Jag F pace, out in public. Parked. Very sharp looking, but seemed smaller than I expected.

I think those are striking. Keep putting my hands over my wife's eyes, when I see one.

Tom, that's where I am. Stone harbor. So many expensive cars here, you become numb. Multiple ferraris so far, and Benz, bmw and Jag dime a dozen.

Spotted a new Volt, MB Metris passenger model likely a rental, new hockey stick 7er, and 2x Model X, one registered with no front plate because of course.

Fin - all these spotting's in Seattle traffic - how do you keep out of accidents. I'm thinking you could actually cut it in Jersey or Hotlanta B)

Maybe that's not black and a really dark cocoa brown?

I checked; the Chevy site calls it black/brandy leather.

I'm observant, also on foot for a few miles per day :)

Traffic doesn't scare me however, I've spent time in Hotlanta anyway, I don't see what the fuss is about. At least they move along.

We are Wildwood Crest, a few streets from Diamond Beach. Walking to the beach (beach block) the cars were stunning! Two black on black S550s, new C, brand new Escalade, mentioned the F pace, a few Infinitis and one lowly 06-11 Grand Marquis (someone had class lol).

Black BMW i8 in Chicago's River North neighborhood this morning. Went by fast enough I only recognized it by shape.

It's ironic isn't it? Cadillac spending gazillions on new product and so many of their customers say; "Give me an Escalade, please".

Lots of new Pacificas this week too.  Chrysler has a hit I think. Best looking minivan since the mid 90s Town and Country.

Haven't seen anything official yet from editorial, but Edmunds has a loaded Pacifica for the long term fleet. I lobbied hard this morning to let it live in Las Cruces for six months. ;)

I can see the blog updates now:

    "Does the cactus fit?"

"Can the air conditioning survive 105 degree days?"

"Using the Pacifica as a makeshift RV - thumbs up or down?"

Parked in front of fancy furniture store, a white BMW i8. Cool, think I want one. Also, at the dealer a white Fiata, I think I like it, too. Although the front end looks a bit ungainly. I can only afford one of these. Well, can't really afford either, but what else am I going to do with my $, pay for kids tuition??? Why, yes. Yes I am/will (only 5 more years!).

Saw 3 late/current model Ferraris and a Huracan in traffic today - fun place with a booming economy and more than a few people cleaning their money in the real estate insanity.

I was surprised to read the other day that Seattle was in the top ten big cities with "low" car ownership. Something like 17% of the population doesn't own a car - so my BIL is in pretty good company. NYC leads this list with something like 50% car ownership.
  • stickguystickguy Member Posts: 53,673
Saw a bently and 2 ferraris. In the same driveway here at the beach. Of course it was about 3 houses from the beach, in one of the most expensive towns on the east coast. Probably a 4-5 million house.

I can believe it, as Seattle has some transit in the urban core, anyway, and a lot of (fair weather) bicylists, to the point of devoting a bit of infrastructure to them, and the goofy ineffective mayor and useless council even getting involved with serious ethical issues over their handpicked and questionably qualified SDOT director . I wouldn't be surprised if the "Seattle" population is defined in a special way, like from Northgate south, and from Columbia City north, and including university students, of course. And I wonder if "own" is in the same category as lease or just use, with someone else holding the papers.

I'd wager in some suburbs, ownership is at 100% or more. You will be very inconvenienced, if not often stuck, in much or most of Bothell or Issaquah or Auburn or Puyallup without a car.

Nobody knows how to punish a car owner like NYC. But then, NYC has an amazing transit system.

Nissan 370Z cabriolet. Couldn't tell if '16 or '17 because they are identical.

But I can say that, "in person", it's not very attractive.

Geeze, Wikipedia says Seattle's car-free population in 2000 was almost 35%. Would never guess that.

Drove all over town today, didn't see anything new other than a Kia with temp tags.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,594
Maybe not new, saw an A3 E-tron today, and not new, a red ELR. which still stands out.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,594
Makes perfect sense actually. A lot of people maybe recently just got a car and learned to drive, which would explain the dearth of driving skill in the greater Puget Sound area.

Stopped by the MB dealer to make sure the sales survey went through (it was glitchy), it did and the salesman was pleased. Nice guy, so I was happy to help him.

On the showroom floor, an S550 cabrio, decent amount of options, 155K sticker. It's pretty striking, and it's a big car - another one that delivers 85-90% of a Bentley for maybe 55% the price.

Equus today, but hard to say what vintage it was. Second generation at least.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,594
We've ever only had the 2nd gen Equus, the one with "suddenly it's 2008" parallel universe Lexus styling. The eventual replacement will be branded as a Genesis - they finally grasped what many people suggested several years ago.

Wife and I just did an overnight in Baltimore and while driving down and back I was pointing out all the SUVs I want her to check out with me when we are ready for the next one. I suggested we go to the Philly car show and check them all out. She agreed, and then said that she will not go to dealers with me.

Saw a bunch of new Tahoes and Yukons. I can't believe how well they are selling. Seemed to be everywhere. Also saw two metallic brown Accord V6 Touring. Don't like the brown, but I really like the new style.

Spotted (2) new Q60 Coupes, very sharp.

Also visited the dealer this weekend to put a set off tires on my S2000 and they had a total of (1) Ridgline in stock (Black Sport). They are selling as soon as they get them and the rest are ordering them. I may actually make a move on that Sport if I can get over my OCD with owning black cars (my 2007 Impreza is black and it's been a challenge).

It's the front end that leaves me less than enthusiastic. If it had the front end from the previous generation Pilot, I could live with it.

Looks nice and clean to me. Though I also think the FS trucks are all brutally overdone at this point, and front ends way to blocky and bulky (false machismo?).
