speaking of that older middle age mid-life crisis demographic, I think I mentioned before someone in my neighborhood recently got a new Red Supra. I saw him, and he looks about 60ish +/-. But fits that profile. A ring of gray hair with bald center, pot belly, etc. Last week, a speedboat appeared in his driveway too. Also mostly red. He seems to be going all-out to hold onto (reclaim?) his youth with expensive toys!
I think those C5s were the best looking of the old Corvettes.
What do you figure? Mid $20s?
Is there a dress code/life style requirement to own one? I have the bald head, white socks and New Balance shoes but no gold chains or bimbo 2nd wife.
Well...get on with it. Go to Jarreds post haste for the chains, and you probably want to have a conversation with your wife about your future together.

The YouTube guy whose name must not be mentioned has switched a Mustang for for a Supra in his “rev up your engines” intro. He’s about 65 so maybe those are more the mid-life crisis car.

Farmer, my daughter has that car but a 2019 (same thing). the engine is a little 1.4T. Reasonably spunky, and can easily break 40MPG on the highway. I find it pretty comfortable, and have never noticed an issue with the B pillar. But sometimes, it is a weird little thing that takes a car off the list.
I have to assume your daughter is more petite than I am so it might not be an issue with her. When I got in I had to slide the side of my leg against the B pillar and that jog hit my hip quite forcefully. I was super impressed with the milage though right out of the box. 47 mpg in the first hundred highway miles.
since she is about 5'2" I assume she is. But, whenever I had to get into the drivers seat, I never noticed an issue but I also really didn't pay attention and rarely drive it, and usually the seat is so far up I barely fit!
I finally found an interior picture and if you expand it a little you can see what I mean. The B pillar jog is right at the end of the arm rest. You can really see it on the passenger’s side in this photo.
Never had a car with something like that before.

Nah, I'll stick to Jeep I think, at least it can go off the pavement if I want it to.....although mine never got a chance except for the times I dumped it in the ditch.

looks like a normal door to me. But I do love those GLI seats! When she comes back this weekend I will go out and try it to see if I can replicate. Maybe it's just you old guys aren't limber any more?

That's an armrest extension, useful for tall folks who slide the seat way back. My '79 Park Avenue had something similar although more deluxe as its version was padded. You can see a bit of it here:
Drove a 2019 MB GLA 250 earlier and really liked it. Silver over black guts which ain't the best combo down in South Florida. A white over ivory combo would work much nicer. Drove smoothly and much better than I remember when I rented a black over black one back in 2018 after my vehicular accident. Liked the size though the width could be an issue. Drove another Rav4 and still like 'em even though their innards are a bit plasticy!! Just does everything right. But noticed that it was recently bought from Hertz down in my old area of Southwest Broward/Northwest Dade. Recognized the area number on the old key fob so it must've been a recent purchase from Hertz due to their going into Chapter 11. Did read that Enterprise and Avis were going to purchase some excess inventory from Hertz to give them cash for their creditors. Just means that we'll be buying less new vehicles for our fleet this year. Good for us and Hertz but not good for the automakers who will loose the fleet sales they were expecting again this year. Who'd ever thought that this Covid-19 would be hurting so many businesses as it got going. It has changed life as we know it here and overseas and no telling when things will return to that old normal we once had. This pandemic could be with us for a few years to come so you folks who say it's a hoax and refuse to wear even a simple mask might want to re-evaluate your thinking going forward!

they have a really good reputation and seem to only have nice quality stuff without "stories". and they do turn stuff over pretty quick. So maybe not cheap cheap, but at least you are getting something for your money.
I learned long ago that you have to see a car in the flesh to decide on a color. And outside. Doing it from pictures online, risky business.
I saw the redline 2 in person today and I'm glad I did......PASS! However the red velvet was instant LOVE! I've found the JGC I want, just waiting on insurance to let me know what they are doing with my Cherokee.

Twice was off the side of the ridiculously narrow driveway that belongs to our new house. Spent a few grand redoing that this summer. The other time I was goofing off and spun it off the side of the road. Sure do miss that Jeep.
Helped the kid get a good deal on a CPO 2020 Ram 1500 today, he's happy, even happier that we are buying his 2016 Focus. Not sure how many punches I'm at this year but I think my card is running out of room!
Looks like JRgo found himself another Camaro RS to fool around with. This time a 67’ that needs full restoration. I think it has a 327 matching numbers engine but he wants to do an LS swap. His comments section is screaming bloody murder about that.

I saw one on my walk yesterday that looks to be the Velvet color. It was very nice. That is the one I would pick too I think.
I think those C5s were the best looking of the old Corvettes.
I always found that version to look too wide, big and heavy-looking for my liking. No idea of the driving experience though. I like the look of the interior of those better than the C6, although that is based strictly on the dash design and I gather the interior quality is pretty average if not outright poor.
watched most of the JRgo episode. Sounds like a done deal that are hacking that car up to make an idiotic burn out car. Not sure exactly how much it would take to restore it, but it looks pretty solid. Really a waste since there are not many originals like that left. Should keep it to do a quicky semi-restore and flip for a profit. There are plenty of already messed around with cars like that out there. And cheap if they are without a motor. That would have been a much smarter starting point.
he might learn a hard lesson in life on Youtube. Don't piss off your fans, since those are also the subscribers that make you your money!
If you go to a car show these days the number of restored to original (or nearly so) cars is minuscule. Most are Summit catalog cars, hacked and chromed and otherwise modded almost beyond recognition. First and foremost I blame the TV car shows, most of which are sponsored by aftermarket companies and so promote that behavior, and those online sites that do the same or worse.

Going on my (and Sam’s) first camping trip this weekend - one night only. Outback is performing admirably so far. Currently on the ferry to the Olympic peninsula. Wish me luck!

Certainly a restored original car is more collectible but the cost of doing so can be pretty steep. A lot of guys who do it that way never make their money back.
I like some aspect of the resto mod concept like putting in modern brakes and steering as long as the car looks original from the outside.

I’m trying to learn what I can about bikes now, but obviously not as much info out there as for cars.
It seems I gravitate toward more street-oriented machines. I would think some of these could handle light trail riding, but my brother disagrees. He used to race dirt bikes, so, while he is knowledgable, I don’t know how reliable his opinion is because I don’t think he can comprehend what light trail riding means.
Anyway, two that really caught my eye so far are a 1974 CZ 175 and a 1968 Honda Dream 300cc. The Honda is definitely a porker but with way more power. The CZ is a rugged commie bike from Czech that could probably survive a drop from a building.
Money-wise, the Honda is the better deal (if as good as it looks) and closer to me. I just reached out about that one. The CZ, I have already had an exchange with the owner, who used to own one of their dealerships in the 70s.

Most of the BMW G/S bikes can do it all. Or maybe a Triumph Street Scrambler 900? I love them:

We looked at a lot of Minis over the last month or so, new and used. Used ones seem really overpriced right now for what you’re getting.
Also considered a service loaner base model (but well equipped). Nice discount, but the salesperson wisely had us drive that first followed by an S Model. He said some people don’t notice much difference. My wife did.

This new version of British Racing Green came out either for 2020 or maybe 2019 and is noticeably brighter than the previous one. It caught my wife’s eye a few months ago and she fell in love with it.
So much so that she was okay not getting a third Ice Blue version. Not that it stopped her from looking at one last night...
