Have you driven a Kona? Is the Tiguan too big?

Edit: I read Tiguan, my brain processed Tucsan. Oops. But a Tiguan (current style) really got big, so definitely going to be an issue for the garage.

I actually don't think he would like a GTI. Just a hunch. But a Kona, seems like a really good option.

OK, I didn't think he had a Tiguan but couldn't remember what it was.

I'll tell you what else looks to be a nice package is the new Buick SUV (Encore GX). Saw one yesterday at the garden center in white and it was sharp. It looked to be a loaded up model. I guess it's similar it size to the Kona, maybe a touch bigger.

Craftsman (formerly a Sears brand and now part of Black and Decker/Stanley) is built by MTD, who also makes Bolens, Troy-Bilt, Yard Man and Cub Cadet mowers.

Thanks! I just read a little more and see that Lowe's is licensed by SBD to sell the product. Other than Sears still retaining the ability to sell the products through its traditional outlets and resellers (such as ACE Hardware), there's no mention of other (new) outlets.

Speaking of mowers and lawn equipment, I went all in on the battery operated Ego line - lawnmower, trimmer, edger, blower, hedge trimmer, and even got the snow blower.

I love the products. It's nice to just throw the batteries on the charger and never worry about gas anymore. You know, kinda like @tifighter. :)

I have several Worx products. I bought most at a significant discount on Ebay, though directly from Worx. They have lithium batteries that are easily changed out and have good run time. For the relatively modest needs I have for yard work I am satisfied with them. What I didn’t realize until receiving the product the parent company is located in Charlotte, though the products are made in China.

I'm all in on the 20v B&D products - trimmer, blower, cordless drill, and inflator / air compressor. I will get the hedge clippers, at some point. Unfortunately, that's not enough juice for a mower, so I'd have to get something else.

I knew there was some kind of family money involved - even with his affable fun Youtube content, I can't imagine the views paying for his money pit fleet and mcmansion with the dream garage attached.

Hoovie used to be in the car business himself - sold them, then was a dealer himself and was not very good at either. Then he got into the restaurant business with family (I think) and got into writing for Jalopnik and now Oversteer after connecting with Doug DeMuro. That led to his YouTube channel which, given his 1M+ followers and sponsors, generates significant revenue to fund his habits - probably low-mid six figures (or more) annually depending on the engagement audience, sponsors, etc.

Also remember he lives outside of Kansas City, so the crazy house and garage probably does not cost what you think it does.

He must do well, and get tons of "donated" items. I know that the lift in his garage was given to him for advertising purposes.

WatchJRgo gets free parts in exchange for the good word on air. Vice Grip Garage also recently got a free lift and had it personally installed by the founders of the company for the channel.

These YT guys have stumbled upon a nice cash cow doing what they love.

I enjoy watching them over just about anything on cable channels.

The roller is up to 60K already, with 7 days left to go. At least Hoovie has the loan on it covered! I binge watched a bunch of JRgo recently, and in one episode he was at Hoovies and he mentioned owing 60grand on the rolls (and another 80 large on his R8)

Most of the interaction I’ve seen feels pretty organic and makes sense. Also, the more established YTers feel an obligation to help pay their success further - see Hoovie with Wizard and JR Go etc.

Just put a coat of 1Z Gummi Pflege Stift on the door/hood/trunk seals on the G37 and Tundra. Also put lithium grease on the latches and hinges of the G37. I don't think it makes sense to do that on the Tundra, given that it's a two year lease and they're not likely to corrode in that time... It probably was a waste to do the rubber conditioner, as well!

Pleasant surprise: The secondary seal at the bottom of the doors on the Tundra appears to be a triple (or perhaps even quadruple) seal. Maybe this is to prevent water ingress when fording a stream? The G37 only has a double seal in that area.

JR at least has not gone too "corporate". I think it just happened because they are in the same town (and I don't recall if Hoovie somehow "spawned" JR or just adopted him!).

I was thinking, since his whole channel is showing you how much money he dumps into fixing these cars it seems like all their problems have been sorted out. I wouldn’t mind having that Camaro SS. It wasn’t that bad to begin with and he dumped a few thousand fixing everything. Now it’s for sale.

Hey! It's Hoovie's "cheapest RR in the country!" Nearly guaranteed to be a bona fide nightmare. :D
You should see his video where he’s halking a bunch of his cars. He has them lined up like a car lot with signs on them that say things like “one really bad owner” and “turd”.

He also let’s on how he affords all these cars...he owns a chain of restaurants.
I know Hoover had worked as a regional manager for a chain called “Freddy’s”...a Steak and Shake kind of place. I think he actually still works in some capacity for the chain, either as an employee or as a franchisee (that his Father owns?).

I do know he didn’t move into his current home with the VERY NICE garage until his YouTube channel took off.

He has alluded to working for Doug DeMuro several times, too. Assuming he writes articles for AutoTrader like DeMuro does.

Interesting channel. It started out being kind of stupid (he buried an ‘80s Chrysler LeBaron in one episode). Now, it’s pretty interesting. That Rolls he has listed at “no reserve” seems to be a really good car that he’s spent a goodly amount of money on to get everything right.

As you can tell, I watch all of his videos (as I do DeMuro). I like watchjrgo.com, too. No fluff, no drama, just very good car repair and flipping advice.
Yeah....I thought that Camaro might be interesting, too. Question is, will some people bid it up as having some sort of celebrity provenance because it was featured on his YouTube videos.

He all but sabotaged his Mercedes Wagon. Someone...somewhere will think it's cool and buy it regardless of it being a money pit, just because Hoover owned it.

I’ll be making up for lost miles on the Volvo this week - heading out to Salt Lake City later this morning for a baseball tournament.

Couldn’t quite fit the luggage and baseball gear in the Supra. :)

Baseball has started again here as well and it's admittedly nice to be pulled in 2 different directions again with practices, games, etc.

At the current pace we might break 4,000 miles on the RDX by its first birthday. And the TLX will definitely be under miles when the lease is done. Who knows, maybe the new compact will be out by then, and I’ll fall in love. Or I buy a CPO.

It's a useful benefit that Acura allows the rollover of extra miles into a new lease. That new smaller Acura is going to be interesting, and it should be out by the time your TLX lease is up in Nov. (??) of 2021. But if your TLX is way under in miles buying it out might be a good deal too. I mean where else could you find a nearly new TLX with c. 20k miles for c. 20k? For less than the price of a base Civic that's a tough deal to beat.

I'm about 95% sure at this point I'm going to keep my TLX. When you push the FWD TLX around tight corners with a bit of speed it feels almost like you're riding on rails, which is fun. The 4-wheel steering is excellent imho, and since we know PAWS is dead for future Acura vehicles, and hasn't been offered in the past much since the Prelude in the 80s and 90s, I feel like that makes this car something special, and maybe something to hang on to.

But the power and the style of the new TLX do have some appeal for me, and for the heck of it I'll probably test drive the 2021 TLX in 8 or 9 months. But the size of the new TLX is a drawback. I just don't think I want a car that long or that wide. But I'd be interested to feel how it drives with the double wishbone suspension, that engine, the NSX brakes, the new variable radio steering system, etc.

One thing I feel mixed about in the new TLX is the rear window treatment. As I know from experience, these kind of back window are not as good for rear visibility behind the driver as the current TLX or most BMW sedans. But driving my wife's CR-V has forced me to get better at using the mirrors, and so it might not be the deal breaker it once was.

You folks missed the boat on this wagon. Failed to meet reserve I’m guessing.

I spotted that, but ignored it since I don’t give tours at the Six Flags Safari.
But just think how many bags of mulch you could haul!
I had 15 yards of mulch delivered Friday and 15 more yards today. Hired teenagers to put it down. Still have 20 more yards coming. My back thanks me for hiring teenagers
