I'm probably repeating myself but WOMEN, buying a car the way Acurat and others have suggested is a snap. I've been buying my cars myself for years. Hate the haggling. I stink at it. But again, do this: Find out about rebates, incentives, holdbacks etc. Be ready to buy that day. Call and ask for the Internet Manager. Tell them you're ready to buy that day. Give your real name and phone number etc. Tell them you don't want to haggle; you want their rock-bottom price and that you are calling other dealers and will be back in touch with them. Keep a list. Be willing to travel 50+ miles if the deal is right. (I traveled 40.) When you get what seems like a good/low price, make sure you ask for the doc (document) fees. One place quoted me a very low price. When I asked what the doc fees were, I was told $300! Ask if there are any other fees. Do this only when you have what sounds like a good deal.

And of course make sure you have the right color inside and out.

It's as easy as that. No face to face stare down. No heart racing. Just a phone call. And we women are great on the phone!

    Best wishes to you all,
    Nancy

Bought a TL last night. Paid $250 over invoice, but got the dealer to throw in window tinting and ipod docking station/connection. Based on what I have read on this forum the past couple of weeks, I belive that I got a pretty good deal. Tried to negotiate further, but dealer was adamant about not going belwo invoice on an '07. All correspondence was done through the internet manager and overall I found the process much less troublesome than I had planned. I would highly reccomend Champion Acura!

We're getting ready to buy an 07 TL. Is around 31,500 including destination for non-navigation a pretty good deal? I had to comparison shop all over the east coast and ask them to match prices in order to get them to drop to this. Is it the best I can do? What do you guys think is going to happen to the pricing after Jan. 1? The 3.9% financing is supposed to end then, I know.

Libertyvile IL. will sell me a new 2007 TL Type S for $34,995. Loaded, NAV,ETC. :)
  • malmelstmalmelst Member Posts: 4
I am committed to getting the 6sp - so the TL S is essential. Tried to sell my car - but it is the wrong time of year. Am I missing the boat by not buying by 1/2/07 - the advertised "best deals" at present? I got a $500 over invoice "discussion" with a dealer, but they did not have the color combo I wanted (White Pearl with the Silver/Black interior) Any guidance is very much appreciated. I am a devotee of the forum.
  • jdelabrejdelabre Member Posts: 57
Too bad you don't live by Woodfield, IL. They had a lot full of 07 TL-S. All color combo's. And gave me a $1,500 better trade than Libertyville, IL. Libertyville would sell me a new 07 TL-S for $34,995. But WITHOUT trading in my 06 TL. They said to sell it myself or sell it to Carmax. The problem is I would have to pay another $2,000 in taxes for the $34,995 TL-S at Libertyville. When you trade in the car you tax only the difference in your car and the new car. At Libertyville if I traded in my 06 TL, they wanted MSRP on the 07 TL-S $38,800. So Woodfield Acura was the best bet. I hate trying to sell myself. You need to get $2,000 extra for the taxes. Plus another $1,000 for the hassle. I TRADED IN. Good Luck! Jeff :)

Later I may post about the whole surreal experience I had negotiating with the various dealers and how they alternately would try to screw me as if I were an idiot and then stumble all over themselves to undo the damage. In any event, this is the deal I ended up with:

    TL-S/6MT: $35,500+$399 rapacious processing fee+TTL

Lease: 36 mo. MF: .00267, 15K miles, 575 AHFC leasing fee. No security deposit. 58% residual.

Any thoughts? Did I do OK or did I leave money on the table?
  • cglow9cglow9 Member Posts: 1
Really? As I am heading out TOMORROW to purchase a new car, and I'm somewhere between the Acura TL (with nav) and the Volvo S60 (can get the Z plan on Volvos).

And Woodfield is darn close to me. Would you mind telling us what you did end up paying for the TL-S at Acura? Libertyville has also contacted me via email, and Arlington Heights. Good thing I have 2 days to dicker (Friday and saturday).

Any other advice would be appreciated!!
  • jdelabrejdelabre Member Posts: 57
I paid $36,200 at Woodfield with a decent trade. Libertyville would sell me a new TL-S for $34,995 but BAD trade value on my 06 TL. About $1,500 difference. Woodfield got my business, even though I live much closer to Libertyville and bought my 06 TL there. At Mullers Woodfield Acura ask for Jan Charles. Tell her Jeff D. sent you. If you go to libertyville ask for Dino Fenton. But the $34,995 deal was without trading in my car. Plus he did me a great favor. I have known him for many years. If you trade I think Woodfield Mullers will do better. :) :shades:

Have selected this model to buy which is standard base offering with list price of $38,125 less destination, taxes et al. Questions:
    1. What have people been paying for this car?
    2. I've checked numerous sources and can not get handle on invoice cost - most say N/A. Anyone have this info?

    Appreciate your help.

    Invoice is $34774.10+$670 Delivery

I was offered $35,899 + TTL...best I have come up with thus far.

I am now in the same position that you are. How did you end up? Did you get the 07 TL anywhere near invoice?
  • achang28achang28 Member Posts: 2
Jane111, I'm also shopping for this kind of TL, and a low price i've come across thusfar is from Oakland Acura. I was quote invoice (30,677 + destination). Ask for Wayne. I'll keep you in the loop with other, better quotes. Let's tag team on this!

I go a great deal from valincia acura for a 06 TL w/o Navi for 28,300. Grey 6 speed stick with black interior. I didn't see much diffence in 07 and 06 except for styling and arrangements of lighting. I don't know if this was a steal for that price or not, but better than paying for 07 at 35000.

Just bought my 07 TL automatic w/Navi from Pohanka Acura in Chantilly, VA. Paid 34,125 + TLL. They were eager to accept, which obviously means I could have done better, but I'm not disappointed. Service was very good, and the buying process was very smooth.
  • achang28achang28 Member Posts: 2
Was quoted invoice for 07 TL base w/o Navi @ Oakland Acura about 3 days ago. I didn't buy, however; but I got the 06 model for 28,600 (included destination, wheel locks and all-season floor mats). I got it at Sierra Acura in Alhambra, Ca.

Does anyone know of any dealers that still have 06 TL's with Nav in stock in the NYC/NJ area?
  • guestguest Member Posts: 770
Have you tried DCH Heart? They have two Acura dealerships. One in Wappingers Falls and one in NJ.
  • niceguysanantoniceguysananto Member Posts: 12
Just got an 07 TL w/navi below for $200 below invoice, then paid $100 for window tint (normally 269.99) in Houston, TX dealer. If anyone would like the same deal, just shoot me an email niceguysanantonio@gmail.com and I'll let you know who to contact.

Does anyone have any ideas regarding getting a good deal (close to invoice) on a TL 2007 w/ Navi in any part of FL. I am new to the area, close to Tampa, but willing to drive to Miami, or Jacksonville to get around paying that rediculus $500 prep fee that some dealerships are charging. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks
  • ggesqggesq Member Posts: 701
When I was in the market back in 05, the lowest prices I got were from Acura of Orange Park in Jacksonville and Acura of South Florida in Ft. Lauderdale. I live in Tampa but eventually bought from Acura of SF- my parents live down there so I knocked out two birds with one stone. The Acura dealer in Sarasota alo provided pretty competitive pricing but not as low as the other two.
The Acura dealers in Tampa, Clearwater and Central Florida were a complete waste of time for me. They couldn't compete with price or service.

I was at Scanlon in Fort Myers today trying to buy an 07 TL-S 6MT. I had set a personal limit of 38k OTD (this equated to a purchase price of $35,644 or ~$200 over invoice). Their best offer was $1000 over invoice. He said at that price, they would pretty much make no money. He also said that they do *not* have any holdback - 3% or otherwise and also that the 4.9% financing deal ends today.

It was hard to walk, but I've seen better deals on here and from experience, once a limit has been set, it cannot be broken (well, maybe that's just a rule that I have to hold myself to). Plus, I didn't feel that he was being straight with me, with the holdback and financing.

I also had an invoice offer at Ed Morse in Pampano, but mysteriously, the morning that I was supposed to drive over there and close the deal, all of the 6MTs has been sold. 3 in 2 days. hmmmm.

The Sarasota guy is supposed to call me tomorrow. We'll see what he offers.

At any rate, it does seem that FL dealers are not dropping like some other areas.
  • bgcars56bgcars56 Member Posts: 2
Thanks for your insight guys. I have also been setting the deal to 200-500 over invoice. I am going to start the internet bidding wars and see what happens. I definately agree that the prices in FL do not seem to be too great. I am very shocked that, with the population in FL, that the prices have stayed as high as they have. Oh well. I am going to try the SF Acura dealer and see what happens.

Thanks for all the information posted here. I just purchased a '06 TL base model for 28.8K before tax and fees from Goodson Acura in the DFW area. I did most of my bargaining through the dealers' internet sales dept. and the best quote I got was 29.4K. I went to the dealer with the lowest quote and asked for car at 28.3K - the lowest quote from this forum. However, dealer flat out rejected that price. It took about 10 minutes after that to get the 28.8 deal, so I think he would have done the 28.3K deal if I was more persistent. Also, the dealer added $300 to the price later for wheel locks and VIN etch etc. which he refused to negotiate on. Looking back, I think I should have bargained with OTD price instead of car price. Does anybody have any idea whether I should get the Acura Care extended warranty, Lojack, Ding/Scratch repair warranty? Thanks to all and, by the way, avoid Vandergriff Acura if in DFW - very dishonest dealership.

Just got a lease on the Type-S with purchase price of $36,518 at Glendale, CA. I know it's far from the best deal, but no hassle internet match.

Happy New Year, and tahnks to everyone on this forum for help!

Try Rick case Acura in Ft. Lauderdale ask for Josh. I just returned from there and test drove a TL/s they have plenty and are dealing. I'm going to Sanford Acura so my wife can test drive one today. If she likes it I will go back to see Josh tomomrow .I was at the Pompano Beach Acura dealer also and as of yesterday at 10:00 a.m they had 6 TL/S on the lot

I got my New 06'TL basic from Goodson Acura a month ago. I fixed the price on phone/internet for 28.7K. He was asking 28.9K. I drove 4 hours to buy the car. On seeing the new car, I was sold! Well when paying for the car they charged $300 for locks and number etching. I called the sales person and told him, he said on phone was 28.7K+TTL and he never said anything about $300. He was like I did mention about fee with TTL on phone. I felt I was cheated into the deal as Vandergriff was giving 28.9K and he duped me over phone as he fixed 28.7K he took my credit card number and kept 2K on my card. So the car cost me 29K at Goodson but I love my car, even though I felt I was cheated by the dealership. I live abouot 4 hours away from Irving I didn't get ding/scratch warranty but got $400 tires/rims warrenty for 4 years as my car insurance doesn't cover that. Lojack was not avaliable in my state but was told it will bring car insurance down. Be careful at Goodson, but I love my car. Car is great, price in end 29K is lower than what Sherevepart or other TX dealers were offering then.

I loathe the rims that come on the TL/S. Anyone know what invoice is for the optional 17" rims? I do not need/want the summer tires. Thanks in advance.
  • dhodgedhodge Member Posts: 7
I got my 06' TL with Navi for 33k OTD at Miami Acura...I live in Ft Myers and they couldn't match that price at all...they will boast that they don't charge for the 599 fee but they must tack it somewhere since they can't beat others prices and they do charge for the fee. You will get BS on what is in stock and not....one note...ALL dealerships can tell you who has what on their lot..Naples was telling me they had my car but 3 other dealers said that Naples doesn't have it, their just trying to get me to come in.
  • cpaq5cpaq5 Member Posts: 10
I would recommend trying Delray Acura. I have a TL 06 w/ navi at invoice plus 500. Hassle free. Car came with wheel locks. Bad dealings with Rick Case Acura.
  • mth3mth3 Member Posts: 6
Sounds just like my experience. Hopefully, someone may find this information useful as there are still 3-4 '06 TL base models sitting in Goodson Acura's lot. THey are not going to last much longer but I bet you could get a good deal on these as it is 2007 now and the car is offically a year-old model. Also, never get the options for the Acura at the dealership - you can do comaprison shopping on Acura's estore and there are other aftermarket websites that sell genuine Acura parts for a much cheaper price.
  • mth3mth3 Member Posts: 6
That was a lot better than I could do in the DFW area. My final price was 28.8K for same car except mine was 5AT. I agree, the 06 and 07 are almost the same car except for some cosmetic changes. I tried to use your posting to negotiate price but dealer was reluctant to match any internet-based information and also said they cannot honor prices outside the DFW area. Anyway, your posting still helped to speed up the negotation process.
  • starman98starman98 Member Posts: 119
In the DWF almost all 2006's are all gone Vandergriff is sold out and I think McDavid has a few but they are all red in color.
  • chaperoahchaperoah Member Posts: 30
Good job on the walk-out! No hold-back is BS. I got my S-type for 35,500 here in San Diego. If I can get that price is one of the most expensive states in the Union, so can you. My OTD price was about 38K like you are aiming for too.
  • mth3mth3 Member Posts: 6
You are right. In DFW, Vandergriff is sold out and David McDavid only has red. However, Goodson Acura has 3-4 06 TLs sitting on their lot and there are silver, white and red colors. As I said before, beware of some of their marketing schemes and always ask for the OTD price with all the fees and taxes included, not just TT&L. I would start at 30.5K OTD without any warranties or options - never take anything over 31K OTD at Goodson Acura. Remember, you can always go back and get the warranties and options at any Acura dealership later after the car has been purchased. Contact me if you need the dealer's number or e-mail that I dealt with.

In looking for an 07 TL I was quoted (in December) $31,847 + TTL for a base TL and $34,123 +TTL for a Navi. These prices were quoted by the Internet Mgr from McGrath Morton Grove. McGrath Westmont has routinely beat any other quote, including those from their own family of dealerships. I plan to check there soon. Are there any better prices in Chicago?

Has anyone heard of any new Acura incentives for the TL?
  • niceguysanantoniceguysananto Member Posts: 12
Several people contacted me regarding the price I paid for 07 TL with Navigation. I paid $33400+TTL, $200 below the $33600 invoice. Bought in Houston, TX. Very cool manager, very nice salesman. It was a pleasant shopping process. When I'm spending 30 some thousand dollars, I wanna be treated well.

Before I bought my car, I called dealers in Austin, Dallas. They either gave me higher price or bad attitude on the phone. Here's some short stories.
Salesman from Goodson Acura in Irving, TX asked for $500 non-refundable deposit to secure the $33100 price I asked for. Very fishy and dishonest. I said I needed to talk to manager to finalize the price, then I could drive to Dallas the next day. He refused. I said "I only needed a promise", what if I just come tomorrow without paying the deposit, it's not like the car will be sold out. He was like "if you don't pay the $500 deposite now, I can't garantee the price be the same tomorrow. inventory may change, blah blah......." [non-permissible content removed]. This was the BS of all BS I've ever heard. I told him I barely started talking to him 5 mins ago and his promise was not worth $500 of my money. He was like "you called us, we didn't call you." I almost said the F*** word. I hang up, this man was too pathetic. With attitude like this, he will be making very little money live poor for the rest of his life.

Then Taiya from David McDavid Acura of Austin tried to sell me a used 06 TL with 8000 miles on it for $34999 + TTL, tried to rip me off. Keep your alert level up when dealing with female salesman. they're just as dangerous as male ones. I told her I could get a brand new 07 for even cheaper than that. I asked if she could do $34000+TTL for brand new 07 with Navi. She said there was no way what so ever she could do that, and she sounded like she had no interest in my business. (Actually I got an offer for that price from a houston dealer already, it's just Austin was nearer to me than Houston) so I said thank you and hang up.

San Antonio Gunn Acura doesn't negotiate price, $34799+TTL, and the car had around 600 miles on it. It was an 07, and they wanted to sell it as brand new with so much miles on it.

Overall, I'm happy I chose the right place, even though it was a 3 hour drive to houston. Car was clean and got a full tank when the car was delivered. Salesman even paid out of his own pocket to buy chips and peanut from vending machine for my girlfriend. I know it's only a dollar, but it's not about the money, it's about the way he treated us.

To all of you still out there car hunting, if I can be of any help, please let me know. my email's niceguysanantonio@gmail.com

    Good luck to you all.

PS: Don't buy accessories except for window tint. you can probably get original Acura accessories cheaper online.
  • mth3mth3 Member Posts: 6
All you potential buyers in Texas and neighboring states, listen to niceguysananto because he is telling the truth. I recently purchased an '06 TL from Goodson in Dallas and his experience sounds very similar to mine. Goodson seems to be offering you a good price at first but will definitely make up for the loss later on by adding all kinds of fees and a $300 non-negotiable price for wheel locks and VIN etching. If you are ever to deal with Goodson Acura, always negotiate the OTD price not the car price. Also, never buy any accessories or warranties at the time of purchase but do some comparison shopping and get the best price later. I have learned a lot during this month about car buying and hopefully others here can benefit.

PS: Just out of curiosity, was the Goodson salesperson's name B*ll Co*pere who does internet sales?

Just want to tell you about the experience I had when I bought my Acura in DFW. (and want to make sure that David McDavid doesn't get any business from honest people)
David McDavid quoted me a price and then backed out of the deal stating that they had misquoted me a price with out Navi when I specificly put it in the email. Goodson made me an offer, but "forgot" to add all the fees and such to the quote. Vandergriff, good price, and in and out of the dealership in 30 minutes, great service and honest. Love the car.

Last week bought a new 06 TL w/o NAV, with 24 miles on it at Weir Canyon Acura in Anaheim Hills. Bought a black/black with the Chrome Acura rims w/Michelin Tires. I paid $ 28,400 INCLUDING the chrome rims (retail: $ 1695/Dealer Cost: $700)
Plus, the salesman threw in the protection pkg. for free.
Not including the rims,I paid $2600. under invoice. Checked out the 07 extensively, and felt that the small difference was worth saving at least $4500. w/the rims. What an awesome car for $28K. And, as a added perk: my 1st tank of gas, MPG: City: 17/ Highway 35. And to think I almost bought an EXL-6 Accord for just $3500. Less......

I got mine from Ball Acura down in National City. Send me a message by clicking on my profile and I will send you the quote I got from the dealer (35,500) and all the info you need to get the same deal. Since you bought from Cush before, hopefully they will treat you well now. But the guys down at Ball were great, easy to work with and down-to-earth.

    1. Sale price for the Base 2007 TL is $32498. A new tag is $69; taxes are $975 and our doc fee is $379. This gives a drive home price of $33921.

    2. Price $34,295 -1400 Costco Discount = 32895 Tags 69; taxes 975 and doc fee of 289. drive home price $34,228.00

You mean if you didn't want the chrome rims w/Michelin, you could have paid $26705 ($28400-$1695) for an 06TL w/o NAV? That is a GREAT deal. :)
  • darballman1darballman1 Member Posts: 55
No. Actually, my lowest priced offer was from South Bay Acura w/ a price of $ 27890. w/stock wheels. Weir Acura said they would match that price, but could not take off the Acura rims. So, they said said, even though their cost was $ 700, they would sell me the chrome rims for $400, bringing the total price up to $ 28,400. It was after I signed the paperwork that the mgr. saw the upgraded Michelins on.
