I saw the new redesigned 2016 Honda pilot. What a nice car! It was loaded so it was probably around 40 grand. But it was beautiful and very sharp. Looks almost like the Chevy traverse with the rounded back.

Honda did no favors with their pricing.$36k for a base LX, $47-$50k for an Elite. The EX is going to be upwards of $40k with no leather or any of the safety improvements. To get the safety stuff you have to go up 2 more trims to the Touring or Elite at upwards of $45k.
My wife has a bad case of Silver-H-itis when it comes to looking at new vehicles but for the money, I'm thinking it's not worth the cost.

New Honda models have typically come out swinging when it comes to prices but they tend to be more reasonable once the hype wears off. I remember the current model CR-V was 26k for the base model which was a significant increase (almost 4 grand) from the previous model and now you can get into one for about 23-24. Bet the Pilot could be had for low thirties in the fall/winter time period once the inventory comes up to speed.
Saw a new base model Lexus NX in what I call "middle aged woman dark red", even more unpretty without the F-Sport gingerbread, and looks like it has a huge front overhang at some angles. Also saw an ATS coupe and a S63 coupe.

There was an old saying, that the 1961 Plymouth sparked a whole generation of Japanese movie monsters. Apparently its influence still has a stranglehold on Japanese culture...this time with the car stylists.

I saw a yellow Scion FR-S up ahead on the freeway today and didn't recognize it, so sped up to see what it was. While not my type of car, I thought it at least looked pretty nice in the yellow color. I have not idea what the car is like inside, hp, etc. though.
sat in a new pilot at the Honda dealer. IMO, a vast improvement over the last version. I expect they are going to sell a ton of them. My wife like the extra room compared to the RDX.
also saw a few more HR-Vs. I really like these. If they drive nice, IMO the will be selling a boatload of them also.
Traveling on I-80 coming back from NJ yesterday, saw a red Hyundai Veloster and on each side, just below the door handle, running almost from front to back fender and about 8" high... a graphic/decal of a piano keyboard. Also a smaller version of it on the front edge of the hood... AND... the driver had put their name in all CAPS stick-on plastic chrome letters on the rear of the car, just below the Hyundai logo.
Best I ever saw was back in the late 70's. Remember Le Car with the "Le Car" decal on the side? A guy had a beat up "harvest gold" Duster with "Car" on the rear quarter panel. Smooooooth

When I was in college, in the student parking lot, there was an old (maybe mid-50s) panel trunk. The main body (below the beltline) it was painted a kind of a light green. The panel part was painted charcoal. Centered in the panel area was a rectangle the same color of light green as the main body. Within each of the rectangles, in Gothic script, it said "Truck". I almost stole it.

I've now seen a couple of S-Class Coupes in the wild here. Quite lovely...and imposing.

Saw a new style Lamborghini today, don't know the models anymore, turn signals were like arrows. In this area, just don't ask where the money comes from.
The new XC90 looks great. I saw a white one with manufacturer plates, which is uncommon in Seattle. It was driven by two older women who were picking up patio furniture, so who knows what that story is.
I just got a red '15 Mustang from Avis on a business trip. Interesting experience as it is totally NOT the type of car I would normally drive.
The downsides are totally impractical, tiny trunk with high liftover, in-the-bathtub driving position and visibility, tiny side view mirrors, tiny slit windshield, incomprehensible climate controls, huge hood, huge side doors mean you need big parking clearance; slightly raspy engine (not sure what engine I have; I assume it's a 6?).
The upsides are: looks kind of cool; an amazing mix of old tech and new tech; ventilated seats are a new one for me; the windows nudge up/down automatically when the door is opened/closed to seal better at the top, and the one thing I found out coming out of a restaurant at night was the projected image of a mustang on the pavement - I thought it was painted on the ground! I finally figured out it is projected from the bottom of the side view mirror. I checked the other side of the car and both sides have it. The mustang image appears next to the doors of the car when you unlock it with the fob.

I've seen a few '16 Pilots on the lots, but I have yet to see one in the wild. I think the price is scaring a few people.

Well, sticker shock on anything is easy these days! Not sure it is even any more expensive than the old one, but I didn't check.
the one we sat in at the dealer was an EX I think, so relatively low line (but not stripped). Still had a sticker of IIRC 35k+, which was a lot more than I was expecting.

Also got behind a newish S5 cabrio with an "S-line" license plate frame. Isn't S to S-line a downgrade?

The "window drop" is actually very old tech. Nothin' new there.
I can also fit 8 full-size tire/wheels in my car.. ;-)

Rental will almost definitely be a V6, the 4 is an expensive upgrade.
