he is hooked on the brand. But as I pointed out, he now realizes that a lightly used one to let someone else take the initial hit. Either that or lease if the deal makes sense.

Congrats on the punch, @rny421 ! I love that shiny, fresh-off-the-lot look of black cars! Sadly, they don't stay that way for long around here....

Likewise! I think that front end looks better with the shield grille rather than what they have moved to now.

Drove a couple Q50's today and folks, that rush of acceleration is just intoxicating. I've yet to drive anything that gives that rush except in an amusement park. Knowing how much fun it could be, one must just forget about the mpg's because the beast is a hungry one!! But so totally worth it for the right person. Could be fun to lease one for a couple of years just to get that Rush on a daily basis but just for a limited time. Outstanding vehicle is all I can say folks, totally outstanding vehicle!!!
At the Ford dealer, finally saw the new 2018 Ecosport small cuv. Found the mpg's a bit odd, 27 city/29 hiway/288 combined. But I actually love the smaller size, saw an SE version and also a Titanium unit and give it a solid 9 for looks. They were all locked down but Ford jumped on the tablet as the infotainment center. But it works here, looked pretty decent through the window. Wore 205/60/16 sneakers which I like, decent sidewall with a lower price tire size at replacement time...had that size on my '06 Civic and they were you perfect compromise. Looking forward to getting some seat time soon so I can see how it drives. So glad that they finally get it that folks like me that want vehicles with less than 180 inches in length but making them attractive and fun to drive. Not a Ford guy here but if it checks all my boxes and also has that "ftd" factor, I'm all in!! FTD factor is my "fun to drive" meter and for me, the Golf had an almost 10 for me on the FTD scale which was the highest any vehicle we've ever owned got. You folks in here who drive super nice vehicles get it and am finding out one just has to find the correct vehicle to be happy like NY and his Infiniti or me and my Golf.
But, I know y'all know what I'm talking about here even if I'm not quite explaining it properly.

Spoke with the Enterprise lady this morning while the rest of the crew were out of our chase vehicle, perfect time to talk. Going for an interview next Tuesday afternoon. It's a 25 hour/week gig working Saturday, Sunday and a weekday which could work. She asked general questions about my driving record and all and thought to myself if you read my resume, you'd know most of the answers already but held my tongue and stayed polite. It's based in downtown Lauderdale which ain't a big deal as my first driving gig was right next door. Should be an interesting interview though the pay is $8.75/hour, a dime less than I get now since my pay increase last month.
But going anyways and will see what they offer. Could work out but might have to cut back at Hertz a bit and go back to the 25 hours/week that they hired me for!! So we'll see what happens next week and bottom line here...they haven't offered me anything yet!!!!

MY, nice looking car. You got that at my local dealer (I do a lot of shopping there, and live about 15 minutes away). What was your salespersons name?

Good luck with it! The seats really are great in it.

I knew someone on here was in the Philly area - I could've had you check it out before I went down. Next time!

I forget the salesperson's name... his card is downstairs, and I'm in bed already since I was up at 4:30 haha. The dealership was very nice, and the deal went together very nicely. I offered them my all in price, and they accepted. Drove down today, and the car was detailed and ready to go. We went for a test drive, and everything was fine. I handed over the check, signed a million papers (not sure why there were so many), and I was off!

I would have been happy to (twist my arm!) I actually did do that a few times for other posters.

No worries about the name. Just curious. And yes, very nice place and people. I bought my Volvo used there a few years back. They were actually in their old building just down the street. The current place is only about 1 YO.

I visited the BMW dealership over my lunch break:

The 435i xdrive gran coupe was really nice. I don't know much about it, but it has some "BMW Individual" choices that were unique. Exterior was Tanzanite Blue, which I believe is either an "Individual" color or otherwise specific to "M" cars. The interior was an ivory color with some darker piping, and I think it was some upgraded Nappa leather. And the dash was wrapped in stitched leather too. The door panels were some unique textured leather. I've never seen anything like that in a 3/4 series.

All that added up to a $62k MSRP, but of course those unique options aren't adding anything special on the used market and, in fact, I think the light color is a deterrent for many, so it's gone through some price reductions. So at $37k for a 2016 w/24k miles (and CPO), seems like a pretty good value, especially if you like those "Individual" options (which we do).

Driving-wise, it was a good balance between sportiness and comfort - the 6 cylinder is definitely a welcome addition over my previous 428. For me, it would be deciding how far along the spectrum of sport vs comfort I want to go (toward comfort). It's obviously not as engaging as my Civic, but the comfort would be welcome in the rush hour commute.

I also drove a CPO m235i xdrive - that was much more engaging (as expected). This particular one was pretty sparsely equipped, so I'd probably want one with a few additional options, but the driving experience was a better compromise toward the sport side of the equation.

The M235i/M240i and M2 are definitely my favorite BMWs- hands down. The M235i is more of a Junior GT- especially when equipped with the ZF 8HP automatic. The M2 is more of a hard-edged sports car.
And yes, Tanzanite Blue is an Individual color. We had an M3 and a 440i GC in that shade.
Going from my SQ5 to the 428i Gran Coupe was a fine transition, especially for more of an "everyday" car. Going from the Type R to the 4-series may be too much toward comfort, for a second "fun" car. Maybe...we'll see. I'm a sucker for those BMW Individual options - love having a car with some unique touches.

But yes, the M235i I drove was much more akin to the experience in the Type R, even with the automatic. This particular one was black over black leatherette, minimally optioned. I suspect if/when I find one in a more desirable color (let's say, white over red or estoril blue over black), and with a few more options that I'd like, I will find it much more desirable.

@roadburner - you've said a few times that you would like an M2 with the manual trannie, but an M235/240 with the auto (which, of course, you have). Why not an M235/240 with a manual? That may be a great car for me to transition from the Type R, though I'd have to go with RWD which, on that car, I'd assume doesn't affect resale as much as others here in CO.
The M235i/240i provides a more laid-back and relaxed driving experience than the M2; I think that the automatic is a better fit- and it's faster as well.
Likewise, the edgy M2 is a better drive with three pedals- and anyway, I think the ZF 8HP is superior to the DCT.

    Thanks for the feedback @roadburner.

Now this is what I'm talking about:

    2015 m235i

White over red, well equipped. And it happens to be at a local Carmax. This intrigues me much more than the plainer black over black one I looked at today.

Or this one is close by (and can be transferred for free anyway).

If I could change two things(besides eliminating the sunroof) on my 2er it would be a red interior instead of black and I'd add PDC.

@breld - I like the white over red one - similar to your 428, right?

A little smaller, a little faster - and, you could probably trade straight up with the Type R.

I guess I’m trusting that carmax has it priced reasonably - not the best price ever but at worst, fair.

Does make the 2016 435i xdrive Gran Coupe with all the nice upgrades seem like a good deal, no?

I much prefer the white/red. Price is typical retail asking. I'd want it $1500 less, personally, but you know how they work. Possibly a straight trade but you'd have to cough up taxes and fees of course.

On a personal note, it gives me flashbacks of my problematic 135i and, as pretty as it is, I find myself repulsed by it. BUT, in your case, you'd only have it for a few thousand miles, so it doesn't matter.

I really like the look, feel and taste of wood in the interior of a car. The aluminum leaves me cold... Of course, my XF has a wide swath of aluminum across the dash, but there is nice wood below, the center console and in the door panels. Even so, the wide aluminum is not my favorite aspect of my interior.

Most M2xx cars I've looked at have the aluminum. Not a deal breaker (probably), but if I have a choice, wood!

My instructor at an HPDE told me "I don't understand how, but I'm pretty sure you are getting around the track faster in this [135i] than I can in my M135."

If course, I'm not saying my car was faster than one, but I think that was a testament to how close they were in the real world and how difficult it is to extract any real extra performance between the two versions in this case. Made me think it wasn't worth the price premium.

Did someone say they liked red interiors (complete with non-matching car seat)?

Andres, you have to do something about that. I mean, some of us like grey cars, and some of us also like red interiors, but we ALL agree that a non-matching car seat is simply a bridge too far. I doubt I'll ever get that horrific image out of my head now. /shudders

Oh, and you may not have noticed, but your steering wheel is bent! :p

    Tennis anyone?

I may get hate for this, but that tennis ball look works so well on that car. Love!!!

Ah yes, everyone under 40 loves a flat-bottom steering wheel. I like it.

Reading Bristol West Consumer Reviews online today put me in a bad mood and brought back angry memories. I need to read something funny (@xwesx post above a good start) , or watch a funny movie, or drink alcohol to start the weekend now.

@Michaell - Thanks! It's a base model, but it has everything that was on my must have list I think. Don't remind me if it doesn't have something I wanted :D

LED headlights, sunroof, leather (quite soft leather, actually), heated seats, backup camera, automatic climate control, automatic headlights, power/memory seats, push button start

I’m 54 and the steering wheel in my (one step up from base trim) Jetta has a flat bottom wheel. I like it.

That would be enough for me, too. Just not sure I could go back to an NA engine after having my turbo Jetta.
