I am looking to purchase a Pacifica in the next 2 weeks. I was told there is a $2500 rebate and 3.9% financing. I would hate to buy this week and find out rebates improve in April

Any idea what will happen come April 1st?

    Thanks
    Mike

The option was $1,595. as memory serves me. We told the dealer we were afraid of taking delivery of the car because of all the problems we were reading about on these sites. I told him I wanted the bumper to bumper warrenty for 7 yr./ 70,000 free. He said that was not a problem and understood our position. Some have reported here of getting free oil changes for life, etc., we did not. We got 1 free oil change and free car washes (hand) and minor scratch removal every visit. Our Pac cost $31,060. It is a AWD '05 Touring. We have the 26U pkg. I don't have the info. in front of me, but we have leather interior, sun roof, power tail gate, DVD, 6 disc player, heated seats, 19" chrome wheels, etc. I should have got the back-up alert system. I will have installed now. We did not order the GPS navigation as we did not like the location of the screen. We are ordering either the Garmin or the Magellan systems. With 12,000 miles on it we are very pleased with the vehicle. My last road trip to N.C. we got 22.5 MPG. In the city only, the mileage is terrible, but we are mostly on the highway. Let me know if you need more specific info.

Ours was $38,310. on the sticker including the extended warranty. We paid $31,060. I believe you could do slighty better today then we did last year, as it appears the pricing has dropped again on these vehicles. It looks like you made a great deal. Welcome!

Just bought a 2004 AWD Pacifica with 16K on it for $21,900. and love it, a few minor problems developed but gets 21 to 22mpg on the V6 and very smooth ride, stable. Vehicle was owned by a commercial lease prior to my purchase and was maintained well, everyone thinks its a 2005. Silver in color, hope I don't run into any paint problems as some mentioned.

I recently purchased a new Stone White 2005 Pacifica FWD. It is a base model with the exception of the 17" alloy wheel upgrade. I got it out the door for $20,500 with 3.9% for 60 months financing. I'm barely past break-in(300 miles), but so far I like the car. The only complaint I have so far is the poor rear visibility.

    RE: Visability

Just use your side mirrors more like you do in a pick up truck. I drove a pick up truck for 8 years and when I drive my wife's Pac it reminds me of the view (or lack thereof) out the rearview interior mirror in the pick up.

Hi, I was looking to purchase a MDX but the dealers around me still wanted too much money for it so I'm looking at my second choice which is the Pac. Just wanted to know if there has been recent purchases utilizing the employee price program that is currently being offered. Thanks.

Pacifica 2005 Base Model - AWD. No additional options.

Before tax, title, etc. is $23,625. Out the door price is $25,487 in NJ. There is a documentation fee of $95. What the heck is a documentation fee?

Does this look like a good deal to anyone? Thanks in advance for any and all replies.

On July 9, in NJ, purchased Pacifica Base AWD with option AM/FM/CD/Cassette (150.00) and paint (150.00).
    MSRP: 28,755
    Empl Price: 25,731
They offered an additional 2,000 rebate or 2.9% finance for 48 months. I put down my own deposit and took the 2.9% financing.

    Hi Backspur,

Can you be more specific about what poor rear visibility concerns you have with this car? I really like the car but the poor ratings I've heard about rear visibility have given me pause. Is it difficult backing up/changing lanes, etc.?

    Thanks!

    Kim
  • pac1pac1 Member Posts: 7
If you have been driving a car, all your life, then it might be tough for a couple of days. It's just that you need some time to get used to the big vehicle and that's all.

One good thing I noticed while driving at night is that the lights emanating from the cars, from the back, doesn't even hit your eyes. I find it very nice and with the tint in the back windows, it reduces the light even more.

But, you need few days to get used to the *tourer*.

My husband and I are looking at a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica Limited AWD loaded. The asking price is $37,000 minus the employee discount and $2000 rebate which brings it to $31,000. Is there any more room to bargin or is that as good as it gets?
  • steelydan0613steelydan0613 Member Posts: 144
After 24,000 miles on my Pacifica , I can say that you can easily change lanes all day long, just be sure you use the side mirrors . I look in the rear view mirror first, then the side mirror before I change lanes. As a matter of fact , I think I am a better driver now in the Pacifica than I was in my Honda because I must use my side mirror now. No problem there.

Backing up is another story. I always look behind me before I get in the Pacifica, and I just back up enough so that I can then move forward, turn , etc........A back up sensor is nice, but I still would not trust it enough to just start backing up.

ALL SUV's are prey to the backing up thing, and frankly, the only sure way is to look when you get in, back up slowly, and back up less. Even with a sensor, all it would take is a fast-moving toddler to run up behind your car in reverse, and , well , a disaster in the making no matter what you drive...

It appears that about $6K (employee discount + $2K rebate) is about as good as you're going to get, at least that's the way it is around the Central Florida area.

Also be wary of hidden "Dealer Fees" which typically run another $500-$700 here. That's just additional dealer markup. At least one dealer even applies sales tax to this fee! The also frequently like to include dealer add-ons you might not want... bug shields, mud flaps, etc... at a high price. Insist against them!

I'll be buying a loaded Touring 2WD this week (leather, Nav, Sunroof, DVD, etc) but only if they work with me on that dealer fee nonsense.
  • minivanguyminivanguy Member Posts: 85
There is always more room to bargain. This is coming from a guy who got a Honda Touring at $27,100. BTW you might want to consider going below invoice. Also shop around like I did and have the dealers compete for you. ;)
  • hutchinjhutchinj Member Posts: 6
Well, we did it! Came home with a loaded Butane Blue/Light Taupe Touring model last night. Only 60 miles on it so far but we love it already!

Our dealer of choice was CarMax Chrysler Dodge Jeep in Orlando, FL. Besides the $4000+ employee discount and $2000 Chrysler rebate, we got an additional $1000 CarMax discount and their "processing fee" was only $149. A lot better than the $500-$700 dealer fee quoted by other dealers. Plus no pushing to get us to buy dealer add-ons, extended warranties, etc. The MSRP was just over $35K and we got it out the door with tag, tax, & title for less than $30K. You might be able to haggle an even better deal with some dealers, but this was a no-haggle, no frustration experience and a pleasant one at that!

We opted against the factory GPS Navigation system in favor of an aftermarket Garmin unit. More features, portable from vehicle to vehicle, and 1/2 the price through eBay stores. Now I just have to find those chrome 19" wheels! :D
  • nuruc7nuruc7 Member Posts: 98
Which Garmin did you get? BTW Congrats on the new PAC. I have 30k miles on my 2005 and it is so smooth. No issues with it except for the clicking noise TSB, and that was taken care of inthe first week or so after I got it. Good luck! :D
  • hutchinjhutchinj Member Posts: 6
We opted for the Garmin StreetPilot 2720, their top-of-the-line automotive unit. It appears to actually have more features than the factory job and of course, is transportable from car to car. Retail is nearly $1200 but can be purchased new from reliable eBay stores for around $825. You can read the specs at www.garmin.com/products/sp2720/
  • peebopeebo Member Posts: 4
You can still go cheaper, I was able to go $1000 plus add-ons after employee price and rebates. I have an 05 pac, loaded (no Nav, uconnect, or intermezzo system) and walked out the door under $30k including tax, title, etc.

I would also would negotiate little add-ons that you would eventually buy anyway once you agree on a price, when they came back with their final counter offer, I agreed under the condition they would give me factory slush mats ($100+ for all three rows), chrome door entry guards ($90), and a hood deflector ($80). They gave me two out of the three, plus you have to figure all those parts probably cost them half of what the consumer pays.

How did you get a Honda Touring, I presume Odyssey, for $27.1K? Where and when, if you don't mind.

    Thanks

Welcome Miguel2! It's nice to have an official Chrysler rep here. I tried to come up with some questions, but since I'm a very satisfied customer after over 27 months with my Pacifica, I can't think of any except what we can expect for 2006. I am, however, curious what percentage of Pacifica's are sold with the second row bench seat.
  • minivanguyminivanguy Member Posts: 85
IT actually was at invoice, but the dealer tried to change the contract. "Which was at 4.9% to 7.9% interest". After I already signed the original contract. So you know I wasn't gonna sign any other papers, "with the help of my lawyers of coarse". So we played let's make a deal. The dealer had to lower the price of the van to $27,100 and I kept the 7.9%. I was happy with the numbers they weren't. btw, for 66 months and $2,000 down. Forgive me for leaving out anything, I don't have the contract in front of my face. I like to end on these notes. Never pay "MSRP" for any vehicle, never be afraid to walk away, and last always shop around, have the dealers compete for your business. ;) :shades:

 well after almost 2 years of owning it, and 52k miles I trade it in tomorrow on a Subaru B9. can not say it was a pleasant ownership experience. I mean the car is great now that all the recalls and TSBs were done. but just not confident in the Chrysler Transmission. and the Trade-In or Resale Third Party is very very low. The employee purchase programs didnt help the resale any either. I am getting $18k on a FULLY loaded 04 pac with everything but leather and sunroof. and I mean everything (I custom ordered it). the avg trade-in was about $16k! the market price to sell it to someone if I could find someone is $19k maybe... had tried for past 3 weeks listing it in autotrader but no bites :(

so disappointed in the resale value and the ability for anyone to want a used pac. I sold my Toyota Highlander with 50k miles in just 2 weeks and had tons of calls. AND sold the Highlander for more money then I am trying to sell the pacifica. :(

To start off...It looks to me that there is quite a bit of room to negotiate below the employee price and current rebate on an '05 pac. I used to think the invoice prices listed on Edmunds and Consumer Reports were reliable but I'm beginning to think the dealers are just concealing their actual costs in other ways and the invoice prices are quite artificial. We just bought an '05 touring with most options and the MSRP was $36,600. After "employee pricing" and rebates the price was $30,407.

Here's where I feel there is more room to negotiate...We originally were offered $3500 for our trade. Edmunds specs said $3843 for trade-in, $4939 for individual sale, and $6151 for retail value. Carmax offered $4000 cash. I negotiated the dealer up to $6300 for the trade in...this money had to come from somewhere and I don't think the used car manager gave all of the additional $2800 to make the deal.

I'm not sure where the additional $2800 came from but I would definitely try to get below what the dealer is advertising somehow...its tricky but the money can come from either side. I used to think it was best to sell your old car and not take a hit on the trade in value...In this instance I actually did better using it as a trade-in and saved money on taxes and the inconvenience of trying to sell.

I'm curious what you all think...I hate buying cars...also, the Pacifica is great!
  • mtwallacemtwallace Member Posts: 28
Well, I almost got a great deal on a red 05 Pacifica Touring AWD today w/leather and rear DVD. MSRP was 34,515, it was advertised for 25,988.

Employee price: 28,239, less 2,000 rebate, less addl discount of 2,251. It had been advertised for two weeks, and we hemmed and hawed, hesitant to pull the trigger. When I finally decided to buy and went to the dealership on Saturday afternoon, I was excited to see it was still there, right in front of the showroom. I even verified the stock number on the sticker to make sure it was the ad vehicle.

Alas, the salesman said they had just sold it - a couple was inside working up the deal as we spoke. He said he'd call me if the deal fell through, but the call never came.

Moral: Yes, there is plenty of room to get a deal below the employee price. And once you make up your mind, don't hesitate.

    Well b25nut,

Great to hear about your Pacifica's performance. At this time, we have yet to receive any official information regarding the vehicle. As far as the release of the 2006 Pacifica's is concerned, the vehicle should be available early in the fall of this year and the information for it will probably be available a few weeks before that.

    Stay posted for updates.

I am currently in the process of negotiating the purchase of a new car. I have been quoted very competitive numbers for the price of the car, but when I show up to have my Trade In appraised the dealers are considerably lower than what Edmunds or KBB show as the Trade In Value. I have a high mileage 99 Jeep Grand Cherokee Ltd.

It also seems that they try to muddle the 2 together, price of the car and trade. Should these 2 be negotiated separately i.e.: what is the price of the car you are offering and what is the amount you will give for the trade.

They have quoted "Wholesale value" on my trade, but should I even care about that? Is it unreasonable to require the numbers given by Edmunds and KBB? They don't seem to be very willing to budge. Any help would be awesome as I will hopefully be purchasing within the next day or so.

I havent test drove the PAC yet, but DO like the B9. Why did you switch? the PAC is cheaper, but i am also worried about the resale value. Those incentives look good tho. Also, when test driving your cars, did anyone bring thier thier kids? I havent so far, but they might see something that I dont. I'm not the one in the back seat!
  • ncmoveonncmoveon Member Posts: 2
First of all thanks to those who wrote about their experiences. I just bought my 2005 Touring for what is supposedly $2,000 (plus) less than Edmunds TMV.

What I got was Touring FWD, with after market leather (much nicer) DVD, CD, in roof monitor, power gate, roof rack, side airbags, and sirrius. I think thats it for about $26,225. I also was able to get 3 years of oil changes.

I had to get some things that I didn't want, since the inventory of EP+ qualified vehicles is low. However, if you are willing to give and take, you can get a good deal without it being too painful to either side.

I take delivery in a few days and look forward to it. My salesman was a great guy, and was very accommodating.

Would like to know if anyone has had any dealings with Chrysler on a buy out at lease end? I have a AWD 04 Pac. Lease buy out is 21,400.00. It has 5 mounth to go. I would like to buy the Pac,but they are only selling for 18 to 19 K. I know I had a GM lease and they cut the buy out by over 2,000.00. If any one can tell me if they had any experience with this please let me know.
  • cluelesspacluelesspa Member Posts: 648
the resale value of Pacifica will chew up the savings you get over another vehicle buying the other at invoice. I purchased the B9 at invoice!

the second thing was I just had bad feeling that the transmission was going to go bad after my extended 70k warranty. They had problems before with transmissions and the pac was starting to shift very heavy at times when going at a mid speed say around 45 mphs. between 2nd and 3rd gears.

the B9 was lighter but same HP. and figured the Subaru had better AWD. not that it matters much because the PAC handled very very well in the snow with snow tires on it felt solid.

too many bad experiences getting it to where it was when I traded it. it ran well but the mulitple visits to the dealer left me never wanting another Chrysler ever again. the initial quality and design is not there. the features are hard to pass up and thats what got me into a PAC in the first place. but the quality of the features got me to leave Chrysler.

I would recommend leasing a PAC. its a great vehicle for a 2 or 3 yr lease if they give you a high residual value
  • pricesterpricester Member Posts: 4
Did you get the 26U package ? tom
  • arrtnutarrtnut Member Posts: 2
well I just drove the PAC & B9 immediately after it & I'm deciding on the PAC. I also have a friend who just Loves her PAC. I dont really care about resale value because the last car I had (have now, i'm keeping it) i've had for 9 years. I dont plan on selling my future PAC anytime soon. I can get a fully loaded touring PAC for less than the base B9.
  • ncmoveonncmoveon Member Posts: 2
Sorry, but it was basically the leather trim group and am not familiar with 26U with after market leather (much nicer) and the add ons mentioned. Turns out that I also qualifed for a $500 previous owner rebate.

Took delivery tonight and love it!
  • cluelesspacluelesspa Member Posts: 648
what car do you have now that you kept for 9 years? also how many miles do you put on in a year? if you dont push say over 70k miles then its a nice vehicle. as far as pricing. I think you will find about $1.5k difference between the two comp equiped vehicles. the touring pac with all the stuff vs the B9 limited. I lost about $2k in resale value so its about a wash.

The transmission on the Pac was getting rougher and rougher as I started getting up in mileage. I had the recall done on it to add a quieter on but it still clunked from drive to reverse and started getting heavy shifting from 2nd to 3rd on little hills doing say 40 mphs... just would shift heavy.

the B9 I have now is no-where like that. the transmission is smooth as butter. no clunks in reverse to drive ... and it shifts smoothly when on the road.

I've test driven just about every car in Pacifica's class but can't figure out why you would buy this SUV vs. any other one. It is under powered. Has impossible seating configurations. And the worst blind spots of any vehicle other than U-Haul. Go throw your $31K at something a bit more drivable.
  • rodutrodut Member Posts: 343
Because it's the most stable (has the highest SSF - Static Stability Factor). When steering abruptly left-right-left-right it feels like a car. Check the NHTSA web site, or aggressively steer the thing.

Not to mention, the best crash test ratings in it's class.
  • steelydan0613steelydan0613 Member Posts: 144
Mine was $25K, not $31K. You don't need to spend more than that . I know the Pacifica is not for everybody, but frankly I knew I did not want another SUV that is truck-based......One drive in the Envoy/Trailblazer was enough to convince me of that.......and that one was Motor Trend's Truck of the Year when it first came out!

In my original post, I was only complaining about the OVERUSE of MSRP's on this website in comparing vehicles to each other . This is also done in all the car mag's ...........They will wonder if the Pacifica can compete in the $40,000 MSRP range(loaded), and I have two words to say about that ...........It doesn''t ...............A nicely equipped Pacifica can be had for much less, which makes the $40,000 thing kind of irrelevant.....................everybody knows this, so why do all the car mags and car websites use ONLY this as the gospel truth in the final transacted price of a vehicle ?.............................................. :confuse:
