Can’t blame her. If I hadn’t bought when I did, I wouldn’t be doing it now either.

But that Porsche, if job 1 is go really fast, looks like a fine option! Plus, becomes a convertible at the push of a button.

    Big excitement.

Ohio Air National Guard just did an F-16 flyover. Pretty cool. 10 seconds.

While waiting to pick up dinner last night, two pair of F-16's flew over at about 500-1000'. I think Colorado National Guard is doing a tour today.

My older son's birthday was yesterday - his mom arranged a parade of cars to drive by honking horns and wish him a happy birthday (I was at the end of the line). Just before we started, those F-16's flew over. I thought to myself, "Wow! My ex really went all out for this!" :)

I'm willing to bet these are former loaners that they never sold/leased while there was lease support for 2018s. Now they get to celebrate a birthday.

soooo many reasons. Could be a former breld vehicle, for example. Maybe a repo, maybe an unwind, etc.
Exactly! Those of you who like to buy these lightly used vehicles should appreciate that there are those like me to put them back into inventory. :D

I emailed the ebay porsche seller. He tells me all the mods were done just 2 yrs ago. This is a 5th car for him, hence the low miles. And, yes, he'd cover shipping plus all importation documentation, to the tune of $2300.

    Sigh. Oh well.

Still not looking for another lease right now. Just like crunching numbers I guess.

I've been doing the same on a Passport, RDX A-Spec, and X3 M40i. No rush but it passes the time I guess. The last one is probably a stretch, less so if I can get loyalty however.
My dealer has a couple of 2018 X3 M40i in stock; one only has 3900 miles on it. I'm just scared I'd tire of it too quicly.

I have my eye on this one.

I’ve shopped those Benzs more than a couple of times....even the new gen (C Class). @driver100, I know you like your FL steed. I think yours is one a gen or two older.

I’ve never been able to warm up to them. Actually had a really good deal on the table on a C300 Coupe 6-7 years ago, which looked very sharp. At the time, uncharacteristically, the dash rattled, the drivetrain was gruff. Looking at scheduled maintenance costs, I was taken aback. Yes, I’ve owned high end vehicles and know that they generally cost more to maintain. But, the Benz seemed to be in an entirely different league.

Took another stab 4 years ago....current platform. My impressions hadn’t changed.

They didn’t drive badly. They just didn’t drive great for the money.

Maybe you have to get into the E Class and up to get the “real” Mercedes driving experience.

Benz dealerships seem to love having a bunch of service loaners and “demos” hanging around at good prices. Maybe that’s the way to go.

Was perusing @abacomike dealership to see if his S Class hit their used lot, yet. Not for me, but for my sister. She loves Benzs and Jags. S Class...super low miles....current generation...thought maybe she could score a deal by taking a trip to FL and driving it back. It’s not on the dealership web site, though.

GG, I had asked their GM if they are interested in purchasing it from MBFS - the lessor. He said probably not because cars like mine wholesale for $47K to $48K. The residual was $58K. So MBFS would have to discount the car to the dealership by almost $10,000. My guess is that they could easily retail my car for $52K to $54K.

I would have purchased it for $50,000 but MBFS refused. Car only has 20,600 miles on it and it is pristine. Recently had the B service on it and 2 new front tires.

If the dealer took it in trade, does MBFS have to put it on their lot for resale? How does that work?
Or might it show up anywhere after MBFS auctions it to one of their dealers?
Might have to search by VIN to see where the vehicle shows up?
Now I'd be interested in how much the vehicle gets put on a lot for retail.

Usually, MBFS first offers pristine lease returns to dealers in their dealership network. The dealership that takes back the lease return is the first one offered the car at a discounted number.

no. they have a bit of a delay. I have to get a bill of lading from the driver showing he picked it up, then email that to vroom and they will process the check to Hyundai and check to me. Big difference between the 2 is that Carvana has their own trucks and employees for transport, while Vroom uses independents.

LOL. I know the bread and butter of the IIHS was these crash tests, but the silly junk science they pass off as "studies" or "reports" would make a dishonest and corrupted used car salesman blush.

I'd sooner have Hollywood Actresses convicted of paying off college admissions officials for their offspring's benefit teach ethics classes before I'd have anyone from the IIHS do so.

Well, I got a TTS when I'd prefer a TTRS. Of course, my excuse is the TTRS came out nearly a year later and does cost quite a bit more.

@roadburner got a M235i instead of a M2; not sure what his excuse is

So maybe getting a V6 Mustang isn't as wingnut of a move as we thought....... on second thought, yes it is. I've driven a V6 Mustang; you really would be better off getting a Corolla S or Ford Ranger

That’s an alarming video. I no doubt they’ll have that fixed soon enough. I take those crash test ratings with a grain of salt. I remember my 2007 BMW X3 was either a 5 star Crash safety rated or best pick by the IIHS. The next year (2008), it wasn’t rated very well. It was the same damn vehicle.

Funny that the 2005-10 Mustang GT only had about as much hp as the V6 in 2011 but people still rag on the V6.

Well, there is an argument to be made for picking a performance car one step down from the top: GT PP over GT350, M235i over M2, etc.- but a V6 isn't one step down from a GT; it's more like 50 steps.
