But that website you pointed at, mzmarlo, seems to be WAY overpriced, especially on their monitors. The cameras are expensive, too.

I lost my bookmark file, so I don't have the links to the places I was looking, but I know you can find them cheaper.

Here's what I was looking at:
     * Pinhole/plug waterproof color or B/W camera
     * Video sender/receiver unit (sends image wirelessly - I only need power)
     * In-Dash LCD monitor w/2 inputs
        - Run one from the backup camera
        - Run the other from the DVD changer

So that, when we're backing out of a spot where we think we'll need the camera, we just pop open the LCD (if it's closed) and switch it to the backup camera.

Thanks for the info mzmarlo - but that system is more than what I was looking for. I don't think I need a rear-mounted camera, just something that will beep at me when I get too close. I like Chrysler's dealer-installed option, I just want to get feedback on how it looks before I take the plunge!
    Thanks

Wow Todd that sounds reasonable. If you come across it again-can you post the link? Thanks!

Since I live in ny I can only do a balloon payment since chrysler doesn't lease in NY. Only downside is have to pay all tax on car value.

We have picked up our Pacifica after the back-up sensors have been installed, and are very happy with the look. Our car is the Linen Gold, and the back-up sensors match the dark finish that is standard with the cars. The sensors are just 4 round circles that were punched into the bumper of the vehicle. They do contrast, but they look fine to my husband and myself. We had the trailer hitch installed at the same time, and are happy with the clean look of it as well. It does not stick out, but is almost flush with the bumper, in fact they cut a bit of the bumper to do the installation. Our dealership did a fine job on installing both items. I understand that the sensors can be painted to match the bumper, but we did not make that request. If you are concerned that you do not want the sensors to be visible, you can see if they can do that, as I have been led to believe that they can. Hope you enjoy it.

Thanks cece for the update on how your backup sensors turned out. They sound nice and not at all obtrusive. I think I will look into doing them for my Pacifica. Happy motoring!

I thought I was prepped to do my first lease but it doesn't seem to be happening.

Husband has the DC Affiliates Reward Program (1% under invoice + current incentives ($5K). I visited one dealer, called two and no one seems to be able to come up with the bare bones FWD as unloaded as possible.

    I want a 2004 36 mo/12K under $350/month with 0 down, "sign and drive".
Are the basic models gone? Should I wait until Aug. to get a better discount on a more loaded model? Car_Man said I can't really negotiate lease prices with this program. Maybe the sales people make significantly lower commissions on these affiliate programs?
    Any advice is most appreciated.
  • bjbird2bjbird2 Member Posts: 647
We leased the basic FWD 2004 Pac about 6 months ago with 0 down, 12k miles per year, for 39 months, with free oil changes for $309 per month, no Affiliates Reward Program.

Sam helped me with test drive and introduction of all the features. He is great! not pushy at all. He gave me the price of 28988 with almost everything but navigation system. But only on the car i test drived and another one i do not like the color. I am little bit concerned about that car's quality 'cause I heard some noice when i released brake on the slope. I checked out another car with navigation as well. but he can not find the dvd for the navigation system. also I found out that the driver's door is kind of mismatched, which make me think about the poor build quality of chrysler as talked by many people.

I know i am buying a car for myself but it is really hard to see a pacifica on the road in bay area. what is wrong? what prevent people from buying this great car? why chrysler is so difficult to communicate to people? is it really a reputation issue?

I have been shopping for a pacifica for a week. Originally trying to buy a 04 model because of the discount that is currently offered. I have read a lot of reviews on the car. I like almost everything about the car myself, particularly the styling and design. It is also very flexible in terms of seating. The only thing bothers me is the reliability and depreciation of the car. So I think maybe leasing the car for 36 months is a better choice for me, because everything is covered during the first 3 years, so I don't have to worry about the repair cost. they will provide you with a loaner car if it needs any repair as well. I read one of the post on the board about leasing a 04 basic model for $302 a month including tax with zero down for 39 months.(Plus free oil change) I think that is a great deal. The problem is I can't find any basic 04 model any more. Now the best deal I can find is a 05 FWD touring model with liftgate option, $360 a month including tax with zero down for 36 months. Is this a good deal?

I don't see many Pacificas on the road either. Only once so far. But I really love the design and styling. Only wish chrysler improve their reliability and quality so is the residual value, or other better quality cars like toyotas and hondas can have better style and design.
  • chenghchengh Member Posts: 9
I think 360 per month is a big deal by it self. I would go for a full loaded pacifica for anything below 400 per month. I fell in love with this car desparately!!!
  • pacificaqueenpacificaqueen Member Posts: 3
    Pacificafan,
I had your issue one week ago--I live in NJ and the basic '04s are very hard to find, particularly with all the money back you can get. I pressured my dealer by phone and finally in person and he ultimately found one in PA and had it brought to NJ. Got it today and it is great--it does not have a single bell or whistle and for $348/36 mos., that's just fine with me. Don't give up.
  • pompiliuspompilius Member Posts: 54
I don't know where you people live or hang out, but I see a lot of Pacificas here in South Florida. Also I just went for a short trip to Connecticut and saw a bunch of them there.

As for resale value, that does not offen reflect the car's quality. Take Infiniti. They have good quality but the resale is not very good.

I was just at the dealership tonight for a test drive of an '04 Pacifica AWD, loaded except for nav and moonroof. Off the bat offered $7500 in rebates, brought the price down to $28,500. Is this a decent deal or am I missing more incentives/rebates for an '04 model?
  • yym7myym7m Member Posts: 5
How much is it the sticker price and the invoice price. Then we could compare it with our deal.
  • pyrrhuspyrrhus Member Posts: 1
Picked up our 2004 Pacifica FWD on Saturday. Took our test drive pacifica to another dealer and they scrambled to get us what we wanted. We ended up with almost every option but Rear Video and UConnect (option I wanted :/). Sticker was 37+ and after rebates and haggling ended up at just over 28k for the car +TTL. After searching and haggling between dealers for a couple of weeks, that was by far the best deal and we ran. It even beat the deal the previous dealer that day was going to give us on a similair demo.

I have begun my shopping and the deals I am getting for 2004s are generally $400 over invoice, less the $5750 in incentives ($4000 + $1000 + $750). This net of $5350 under invoice does not seem to be as good as what other purchasers have received, based on what I have read above. For example, the previous poster stated he received the Pacifica at over $9000 under sticker, which is more than $5350 under invoice. Can people share their experiences and advice please? What am I missing?

Pacificafan, your lease deal looks terrific -- $360 for a 2005! Can you post or email me details re the car's invoice and your lease terms? Thanks.

I'm close (as in 2 days) to buying a 2005 Pacifica AWD Butane Blue with 26U, moonroof, chrome for $31,100 (pre-rebates).

The car was built in April/May 2004. Any issues with a 2005 model built a few months back?

    Is this a good price?

Any reason to consider the new limited edition if it's even available?

    Thx.

"check sites like carsdirect.com and carmax.com to get ideas"

But don't bother with carsdirect for a decent lease price. They came up with an '04 well under invoice but the 36 month 12000 mile lease price they came up with was $479 plus tax a month. When I asked for a break down of money factor, residual, etc. they got all hissy and hung up on me.
  • pompiliuspompilius Member Posts: 54
yeah, I never liked the financing and leasing rates that Carsdirect.com offered. They must think that consumers are idiots.

    Re message #384 by pacster:

You said your deal is pre-rebates. If so, then it is almost exactly at invoice, assuming you haven't added in the $680 destination charge. How did you negotiate at-invoice pricing for a 2005?

What's the EP price (towards the bottom of what you included, appears to be missing). That's the employee pricing, which you probably can't do any better than before rebates.
  • chenghchengh Member Posts: 9
Thanks. I do not know what that means. The dealer just give me the invoice price, it seems like. So after -5000 rebate i got -8000 off MSRP.

Dealer is pushing me hard to sign the contract but I want to wait until end of the month. what can I do?
  • bjbird2bjbird2 Member Posts: 647
I leased a base model FWD 2004 Pac for 39 months, 12k per year, $0 down, $309 per month. Less than half what your $674 payment is, and I'm hoping I'll get a similar deal on a new 2007 or 2008 when my lease is up.
The base model does not have all the features you're getting, but that's just less gadgets to go wrong, and it probably get's better mileage without AWD and all those options.

Here is the deal we did last weekend in Northern CA on our 2005 AWD Pacifica. We got it with 26U Quick Order Package, Navigation, 19" Chrome wheels, rear DVD, Moonroof, Infinity Sound System, HID lights, Cargo Conv., Laminated Door Glass, Uconnect hands free, & Satelite prep. The MSRP was $40,230, invoice w/out any anvertising fees is $36607 (incl. destination). We paid $34700 (including $2000 rebates) plus ttl. I think we did ok. The other offer we got was on a likely equipped car, but it had 17" wheels instead of the 19" and that dealership was offering it for $34500 incl. rebates. So a difference of $200 & we think the 19" look better. Hope this help in your car buying. My only word of advice on a 2004 is to look at the manufactured date and make sure it is not an early production. There were some quirks that needed ironing out with the early production. That is why we went w/an 05. So far we both really like this car. Good luck.
  • chenghchengh Member Posts: 9
Thanks crzyaim. I am living in Bay Area. Can you tell me which dealer did you get the deal? Thanks a lot.
  • crzyaimcrzyaim Member Posts: 58
We bought our car in Davis at Swift Jeep Chrysler. I found going to Chrysler's website and doing a "find a dealer" search helped to narrow down our search. By using this, you can view the window stickers of cars that the "5 star" dealerships have, letting you see exactly what the car is equipped with. This allowed us to find the car we wanted w/out driving all over the place. From what I've learned is that if you are a "5 star" dealership, Chrysler runs the website. Once a car is manufactured and in route to the dealership, it will show up on this search. Once the car is sold, it is promptly removed. It is amazing how many 04 are still out there. Many of which the colors have been discontinued, so you know w/out even looking at the manufactor date, that they are old. Personally I would go for an 05. Good luck and keep us posted on what you decide.

We bought what sounds like the exact same equipped car, with the exception of UConnect and Satellite Prep, and add Infinity Sound System- paid $34,200 last Saturday in Salem,OR. It took me a week to get quotes from all the dealers in a 40 mile radius. Some were downright rude to us, refusing to work with us over the phone and fax with invoices, etc. There were 3 dealers who were really responsive, and we went with the one who had what we wanted in stock at the right price. We did outside financing, because trying to work with dealer financing has always burned us in the past. It was the least pressured car buying experience I've ever had. I'll never walk on a lot cold again.

By the way, I just love the car... it's my first new car ever, and I can hardly believe we bought it! Sometimes I just stand in the driveway at stare at it, like a mirage. We're still trying to figure out how to use all the features.

Now I just have to sell my 10 year old Subaru!
  • pacsterpacster Member Posts: 3
Has anyone had a problem doing the Chrysler financing to get the $1,000 rebate, then switching to outside financing?

I realize there is a 90-day no-switch policy for Chrysler. But figured after 3 months, I can switch to my credit union's better rates.

Have people had success in obtaining good lease deals on their Pacificas? I am concerned about resale value and prefer to lease for 2-3 years. I invite forum members to post their deals and, if possible, to be specific about the invoice, monthly payment, money factors, and residuals, if you know. Thanks in advance.

Those are pretty low for a car that was retailing for over $40K
  • mellismellis Member Posts: 150
But it never sold for $40k. With all of the rebates and market correction my loaded AWD 04 (without nav) went for $29,000.

That makes it more reasonable. And it's also why I leased.
  • commofficercommofficer Member Posts: 50
Gotta agree here but I am still disappointed. I paid $27500 for my AWD back in July 2003 and we now have something like 18K miles on it. I took it in and was quoted $21,000 by the Chrysler dealer. Nothing says 'we value our products' like a low trade in quote. I was tying to get something with better gas mileage but after finding out how much I would lose I quickly changed my mind. I'll wait and see how things go but I am happy with the car and like driving it. It's just the gas mileage right now that is a drawback. Even the 300C with a Hemi gets better mileage which makes me wonder about the 3.5 liter. Wonder if we will ever see a diesel in this car? It would be a good candidate and they could sell them in EUrope too.

Thanks. I drove home my pacifica 2004 last Saturday. We just love it! I even volunteered to do the laundry in the garage so I can just look at my new Pacifica. So beautiful and exactly what I want with price I can afford. Yes I decided to get the 2004 model. The production date was March 29 so I think it is actually not too far away from a 2005 model. with 8000 off MSRP maybe it is not a great deal at this time of the year but I think I will just take it. Now we can do all kind of things like going to dancing party in the city, skiing in Lake Tahoe, long, fun, comfortable trip to Yellowstone. Yeah!

    Enjoy, all pacifica owners!
  • mellismellis Member Posts: 150
23% is about right for an American car the first year I'm afraid. Chrysler does not set the resale value - the market does.

This is exactly why if I want an American car I lease. The factory supported lease residuals eliminate this problem.
  • boiler1boiler1 Member Posts: 56
The residual value on my lease (22 months left) is $21,500 compared to the NADA current trade-in value of $23,000. Chrysler Financial is going to take a real bath when I turn in the car! I am happy to let them take the hit while I enjoy my (their) Pacifica.
  • dolphindolphin Member Posts: 71
I couldn't agree more...if they put one of their M-B diesels in this baby, WOW! takes away any negatives in mileage & performance!

We're looking at a 2004 FWD with the 26R option & convenience group cargo. Dealer is offering $100 over invoice price of $29,486 minus $4000 manufacturer rebate. MSRP is $31,535. Total is $5949. Not overly good from what I have seen on this discussion board. Dealer is also offering low trade-in on a 2000 XLT Explorer in good condition - their price crept up $1000 in 30 mins (made eventual offer of $8000). We walked away this evening and expect some follow-up calls this week with a better trade price. Anyone else experience silly games like this from their dealer (Archer Chrysler in Katy TX).

The only thing to beware of when buying a 2004 is the production date. I decided to buy a 2005 after realizing all the 2004's in our area were pre August '03 production. Most of those cars have been on the ground well over a year and have had many problems. Just something to think about.
  • rsharprsharp Member Posts: 103
The blue book values are out for the 04 Pilot as well. I had a tough time choosing between Pac and Pilot. The PAC blue books numbers are very low IMHO, just look at this poor guy above trying to sell a $37K Pac and getting a trade in value of $19K. So I was curious as to what my 04 Pilot trade value would be. This Pilot is an EX, no leather, with running boards. I paid about $30K and the Trade In Value is $29K! Which is in line with the values of used Pilots I looked at when I was shopping for one. Used ones were typically within 2-3 thousand of a new one.

We are looking at a 2004 fully loaded FWD Pacifica and have been quoted rougly $29,000 by two dealerships. This includes $9K worth of incentives. Is this a fair price so late in the year?
  • Kirstie_HKirstie_H Administrator Posts: 11,240
Could you clarify -- is that $29K that you will pay after the incentives have been applied, or will you pay closer to $20K after the incentives have been applied?

Also, in what part of the country are you shopping?

well just started working out a deal today and I'm pretty happy with what I got.... theres an add in the paper that if you have a friends and family discount or other chrysler discount you can sign and drive an 05 touring Pac for 24 months 12K miles a year for 189 + tax... well thats what I ended up doing instead of dealing with the 1400 down stuff... :) I'm glad I look in the paper for deals or else I would have signed for a 250 (including all taxes).
