@corvette yes to to cheep sumthing might be up. don't trust auto cheek trust car fax mor do to past experience 2 years back my older brother whent to look at an car for my sisterinlaw 2012 chevorlet traverse they did end up byeing the car. turns out few weeks later on they braught the car in to the dealer for an shaking problem they said o the sirtified worantee you don't have one. tirns out she has an guy who is an client of hers that sells cars used car dealer. he ran the car fax for her. the car did not have 40k miles mor like 80k miles on it. that other dealer did no shore she did get all of her mony back from that dealer with out any problems and she was also able to trade in the car at the local hundai dealer and had got 6k for it on top of the 15k she got back from the chevorlet dealer she had baught that traverse from! that is the story sory for the rant!
Nah....I'd knock that out on a Saturday and drive that Mustang back home.
Speaking of Mustangs, I've decided to sell mine. Nothing to do with the car, which is fine. But, a while ago I had surgery for a detached retina. It did not heal properly, and because I had Lasik surgery many years ago, there may be little Drs can do to fix it. The result, I have very limited peripheral vision. I noticed it was getting worse over the last year or so. But, went for a check up last week and was presented with the very real possibility that it will get worse (resulting in potentially going blind in one eye).
Peripheral vision is most noticeably getting worse. In the Acura, Lane keep assist really does help.
In the Mustang, nothing like that exists. And, the last few weeks, the amount of "honking" I've endured in the Mustang for drifting over into another lane has gone up 5x.
I'm fine with an automatic. Would have preferred a stick if the one in the GT were good, but I don't think it's a big deal to have an auto. I think I'd still rather have an auto Mustang over a manual Camaro.
Bummer GG on the eyes. But better safe than sorry. At least you know a dealer now that really wants the cobra.
I know. That's why I was interested in the dealer's proposal. Not sure if I want to put a "For Sale" sign on it and sell it myself for a couple thousand more? Or, to just take it to the dealer who was interested in it?
Since I'm reading this discussion on my iPad... anyone have experience with mesh wi-fi? (eero, google, etc).
Just upgraded to 100 mg fiber optic internet, but it neccessitated moving my router to a less central location. So, while my wired connections are blazingly fast, my wi-fi is worse, in many locations. Trying to fix it.
I have a eero set up - three of them are set up around a two story house built in 1900. It fixed all weak signal issues we had and then some; I can get a clean signal out to my free standing garage in the backyard. Video streaming anywhere is no problem, and it used to be. App is easy to use and shows lots of real time data info that is interesting. I recommend it.
Thanks. I installed Google WiFi, yesterday. Easy to do with the app. Three units ($269 on Amazon). No weak or dead spots now. Probably could have got by with two units, but they don't sell those in a combo pack, so the third one was virtually free.
Whew; a lot of interesting developments here over the weekend!
@corvette - The windows on your Tahoe look so dark, I'm not sure I would want to drive it at night. But, tinted windows do look very good on white cars...! My Q7 is the first vehicle I've had with tint on the front windows (25%,, IIRC). They also match, or are close to matching, the factory tint on the rear, and I don't really notice it obscuring my vision from the inside. If I roll the window down, though, I can certainly tell the difference!
@graphicguy - Very sorry about your eye! I sure hope you're able to find someone who can improve, or at least stabilize, the deterioration of your vision quality. I'm not sure the vision loss is worth having an actual legitimate reason for lane-keeping assist! LOL
I finally managed to finish up the intended work on my wife's "new" Forester. It should be good to go (for a while) now. Still need to do all the work on my older rigs.

You just have to drive them. I've been looking at these too; looked at two over the weekend but convertibles. I was leaning stick going into it, but have to admit the automatic was better than I expected.
That is disappointing... I had planned on a manual since it wouldn't be a daily driver. Is the slushbox decent?
I had an '11 GT automatic. Tranny was fine with no issues, other than the fact that Ford didn't give it any manumatic selectability until 2013 (just on the shifter though IIRC; not paddles). I found it odd that one could get manual control on an automatic F-150 but not a Mustang in 2011, but I guess that's what the 6-speed manual is for. My 2015 has paddles and an effective sport mode with multiple settings including track.
As for the rest of the 2011, it was good. But a comparison to a 2015+ reveals how primitive it was in terms of interior, available features, safety options, and ride.

Mine was a 2014 with the manual. I never once missed a shift; however, the clutch felt like that from a truck and it once did a weird thing (which I have since seen other reports of) where the clutch pedal did not return to the up position until I let off the gas. This happened when leaving a toll booth and attempting to drop in 2nd while rolling at maybe 15-20 mph.
IMHO, the Coyote lacks low end grunt typically found in burly American v8s. Sounds great, though.
@qbrozen nice vet you posted above! how are things going with the Corenette? have you had any time to work on it an bit mor!
I have done a good bit with it. Got the stereo mostly installed and finally took it yesterday to get the AC charged. After everything I have done to get the cooling squared away, she seemed to hold pretty steading at about 180-185 on my drive. But when I went through the starbucks drivethrough, she starting climbing as I sat there. Arrived to my dad's and discovered a connection on the electric fan had come apart, so that would explain the rising temp while sitting still.
Charged the AC, did some other odds and ends, then headed home. This time, it did not stay cool. Even when I turned the AC off and ran the electric fan, it pushed as high as 210 at one point. I'm kind of running out of things to do here. I'm starting to wonder if the first overheating episode after throwing the fan belt did some damage that is now producing excess heat.

Remind me, did you replace the water pump? I'm wondering if you are having an oil flow issue moreso than a water flow issue, which might be causing the block to heat unevenly. Not necessarily an oil pressure situation, but one or more blocked passages, etc. Have you pulled the valve covers on this unit?

@qbrozen glad you did get a lot done on the corenette nice nice. sorry to hear about your still on going cooling isues. you did replace the radater and water pump? like others did say above clogged passage in the engian block! whair did you mounte the fule pump near the engian block? near whair the old stock macanical pump was? and it is working fine? just was wondering want to do the same with mine!
New radiator, new water pump, new 170 thermostat. Valve covers replaced and everything underneath looked good. Could be getting a little blowby from a headgasket. Could be a clog. Could be...still a number of things I guess. Pops suggests I run her without a thermostat and see what happens.
@Marcothecarguy1986, after reading the instructions, I decided to follow them and put the pump as close to the tank as I can and as low as I can. There is no good place for it back there, so I strapped it to the bottom front corner of the tank itself using plastic coated steel cable. Some might call it a feat of engineering, and some might call it a hack job. In any case, it seems to be working well.

So question for the CCBA folks, is there a specific time of year you look to shop for vehicles? Even as a newbie that has only been here for a short while, I gather for some there is no specific time but for those that lease and are shopping near the end of a model year have you been able to get a good deal in the face of declining residual values or do you wait until the next model year hits the lots but then have dealers who might not be as willing to discount...at least early on.
I'm asking because my grandmother is giving serious thought to selling her 2009 Sonata and asked if I would be interested in it. It's the basic 4 cylinder model with the only option being a sunroof. My grandfather bought it brand new in late 2009 and if it has 30,000 miles I would be shocked. I'm giving serious thought to buying it from her and holding onto it for a bit if I can't find a vehicle to my liking once the Audi gets turned in. I doubt it would fetch much from a dealer so I would probably hold onto it even if I bought something else later on. Appreciate the help!

Thanks @Marcothecarguy1986, she lives in a very small town in Central PA where everything she needs is within a few miles of her house. My grandfather always took great pride in his cars and kept them pristine and my grandmother has done the same. As you note the car is basic but it's served her needs well and it's not a bad car at all, I've driven it several times. Sounds like your dad has been able to get some solid mileage out of his Sonata as well, hopefully it continues to serve him well.

I think we touched on this before, but have you adjusted the timing? Maybe advance it as far as you can until it pings then back it off a hair. Completely different car, but my worn out 79 Continental with the Ford 400 would overheat if the timing wasn't spot on.
We did touch on it. I am set where it is supposed to be per what I have found on the interwebs, but I may try advancing it more. It is rather difficult because they state 36-38 BTDC at 2500 rpms, yet the timing marks only go to 15. I have made some marks with a crayon, but I'll have to do more.
