Question about my 2016 RDX AWD Base lease. I am leasing for 36 months. I initially paid the 1st months when I signed and just paid my second leaving 34 months. I pay $365.84 a month with a residual/buyout of $23,367.80 but online with Acura financial it has the payoff amount as $36621.57 as of today. Which makes no sense. 34 more payment X $365.84= $12,438.56 - $36621.57 = $24,183.01 which makes not sense since my buyout price on the lease says $23,367.80. Anyone can explain?

Your current payoff amount might include penalties for early payoff, disposition fee, etc, etc.. It's not just the rest of your payments, plus the residual.

A lease isn't like a loan.. if you decide to pay if off early, you may be penalized. But, if you take it to term, then no worries.

Thank you KYFDX, I called Acura and they said it was sales tax which can't be since the difference is $800+, sales tax would be $2000+ NYC.

But, if you pay it off early, some of the finance charges won't be collected on the lease.

It's a perfectly reasonable explanation.

The tax in that quote is irrelevant, as CA (you are in CA, right?) taxes the monthly payment.

Assume you pay the fees and the $595 acquisition fee upfront, along with the first payment, then the monthly payment is $408/mo.+tax.

 The first two are not, as they are government imposed. The dealer will tell you the third one is not negotiable, but you can try to negotiate a lower selling price to offset the amount of that fee

Thanks. Since the RDX has a 4 year warranty, does it ever pay to do a longer than 36 month lease with Acura or do they take too much off of the residual with the longer terms to make it worthwhile?

Correct - 8% difference in residual between 36 and 48 months.

I don't have any information to suggest otherwise, so the MF is the same regardless of lease length.

Subtract 2% to go from 36 to 39 months, and 4% to go from 36 to 42 months.
