Yes, think it was a Q60, a 2 door. Get my Q's and X's screwed up sometimes!

Yeah, I like the Explorer Sport also, but haven't driven one.  Price tag is steep, and I wish it came with smaller wheels. But, it would solve the problem that my Murano feels down on power at times.

Drove an X60 today and did like it! Hit the gas and damn, I was down the pike. Liked the comfy buckets and the covering felt nice to the touch, not sure if it's real leather but still, something I could live with. Being a coupe, the doors were a bit on the heavy side but, that's the thing about only having 2 doors, they weigh a bit more. Being a Infiniti/Nissan product, expect mileage to be pretty dismal but only drove it about 15 miles or so , so hard to tell on this. GG and NY would definitely know more about this but I get why they both like their vehicles.
In a perfect world, I could be happy with an X60 but since that ain't my world, nice to dream about having one though. But to be honest, in my mind, keep coming back to either a Mini Cooper or 328i for my next ride. Like the size of the Mini and everything about the 3 Series. What's the main difference between the 320i and the 328i? I know that the 320 can be had with a sunroof/moonroof, something I'm not willing to give up anymore. True, can only use it comfortably from November through mid April, but something that I no longer will compromise on. Would love a drop top but not sure I could live with the cowl shake and all the creaks and rattles that alwys seem to come with age.

    The Sandman :)B)

Sandy...depends on which one you drove. If you drove the 2.0T, I would imagine the MPG would be in the mid 20s.

NYC has the 3.7L normally aspirated. Not sure of his mileage.

I have (had) the 3.0 twin turbo 6. There are two versions of it. One with 300HP (the one I had) and the other is the Red Version with 400 HP.

I was pretty much getting about 23 MPG in mixed driving, and I wasn't being gentle. Took one trip where I got almost 30 MPG with my cruise set on 75 MPH.

So, not bad for a powerful car.

The 400 HP version, I have no clue. But, I heard that the MPG on that one isn't far off the MPG of the 300 HP.

I like Red (can you tell). I've got red all over the GG garage with the Mustang being red, too.

The rest of what I've seen is the typical white/black/silver exterior with black interior.

I'll take RED for a $100 instead, Alex!

It is decidedly not down on power...it drives a lot like my BIL's Flex EcoBoost, which I love.

@stickguy It is 100% a barge and I have no idea how I would park it on the street in front of my house without it getting hit constantly. That said, I still love it.

@stickguy - I know you aren't a big fan of black guts, but they do suit the Q40/G37X very well.  The White/Black looks great on the Q40/G37X.  I absolutely LOVE my car.  I think it would be a fantastic car for you as well. You don't drive a lot, so who cares about mpg.  The tires have a nice amount of sidewall on them.  The power and acceleration are all you'll ever need.  Transmission upshifts are smooth and it even rev match downshifts if you use the shifter manually.

I like it so much that I'd get another one in a heartbeat.  I've been thinking of ways to acquire a 2nd Infiniti for my wife in the future once mine is paid off.  We can keep her Pilot for road trip/weekend when all 5 of us are together.  Either a QX70 (FX), QX50 (EX), or maybe a Q50 like @graphicguy just traded it in.

Or get the big SUV (based on the pathfinder) and just replace the pilot!

I did like that white Q40. Though I think for about same money, I would take the Volvo wagon instead. Or save $12k and get he Buick. Though the $8k mini S is interesting.

I got some serious jonesing going on to get a different car (it is going on 3 years for us, not counting the kids Jetta). Just obviously, I have no idea what to get!

I'm at 19 months with the GTI, which has to be some kind of record for me.

My problem is that while I have the itch, I don't actually want to get rid of the GTI. Which makes things decidedly more challenging from both a financial perspective, and more practically, a logistics perspective with parking.

In other news, Safeco just jacked up our auto insurance rates by nearly 20% because they re-classified the GTI as being higher cost for repair and higher risk for bad driving. We went from $1800/year to $2200/year - the $1800/year was already high because of my wife's incident hitting the neighbor's house 2 years ago.

Well, I know that 5 months from this Thursday I will definitely be down a car. Just don't really have to replace it, at least not immediately. Or for any particular duty, other than spare car so we aren't sharing one.

OK, now this one, I love this one. Nicely equipped super low mile Volvo wagon, in perfect colors? At $23,995, this one is definitely cheap. Has to be under warranty too. Dang. This could be a winner!

Would the original msrp on a Volvo wagon like this be about $45k?? If so, that's a good discount given that it only has 5k miles on it. No accidents? Hmmm.

But the mpg on that Volvo is pretty low—23 mpg combined, compared to, for instance, 36 combined for a new Civic. Depending on how much you drive, that might cost an extra $500 a year in gas to drive the Volvo—although no doubt about it they are few and far between, with all the good things and not-so-good things that go with that.

I like the QX60 (Pathfinder Based) SUV, but am leery about buying a big SUV like that with a CVT.  Plus I'm over a year payment free on our Pilot that I have fanatically maintained.  With 93K on the clock it is going to last us well beyond the 100K mark.

I don't drive that much so can't save nearly that $. I would actually prefer that car with the 2.0t engine and 8 speed tranny. That is only with FWD, but I am fine with that too. Much higher MPG ratings.

My S60 had the 2.0t and got great mileage. It stayed with the ex so I haven't driven it in a while but I know mid 30's was common on the highway and upper 20's seemed to happen fairly consistently around town. Great little car that was fun to drive.

It seems @graphicguy and I are on the same sort of schedule when it comes to vehicles. It was 2 1/2 years ago that he and I both got new Cadillacs within a day or so of each other. Granted, he has gone thru 4 or 5 new vehicles since while I have stood pat, but still... ;)

If all the pieces fall into place then I will also have a new vehicle, hopefully by the end of the week. Confirmed a bunch of things and heard all the right answers. Stay tuned...

We have had this lease buyout discussion before. Apparently, having to pay all remaining lease payments is not a universal given. I'm pretty sure breld is who said he did not have to in his case.

If you want to buy your lease out, call the bank at any time and ask for a payoff. I did this with my Genesis and way back in 2006 the dealer did it with my 03 Avalon (they wanted it for their lot).

I think the S4 was already up-rated by most companies, but Geico had good luck with them, so my rates were very low compared to many other companies for most of my ownership period. However, at the end, they still raised my rates eventually as apparently they do get hit a lot by Lexus-type drivers.

I think the GTI should be classified as a wagon, I know my A3 was, and wagons are like mini-vans when it comes to low insurance rates.

Hmmm, I think my Kia averages about 6 more MPG than the TTS, but the TTS is easily twice as powerful with the tune, so even more than 170 extra horses :open_mouth: Also, the Kia does run on regular whereas the TTS gets premium. The other factor that makes a difference, sticky 180 treadwear Michelin SportCup2 tires with a 255/35R19 sizing vs. the Kia's skinny 205's on 16" wheels with Low Rolling Resistance Michelins.

The Alltrack 1.8T gets regular gas too. I'll have to ask my wife what she's averaging.

I wonder if just for fuel economy experiment I could fit the Kia's tires on the Audi. nah, never-mind, Korean bolt pattern is probably not 5-112.

That's around what I get in my M235i. Car and Driver just concluded a long term test of a 740i and averaged 26 mpg as well- not bad for a big car that sprints from 0-60 in 4.8 seconds.

The Explorer I drove today was quite the large beast but the seats sure were comfortable. Drove very nicely, smooth with seamless shifts but it felt big, truck big! Think after a few days, the excitement might wear off and then the reality of feeding the beast would be very unsettling. Would go with either the Edge or Escape but for the money, gotta be the Edge. It's like the right size for everything, and if buying a Ford floats your boat, easy decision.
The new Nissan Rogue Sport is something I want to try since I really do like the Rogue, even the base model we have at Hertz. Just does everything right and the Sport is supposed to be just a bit longer than my Golf. Great size, nice vehicle. But then we have the Buick Encore, another smaller vehicle that finally hits all the buttons with the 2017 refresh. That goofy infotainment center is now integrated into the dash properly and the new front and rear fascia isn't half bad. Saw one at the Buick store earlier today and I was drawn to it. One that I saw had really nice alloys that really complimented the whole vehicle nicely. Only problem with the Encore and Edge is that they're domestics and not yet willing to put my $ down on any domestic to be honest.
The Rogue Sport has been added to the short list. If the changes on the new Golf are nice enough, would put it on the short list to. Saw a pic of the new Jetta dashboard I think and liked it. The infotainment system looked to be more spread out and fit the dash better than my current one. Still a VW fan here.

I've sat in the Explorer, but haven't driven one. I need to start getting to dealers... Dec isn't far off and I need to replace the Enclave right after Christmas!

Oh, and I know I've flip flopped on sedan vs SUV. The Enclave will definitely be replaced with another large 3 row SUV. Wife really wants another one and I have to say it was convenient this weekend being able to move a loveseat and chair from our house to me SIL's.

Short list as of right now:
    2018 Traverse or Enclave
    Explorer
    Pilot
    Santa Fe (the bigger one)

QX60 is nice, but no Captain's chairs
MDX too, but Captain's only on fully decked out Advance model and even so has a huge console between them.

GG, Mazel Tov on the Acura. I like them for their Honda reliability and for me, the ILX is the sweet spot, also on my short list. But would have to give up the hatch, something I'm not sure I'm willing to do. But a blue or maroon over beige ILX could work.
28, feel the exact same way about my Golf. Do have the itch right about now, but the Golf has really been a stellar vehicle, absolutely love the size and the way it drives, great color combo. So, what do I do? Nothing is the answer, keep what I've got for the time being, and add to my short list. I know it'll happen again, what happened to me the 10 days I tried and eventually bought the Golf. There will be one vehicle, not sure which, where I'll get in, buckle up, take off and know, just know like I did with the Golf that it would be my next ride. I tried the Golf on December 2nd, 366 days after buying the Tucson. I was in love! Wife brought home her A3 that same day and after driving it a couple of times during those days, I just knew that the Tucson was history. Finally broke down on the 11th and sat down with the sales guy after the second test drive. After agreeing to the swapping of the alloys and other games, they upped the trade-in to what Carmax had printed out for me, we shook hands, and the Tucson was history! Didn't tell the wife either.
Next day, a Friday, left work early and came home to strip the Tucson of all my stuff plus the plate, and the rest is history. And I've never looked back since!
So, I know this will happen again, when it'll hit me like a ton of bricks, which vehicle will be my next. Some things one just knows, something I can't explain but think most in this forum know that feeling I'm talking about. And once that decision is made, there is no looking back, ever!

    Oh, we will ....

What's our punch count for the year?

    25. GG's purchase on 6/5 was the first one since xwesx's purchase on 5/8.

What's going on in here? It's like a flu or something that's going around, this buying new vehicles flu. Must be that time of year where folks are just wanting a change in what they're driving, just because they can. But, I'm avoiding this with all my might because I just am not ready to make a move. Am really happy for all the guys that are buying but unless I win the lottery or something happens to the Golf, I'll just enjoy reading about the rest of the forum's new rides. But, still reserve the right to follow suit just in case that ton of bricks falls on me to, to scratch that itch if it gets to me...if I catch this new car flu!
Have already let the wife know that though I'm not actively looking, and honestly, I'm not, to not be too surprised that within the next few months, I pull the trigger on something a bit nicer than my Golf. Just so she doesn't go batshit crazy on me if in fact this does happen.
My question to all you guys who have spouses, are they always on board when you do purchase something new or just different? I know you single folks don't have to clear large expenditures with anyone else. But us married folk most times do, even if we're spending personal funds and not joint monies. I know how mine reacts and it's always the same. The questions days , weeks and even months afterwards. But just curious if other households are the same. Not all husbands and wives are on the same wave length when it comes to spending money...and on what. Those can be interesting conversations, very interesting!!!

Prefer the 2nd Jeep as that red screams "RED", would prefer a toned down red to be honest. Think that would wear better myself but it ain't gonna be mine. Get what color you like best and remember, this ain't no lifetime commitment, one can always trade out at some future date. At our age, early to mid 60's, if we don't start treating ourselves to some nice things now, might not be around to ever do it. Have seen it too often and in my family even where death has come before the "gifts" were finally given to the beneficiaries and those left behind get use of it all. And though I want to leave my kids a little bit, there's no rule that says we have to leave anything.
So, enjoy it now, when you can. And never, ever look back! Ever since I turned 62, that's been my new mantra on life. Have seen my dad, and two siblings die too early, too early to enjoy what they worked so hard to get, never to enjoy the fruits of their labor so to speak. I decided back in November that that's not going to happen to me. I don't go hog wild, but if I want something and can afford it, I get it. And don't have to ask for permission, something else which is wonderful after all those years of saving and paying for all the kids stuff that they need. mine are all on their own, a couple making more than I do. For that I'm thrilled, honestly. Now, it's out time, our turn to just have some affordable fun!!!

interesting paint job on that. Looks OK to me, if you are into attracting attention to yourself!

I saw this one on the site. I like it. But mostly wanted to point out one of the incentives included; "low credit score incentive $1,500". Wow. I thought people with bad credit, paid more! I guess that is to offset the higher interest rate?

I read somewhere that the percentage of car loans that are sub prime is getting a bit scary.
