More BMW number magic - the '30i' is for the turbo 4 2.0 liter engine, replacing the '28i' designation. This to combat MB's C300 with a similar engine.
But even in the pre-turbo era BMW played number games. At one point the '325i' had a 2.8 '323i' had a 2.5 l NA 6 engine, but they wanted to separate it from the '330i'.
edited- @qbrozen has it right, it was the 2.5l engine. And yes, this was minor, compared to the turbo-induced major number games now being played by BMW and MB.
But I don't believe that really started until the e90 era. The one exception I recall was the e46 323 with the 2.5. And I think some of the 318 models were a bit scattered.

2017 Golf Wolfsburg. VW simplified the models this year on the Golf, and the WB has a ton of nice features now standard, for a pretty good price. Almost like taking an SEL, adding some safety stuff, and chopping $4k off the price.
2016 Toyota Tacoma, pretty blue, special order with a six foot bed. Belongs to company who flew to Dallas to pick it up - it's going to supplement her 1990 Mazda B2600 with 240,000 miles on it. The salesperson quit so the order got cancelled back in the Spring and then the dealership got sold over the summer and when she finally tracked them down for a status report, the truck had just come in. Luckily they hadn't sold it out from under her. No hurry to buy it, it's not like the Mazda was ever going to die. She drove it up to Alaska and back this summer.
She didn't have a good reason to buy it in Dallas other than the fact that she wanted to visit friends there and then drive home to Arizona via our place and catch up with us.
Didn't order any extras other than a towing package, but she's amazed by the intermittent wipers, the backup cam and especially loves the cruise control.
Saw a new grille-less Tesla S today, wearing a front plate! Not a common sight here. Of course, it was making a right turn from a straight only lane, because Bellevue.
Saw a brand new unplated white fairly basic looking Corolla today - going straight through a turn only lane. Nearly directly in front of the police station. Welcome to Bellevue.

As a host, I should know this - but, where did the "Inconsiderate Drivers" thread go to?

A couple of Sundays ago when I was driving home at night from the boonies I was on a 2-lane road with a speed limit that varied from 40 to 50mph. For about 15 minutes I was stuck behind a Corolla that never exceeded 35mph, and most of the time stayed at 30. There is something about Corollas that attracts that kind of driver it seems.
Around here, they are popular with some drivers, and I won't say more. Also seem to have more bumper scuffs and sometimes Camry dents which might not paint a good picture of the demographic.

Not a new model, but the Safeway nearest to me has a new Ghibli parked in the foyer area for some kind of promotion. Welcome to Bellevue.
I also noticed construction on a combination REI/Trader Joes/Home Goods has just completed near me. No doubt I will be able to see all the latest models of Subaru and Prius there, along with the latest trends in beards and popular dogs
I looked at a new Acadia on a dealer lot. Size is much more realistic, no longer such a tank. I liked that about it and the overall exterior look, but was very disappointed by the dashboard design and controls though. The dash design is just kind of clunky looking, and the steering wheel buttons are covered with a rubbery membrane and so are not distinct buttons on the surface. You just know that over time that membrane will crack/tear.
Anecdotal observation: I am seeing a lot of new Civic sedans on the roads up here so it is obviously selling very well. But it seems that maybe 80% of them that I see are painted black. In fact today I was behind a blue one and that struck me as maybe the first I had seen in that color. Seeing all the disjointed angles on that rear end, maybe that is why black is popular because it makes them less obvious.
Judging by turn signal use on even newer models, I am not sure Range Rover has detached itself from BMW. If only there was an inconsiderate driver's thread
The nannies have apparently made a secret decision that the old thread was offensive to sensitive inconsiderate drivers, and made it inactive - new posts don't update it.
For new cars, saw a new Volt this morning - I see them now and then.
A friend said he looked at a new Continental yesterday - claims the sticker was almost 90K.

Any Chinese-built LWB models yet, aka nobody asked the question (on this continent) but Volvo answered?
You cannot get a platinum trim regular S60 anymore as of 2016 model year.
I have yet to see one, the only odd duck LWB I have seen is an Infiniti.
