Yes, but likely only available on the top trim levels, so out of my budget.

Good advice, but only IF your life is short. :p
  • stickguystickguy Member Posts: 53,348
well, I did go for annual physical yesterday and got 2 thumbs up. So hopefully not too short!

Hey, I splurged a little. Got something new and kinda spiffy! And bought it so the monthly nut was torpedoed right there.

Maybe 8 months from now I will get more frisky with the next car.

My uncle is really old... 30 years older than me. I was thinking the other day... Whenever he passes, I should have 30 more years left.. not a bad deal!

Until I remembered that he is my uncle by marriage, and my father died at age 42. :(

my father is 33 years older than me. He still refuses to slow down (half the time I don't even know what country he is in). If I last as long as him and even close to as functional, I did good.

    best health to all....

the vanity plate possibilities for polestar are too mind-boggling. the car is awesome but its name implies excessive double-entendres. the light blue color is so very 1970s throwback, i love it.

blue cars are the best looking and yes marco this includes the blue cruze. however to help convince age-appropriate politically aware females to like me better, i prefer white 400hp cars, explaining that this is my contribution to help the earth's albedo and to reduce global warming. Also me being bald and caucasian helps reflect sunlight back into space whenever i step outside the white SS car without a hat, further helping to cool the planet (you're welcome!) .

That's a hopeful thought! My mom is 91, only takes 5 meds and 2 are vitamins. No diabetes no glasses. But my dad passed away at 85. He had 3 heart attacks over the years having the first one at age 58. I'm 58 now but so far this year I've only suffered a bit of heartache. But like they say, "a little bit of heartache never hurt anyone." B)

No joke - my wife looked up "Polestar accessories" online and did NOT get the results she was expecting.
I love it!  Years ago in the office, before we had really good firewalls, websense blocking etc.  Someone looked up a certain Sporting goods store.... let’s just say she never did that again.

did it spontaneously combust as soon as it hit 6 digits?

Unless I buy something well used and cheap, or switch jobs and add a long commute, don't think we will see that again. Just don't put enough miles on per year, and I am not keeping something 15 years!

But, congrats. Might as well ride it until it dies now.

@breld, a little late but congratulations on the Volvo, would have loved to try and work something out on the GLC but it's probably a sign we need to stick to the plan and payoff the Altima before jumping back into the buying fray :)

I don't think I could possible remember the miles on all my vehicles. Off the top of my head, I remember my first vehicle, Jeep CJ7 had about 112k on it when I bought it. The 300z had 169k and one of my 190Es had 162k. My first S70 was the only one I remember actually driving past the 100k mark (bought with 30k and sold with 115k). The Coronet could be over 100k, but no way to know for sure.

I have had plenty over 100k. Just not thinking I will get close to that on any of my current cars.

off top of my head, for recent ones, the Volvo had about 110K when sold, the TL 175K, and the Integra about the same. But was a long time prior to that I had another (probably at least 20 years).

The last car I owned that had over 100K was my 92 Accord, which was my first car. It was 10 years old and had over 140K on it when I sold it for the Maxima.

As long as I'm on the leasing carousel I'll never get that close again and we would need to keep the Altima around another 4.5/5 years to even sniff 100K.

    I ran my E39 528i to 135k, the Mazdaspeed 3 to 158k and the X3 to 192k. The 1975 '02 had over 200k on it when I bought it.

Yeah, if you buy them with 90K on the clock to begin with.

@graphicguy - safe travels and enjoy your holiday. We will have to try and connect on one of my (infrequent) trips to CVG.

New plan for next purchase. Hit every showroom and sit in drivers seats. Then pick the one that’s feels best, and buy one. Doesn’t matter what style car, how big, or price (with some sort of cap!). I think I’ve been doing it backwards, picking a type of car and trying to make it work!

Speaking of money (well, sort of), princess just about had a heart attack last night. Went in and registered at the student loan site, since needs to have a repayment plan in place by graduation. And saw her balance. As background, she makes me look like a free spender, when it comes to her money. But the total is almost exactly what my OTD was for the Elantra. So she can live with it. Partly her fault for accepting one this year I was going to pay instead.

So thinking to make up for that, and as a graduation present (and reward for doing well and having a good job looking lined up, meaning off my books!) I’ll slide her the Elantra at a bit of a discount. Probably just pay it off and let her make payments to us. But that part remains to be seen. Should work for both of us.

Is she going to be working in Education or for a non profit institution (such as a non profit hospital)? She may qualify for an interest only payment, and the debt is forgiven after 10 years.
