thanks!!
So your quote sounds very good - $1,500 below invoice (my numbers include the $900 destination).
Good luck!
The $27,300 is not a quote or offer, I am just asking what is a fair purchasing price in Brooklyn, NY 11204 area. I want to get an idea how much people in this area are paying for their 2016 Honda CRV EXL AWD.
Easiest way to do this is:
Email 10 dealers contact thru there Internet dept. . Let each dealership know you will buy said vehicle for X- price today if they meet your offer. Then wait till July, 31st and make your best deal . At worst 26,500 can be had from above dealer.

More buyers should post finally deals with the breakdown numbers. NOT JUST OTD pricing which leaves us clueless unless we live in that state and are familiar with there taxes and rate, , dmv fee's, doc fees, etc.
Some buyers due lie about there great deals. ......................... I spot them a mile away.
I find that thru the years helping buyers get a better price are achieved thru knowing target price ranges in there area. and my buying tips and know how recommendations . Most uneducated car buyers and bad negotiators will never get that better target price I speak of. They still can make a good sound deal thou by doing some homework and educating themselves .
Sometimes you need to read thru the lines in these forums. If I'm buying in lets say NY and some posters claim dealers are quoting xxx you can fat check those prices by sending out your own emails and making calls, using a True-car quote or the Costco program. Use this forum as a price guide thru the states .
Let me further help you If you plan on buying a 2016 exl, awd in NY / NJ . $1700 to 2300 below invoice price. is a good solid target range to buy here in NYC area. Can you or I negotiate a better deal I might but only we could answer that question............... and here is how to do it.
When your ready TO BUY On THAT DAY. Email , Call, all your targeted dealers in NY / NJ. Tell each Int/ MGR if they meet your price of XXX you will buy that minute and leave them a credit card deposit to show your serious . Dealers that can't meet your price leave your number and let them know you will be buying by July, 31st. listen to all counter offers. make your best deal on the 31st if your price is not met sooner. Remember we as buyers have the most leverage in price negotiating at the end of the month. Your putting each dealer on the spot that moment for a sale. That's why I make better deals than almost everybody. I play the game starting on the 2nd to last day, last day of any month or ending quarter . Pitting one dealer against the next. Most people read what I'm saying but start negotiating to soon . Avoid dealer BS negotiate at months end.
Im..................... me if you need more help................... Good luck MR Ted

NJ doc's ....................$300 / 400 you need to compensate this fee by lowering your asking price.
So in NJ if you could get 2300 below invoice your really buying a 2k below invoice . Still a good deal but be weary of dealers doc fee charges in NJ . Ask all NJ dealers when you email them what they are?
What I do is if I targeted 50 dealers for a CRV sale I like to get each dealers int/ mgr. name, and email and ask each dealership prior to me calling back for the sale what there doc fee charge is ? This is pre homework along with my outside finance already in place so the dealer can match or beat. Now on the 30th I'm ready to send out my emails, calls to these dealers . I'm ready to buy that day. I like to call each dealer and speak with the MGR one on one. Emails will work just as good but for me its to time consuming with all the back and forth. Direct calls usually nails it down for me.

I would target a 2k below your models invoice price as a very good buy in your area of TX. . Many have posted that dealers are gouging us on added unwanted accessories.
Your models invoice price Touring, fwd model w / destination = $31,112 @nada pricing
I think most deals good deals will be in the 1700 to 2k below invoice price area this month. Anything higher is exceptional. Dealers with limited touring models may not sell as cheap.
Post back your findings and dealer info to this forum so we can help each other save a buck or two.

Pohanka and Criswell Honda are both on the way to Ocean city, MD . I sent hundreds of buyers there ( out of State ) for Accords Civics and CRV's. Never a problem . These two dealers are favorites of mine in MD. Cant hurt to place a call to the ( Int / Mgr. ) and ask for a price on your model. You will save 1k buying in MD plus your passing thru there.

My zip code is 12019. Thanks in advance!
Btw, dealer did not mention about the destination fee from the quote?
What's your breakdown like? (selling price, taxes, fees...)
Thanks in advance!
Your quote before the fees is $1,868 below invoice.
Good deal - California was pricey for Hondas not all that long ago. Nice that the lower prices are continuing as the model year wraps up. It's possible that you may even beat your quote, depending on how hard you want to work shopping your quote around.
(all my numbers include the $900 destination btw - from your post it doesn't sound like your dealer is trying to add any junk fees).
Dealer's occasionally will balk at that and say they can't do the same deal for cash (since they are counting on that bank kickback). So they'll try to bump the price up. If that happens you can go ahead with the original deal and then pay the loan off early. It's unusual for a car loan to have a pre-payment penalty any more.
Or skip the games and tell the dealer you can go either way, and you'll finance if that's the best deal, but you'd rather pay cash. Haven't checked on incentives lately but if there's a cash and a low APR incentive, it's usually better to take the cash. Hard to beat free money though if they have 0% financing.

My breakdown: sell price 24980, fees 222.5+75, Tax 2020
So your selling price is $1,546 below invoice.
I don't know your market (even though my wife has some cousins over in Herkimer). I think that's a good quote even though you'd do maybe $500 to $1,000 better down by NYC. But NYC is a bit of a drive.
You might hem and haw and ask your dealer to share some of that $750 Honda money that @kyfdx found. But you're doing pretty good with that quote and your fees aren't too bad.
Congrats!
Hopefully we did good!
TMV and Invoice are about the same in the Detroit area, around $26,550.
So your selling price was ~$2,250 below invoice. Pretty durn good for Michigan.
(My brother called me this morning, standing in front of my old house in the U.P. Forgot to ask him if they were traveling in their Odyssey or their F-150. Sounds like prime weather up there right now - enjoy cruising around in your new CR-V!)
Thanks for asking. The Touring was for me. I learnt to live the vibration for now. Not sure if I trust the dealerships to fix the problem. May be, I will ask them to take a look at it during the first oil change service.
EX was for a family member. Thanks for confirming that we got a good deal. Michigan dealers are tough to deal with during the negotiations. There are couple of dealers who are very nice to deal with and very reasonable on the price. I would recommend the following in Michigan area:
Victory of Monroe (Very nice sales people to deal with)
Tamaroff
Page Honda
YMMV on the pricing.
Thanks.
FWIW, the dealers down here in Las Cruces and El Paso aren't very aggressive either, and they try to dump a lot of stupid add-ons to the price too. I don't think I could match your deal here.
I'm surprised at your quote (in a good way). An old friend of ours lives up in Lincolnville and that doesn't seem to be a cheap part of Maine. I guess you're close enough to Portland to enjoy some competing dealers.
Your selling price is about $1,750 below invoice (the TMV average price paid is $400 below invoice).
Nothing you can do about the taxes but your doc fee is about $400 too high. That's pretty typical though and that's where the dealer is making a good bit of their profit.
Try countering $26k even and don't fret if they don't budge, you're doing good as it is.
MSRP $34890 (inc. $595 wheel locks, cargo mat, flaps)
$29994 (inc. -$500 military +$900 dest)
$1253 taxes 4.15%
$599 admin fee (ugh...)
$116 title/license
$31962 0.9/60
This is what i got quoted for... what you guys think?
The Total OTD for the CR-V would be:
2016 CR-V EX FWD
Vehicle Price: $ 23,386
tax: $ 2,346.60
gov't fee's: $ 368.75
Total OTD: $ 26,101.35
Your selling price is just about $2,000 below invoice. California prices have been much more aggressive in the last few months. Looking good from here.
If you want to shop the quote around, try Concord Honda - just read about a good deal another forum member got on an Odyssey there yesterday.
Is $27,500 is a realistic number for my area? It seems if I get below $28K that would be a good price for the EX-L.
So your quote is about $1,300 below invoice but only $800 below the average Raleigh price paid. The doc fee pretty much eats that up (figure $300 of that is the True Car fee).
Looks like an okay deal but nothing special from here. If you have time and don't mind a bit of hassle, you can get some more quotes, maybe expand your search area. Or if you don't need a car today, you could wait until the end of the month when the best deals happen. The issue with that is that inventory is shrinking now that the 2017s are in the pipeline.
About financing, it never hurts to get your own rate, just to keep the dealers honest. But you won't be able to beat the 0.9% - plus dealers make money putting loans together so if you bring your own financing to the table, the deal will likely get worse.
I don't need to buy the car today. I'm driving an old 2000 Accord that has minor issues, but is still in good condition. The AC definitely needs the freon topped off which is pushing my husband to buy the car today.
I don't know - if you aren't in a hurry you may want to let the dealer stew a while and see if they call you back in a week.
That said, while I can put up with a lot in an old car, a dead AC pushed me to sell our last one. And I grew up in the South and I know a good AC is a must. And it looks like you drive them forever so another few hundred bucks isn't going to matter much over the next ten years.
I am looking to buy 2016 CRV EX AWD in Chicago area. I will appreciate any feedback on the following quote:
Price (Destination included) $23,875
State Documentation Fee $169.43
New License Plates Illinois (including State $25.00 EFT) $221.00
Tax Based on residence
Thanks.
So your quote is about $2,650 below invoice and that's very good. And your fees aren't too bad either.
Enjoy!
