inception.
Leases based on a maximum of 24,000 km per year with excess charged at $0.10/km.

Ontop of this, the dealer was willing to give $1500 off. I think we can get them to throw in the sunroof package as well, which is a total $2500 off. The deal is on the Nissan canada website. I'm not sure if we can get a better deal then this, but if someone is able to, please share.

Take note, that the $1500 they offered is with tax in, and the $5000 down does not include taxes. So if i do this right, the total combined downpayment is 1500+5000+(5000*0.14)=$7200. :confuse: The 0.14 is the prov/fed tax in ontario.

I'm new to leases, so i'm still trying to figure it out.

Our rep is a honest simple guy and i would recommed him to others.

I hope to hear back some feedback.

I forgot to mention that the MSRP is $41,098.00. I guess the selling price is the same, as he was using the $1500 discount for the downpayment..

For Canadian 2006 SL AWD Murano's does anyone know what the expected or average selling price is? Can i do better then $1500 off + free sunroof ($1000 value)?

So far I'm very impressed with all aspects of the car.
My last car was a 97 maxima and the build quality on the murano is pretty close IMO. Maybe "made in japan" has alot to do with it.

I haven't tracked the mpg yet, I'd say 18-19 thats mostly stop and go around town.

The price i bought it for $32606 was the best price i received. All other dealers came back with 2k more than this qoute.
I did not negotiate any further i knew this was a good price. :)

I was quoted $34,127.00 plus TTL for the same car, only an '07. The 2006 comes in at $33,550.00 or $944 more than your deal.

Do you think that the VSC (vehicle stability control) option which adds about $700 is worth the extra amount?

By personal experience, and almost every road test done by reputable magazines and industry groups....YES!!!

turboz, my fellow Canadian. I got a 2004 Nissan Murano SL AWD and no sunroof. I paid $43,500 on the road. The 2006 price should not be to far from that. I bought it early 2004 brand new.

Make sure that you ask for the price on the road to get your bottom line. This way, they can't do hocus pocus with you on all those other charges.

By the way, tax on 2004 was 15% and we now pay 14% instead.

    I hope this info helps.

In Canada Nissan is having a "Bottom Line" Sales event. For the Murano SL AWD, it looks like they will give you about $3000 off the MSRP of $40,998. On top of this they've reduced the lease rate to 2.8%.

Is there room to negotiate another $2000-$3000?
  • Options
    turbozturboz Member Posts: 11
Thanks Zoravar, so far I am getting about $39K on SL AWD w/Sunroof so I think it's a pretty good deal, especially with the 2.8% lease. A friend of mine just leased Honda Civic and his payments are only $80 less than my MO and that's a $25K car not $43K ! :)

    munabhaimunabhai Member Posts: 6
I think you are talking about Dynamic Control Package. I am not sure what a VSC is. Atleast i did not see this option. but Dynamic Control Package is a good option and the best price for SE 2006 with touring package/ satalite radio and Dynamic Control Package would be between $33100 and $33300. You should be able to get it at that price.

Try asking other dealers to beat your current best qoute.
