Ky, that cab with a short bed, I might be able to deal with.

I owned one PU for about a year. 1990 Nissan. xtra cab (the one with jump seats) and normal bed (only came 1 size). easy to drive because the cab was car like, but a pain to back up with the tailgate raised. Was probably no longer than the Odyssey.

OK, just checked. Dang. That truck was only 190" long, and 65" wide. Actually shorter than my Sonata, and probably 10" narrower than our RDX. Explains why I had no problem fitting it into the garage!

I think the bed on the one I'm driving is 6'4", and @qbrozen might be 5'6"?

You don't see many 8' beds, except on regular cab XL models.

No way I could get this one into my garage, regularly

    Yes, 5.5' bed.

Overall length is 232" per Ford. No way in hell can it fit in my garage, so now I have an unused garage bay.

Their curb weight table online is screwed up but they show 4560 lb for the 2wd version of mine and 4782 for 4wd with 6.5' bed. So it is somewhere in between those two numbers. Weight is almost exactly the same as wife's minivan but about 2.5 feet longer. Ford really did a heck of a job keeping the weight down.

If only they could apply their learnings to the rest of their lineup. Dropping 400 lb from the Mustang would probably make it competitive with the new Camaro without having to add power.

Yesterday I saw a mid-to-late '90s F-150 (the first sort of curvy one) that was a regular cab and short bed, probably 6' or so. It looked so small I did a double-take. Don't remember seeing them when new.

Trucks are huge these days. My 1995 Silverado extended cab seemed big at the time, but would look small parked next to my current F-150 Supercrew. One benefit that many probably don't realize until climbing into one is the rear seat legroom. It is absolutely limo-like and has more space than anything else I can think of.

At 50K, a very possible Yay. At 125K, nay.

If I had money burning a hole in my pocket and ample storage, I would sock one of these away - but I think you can get very nice ones for 50K.

Hard to find a pic of one of those '97 F-150s with the regular cab and short bed but this is as close as I could get. The one I saw was 2WD so it sat lower. Almost mistook it for a Ranger, it seemed so small.

Q - nice truck! I really like it.

@jpp5862 - it'll be fun car shopping/looking over the next several months. I really like the looks of the new CX-5, but it doesn't surprise me that you found the power underwhelming. Coming from the Touareg, I think you may have a tough time switching to a compact non-luxury SUV. Everyone seems to like the new X1, so that may be a good option.

@michaell - if you did like the Mazda6, seems as though you can find a lightly used one with a manual for a steal. I really like it at first, but last time I had one as a loaner (automatic of course) I was underwhelmed. Personally, I may choose an Accord Sport over the 6 at this point (and certainly when the new Accord comes out - Honda will be releasing more info on July 14th).

I've been racking the miles up on the Durango - had the Albuquerque trip a couple weekends ago; went up to Steamboat Springs impromptu for a couple baseball games for my older boy this past Saturday (about 3.5 hours each way all on Saturday); and we're going down to Mesa Verde National Park in a couple weeks for fun roadtrip - we're staying in...Durango, CO. Oooh! Weird.

Seems like these things come in waves, but there are a few BMWs that have caught our eye:

    '01 M3 'vert - low miles

    Manual 435xi

    E90 wagon - manual

These are all local to us - weird to have a selection of nice used manual beemers.

I really like that Laguna Blue M3 - 39k miles is crazy low, but $25k still seems a bit dear. But I could see the seller getting it if the right person comes along (me?). I imagine a coupe would be gone quickly - the convertible is a harder sell isn't it?

My wife is encouraging me on the 435 as a replacement for both the GTI and Clubman. Either way we'll eventually go down one car, but for now the smartest thing would be to simply sell the Clubman.

And the wagon? It's tempting - M-sport would be better, but a sport manual wagon is still a treasure. The 78k miles is not bad, but it'd be much more tempting with less miles - especially at that price.

Do some get driven more than others as assume three are owned outright while one is a lease. Or maybe two are on lease, just don't remember. Could see having an extra if leasing to keep the miles down on the lease.

We'll need some malaise era high inflation for about 15 years to get it to 125K, yeah.

If I had 50K burning a hole in my pocket, had no other hobby cars to pour it into, and had a place to put it, I would pay that for a mint low mileage TT Supra, but I want it blue with a targa top. Miles would likely remain low, as I might be a little leery driving it - few cars say "steal me" like one of these.

Q you list of cars on posts is out of date. Still shows Infiniti and Volvo.

So does your wife drive the LR, and the minivan sits? You seem to have an imbalance. Too many large utility trucks, and not enough small or fun cars!

I'm not remotely interested in one, but the Cadillac store in our dealer group is offering a 2017 ATS-V lease that sounds way too good to be true: $509/ month, 10K/year, 39 months, 0 due at signing. Cap Cost: $68,285.

Huh - I was thinking the 435 was actually the most reasonably priced. Not the cheapest of course, but just the closest to real world pricing. Hard to nail down a "reasonable" price for the 39k mile E46 M3 and a manual sport wagon.

If the pricing on that 435 does indeed start dropping closer to your estimated $31k, that would make a decision easier for sure. I'll keep an eye on it. ;)

@roadburner I have a genius related question for you on the 2016 X1. When we first got the car and my and I configured our respective seat/mirror settings, the car would adjust for each of us as soon as we unlocked the car depending on whose key was by the driver's door.

This seems to have stopped completely and now I need to use the memory seat buttons. Its not a huge deal, but for the life of me cannot figure out what changed. Neither of us has been messing around with those settings at all.

Any idea where we can look to fix it?

Not where we live, either. Plus my wife's (and my own) earning ability far outstrip the cost of childcare, so fiscally it doesn't make sense for one of us to stay home. I'd love to be able to make that business case.

If you have triplets or twins, the math gets better to not send them all off to childcare.

There's a setting that on the X1 I think is under "Doors/Keys" in the "Vehicle Setting" menu- "Last Seat Position Automatic" make sure that box is checked for both profiles(keys). You can also open the car with one key and go to "Profiles" (also under "Settings") and note which profile of the top two on the list is checked- switch to the other one and see if anything changes.

The profile function is nice but it can be infuriating if all you have to depend on is the owners manual.
