Some dimwits could not believe that I took my M6 to the track and also autocrossed it. At the end of the day it’s a car and I used it the way its builders intended.
There is always somebody. I think the only car nobody ever questioned me tracking was the GTI.
I tracked every BMW on my side of the garage at least once. Ditto for the Mazdaspeed 3. My beloved Bavaria 3.0 even spent a mostly rainy day lapping Watkins Glen.

I saw him flip up the seat covering after he’d replaced the sensor and saying it’s really easy, but I must’ve missed him showing the actual replacement. It might be helpful for him to get a set of glasses with cameras in them so he could film hands free and also show things from his perspective.
I guess he just described it, but all it involved was sliding it in. No fasteners so nothing really to see.
Not surprised. Whenever these guys are filming while driving, they don’t seem to pay all that much attention to the road! Hopefully he releases an episode on it soon.
JR's last few videos have been kind of off: * TPMS is good, but also bad! * Let's hack up and restomod an all original classic Camaro! * Fixed the airbag light in my 2010 Camaro, something something leather seats, it's fixed now, but no video of replacing the passenger presence sensor.
Normally he specifically mentions it if there was a camera failure. Looking forward to the new video of the C30.
On the PPS didn’t he say that you replaced it by just sliding it in under the fabric?
I want to know why he still has a front end rattle after replacing the entire front suspension on the Volvo.

Yes, it just slides in and you plug in the ribbon connectors at the front.
I learn more from the YouTube comments. A lot of experience imparted there. Seems that a common issue is the subframe bushings. So he did a lot of needed work, but probably not enough to eliminate all the clunking.
Read the comments. Plenty of people spotted it. Some suggestion that he was driving the Subaru Impreza the wizard did an episode on parting out. Plus it looks like might have used a ramp.
No kidding. Lately I’ve been wondering if there’s something wrong with me because more and more of the programs lots of people like are ones I’m allergic to. That includes just about everything on Motor Trend. Even Iron Resurrection, which became my favourite and pretty much the only custom car show I could watch, is starting to annoy me. Why can’t the producers of these programs try shooting more scenes straight-up?
Meanwhile the Mike Brewer franchise has been spread too thin, Wayne Carini is running on fumes, Roadkill is just execrable, and Graveyard Cars is as unwatchable as ever. I think there is a market for a new car-related channel that plays things straight and informative without trying to be comedy.
Going to test a 2020 Buick Encore GX in the morning. Something a bit higher up is probably something to try as my spinal issues aren't getting any better. Will try the Encore also just for comparison. Also want to try the Mazda CX-30 as it fits our size requirement and the wife loves Mazda. And then a Countryman after that just to see how it drives. A Honda HR-V? Maybe. The other option is to keep and fix the Golf and in 2023, get a GTI if I can still get in and out of it. I love the pics and the new interior. Probably the best, and cheapest solution right now. If we keep & fix the axle boot, will also have the front brakes looked at to see if they need replacing while he's in there. Might cut down on some of the labor costs. Drove a regular 2020 Corolla LE today and the infotainment system sucked! My flash drive wasn't recognized and neither was my iPhone so I could use my iTunes. Drove nice enough but a bit on the boring side. Think I'd be super unhappy after a few months of ownership to be honest. Not going down that rabbit hole again. Showed the wife the Seltos at the mall and she thought it would be too wide for my side of the garage but think a test drive should also be taken. Leasing is also off the table now. I don't think I'd be happy knowing I have to keep an eye on my mileage. And if 0% financing is no longer available, then all bets are off and the Golf will be fixed and kept for awhile. Coming down to the seating position right now. Would love to have the ingress/egress I had with the Tucson as my back isn't going to get better...only worse. So, let's just take things one day at a time here. Going to drive the Buick's and see if I even like them. Then, we'll go from there.

I've driven numerous 2020 Altima's and found their CVT much improved over the last generation, at least 100 times better! If I didn't know, I'd never have guessed. The new 2020 Sentra's have not come into our fleet yet so can not comment on them. But did drive the last generation Sentra today and it's indeed a dismal vehicle to drive, a true penalty box if there ever was one. Toyota & Honda have done great things with their CVT's. Just not sure I want to own one! Last week was the first time I drove a vehicle recently purchased from Hertz so they actually are doing that. Am sure that's bad news for American fleet sales but most likely a great deal for Enterprise. And the only reason I know is I found part of the old key fob in the vehicle and recognized the Hertz area number from when I worked there.

Still have the FB app on my phone but hardly go in anymore. Think it's lost a bit of it's relevancy for me to be honest. Liked it at the start, then it got a bit crazy & plain annoying. Now, I'm just over it and don't have the patience to read through so much of the junk now. I've just lost interest I think, the folks who know me & still want to stay in touch know how to find me. The others who I knew for a brief period in time, they have moved on so am following their lead!

I see a lot of chatter about Hoovie's crash being staged. I hope not - it's not like he really needs more views, although I suppose stagnation is always a concern in that industry.
His purple fried eggs Porsche turned out very well, color suits the car - being from the late 90s, when colors like that were a thing, it works.
Work on our yard has finally started. 6 weeks later than originally planned and already behind schedule by 3 days. Demo of the existing concrete patio (roughly 4x8) took two full days because it was reinforced with an obscene amount of rebar.

I'll guess that video was more of a teaser. Seems like something he would do. Dropping it on FB with no context is a bit odd.

look at the bright side. You did not have to bust out the concrete! A job I will never attempt.
neighbor had landscapers out all day today. Ripped out the sidewalk (driveway to front door) and the bottom step of the stoop. Took down 2 trees next to the house that had gotten way too big, and some other bushes. Not sure what they are doing with the walk, but the driveway really needs replacing too. So I assume the crew will be back tomorrow to do more.

I'm currently pestering the local utility company, trying to get them to take down a rotting 60-70' tree that's within their right of way.
I watched Hoovie's Maaco video, and I think they took extra steps because they knew it would be on YouTube. He didn't specifically comment on it, but I can't imagine getting clean lines around the door handles on that car, and other things like the rear grille, without removing them.

Only 6 weeks late? I'm surprised. One day to most contractors is a week. A week can be a month.
We were supposed to get our roof replaced in May. We got the estimate and timeline last Fall. When I called to ask about it last week they said they were shut down for 6 weeks and I am scheduled for September. June, July, and August = 6 weeks.
They are swamped and I think short handed. I had a guy out Monday to look at a small project, for November. Still waiting on the estimate he said I would have Tuesday.
Ordered a new shed last weekend. That won’t arrive to put up until 11/18
Had a guy stop over to look at my chimney which needs some repair. He said at least a month before they could get to it. I did put down a deposit because I just want it fixed.

We’re getting a bunch of warranty items addressed on our home under the one year warranty, and it’s been a slow process as well, but the builder has been easy to work with thus far, so I’m not complaining.
Similar with our landscaping - a little repair work on our firepit, some trees/plants to be replaced and some other odds and ends. He started back in May and, fingers crossed, he should be done today.
I’m just glad we got the project mostly done last year - our neighbors who either moved in later than us or just waited until this season to get landscaping done are dealing with an extremely slow process.
I think that with everyone being quarantined at home, a lot of folks figured it was time to address those long neglected home improvement projects, and those tradesman are super busy.
We wanted to have a tree replaced in our back yard and our local tree shop quoted us 6 weeks for planting. That was unacceptable to my wife, so we are waiting to do it in the fall. I suppose I should call now and see what the backlog is.

I think that's a big part of it. We replaced our front door and sidelights 3 weeks ago, had to wait 4.5 weeks from purchase to install and normally it's no more than a week we were told.

My landscaper has had to call ahead to nurseries and then show up as a truck is unloading to claim trees before they're all taken.
My brother runs a one-man landscaping outfit. This summer he's had so much work, he picks and chooses jobs as he can't get close to accepting them all, and he's in a relatively small not terribly affluent town. However, it has a lot of retirees and an increase in transplants who can likely buy a decent house for a fraction of what they got for their old place, so that might explain it.
It's to the point where for this lawn season anyway. he spends a lot less time at his other venture, being a fractional owner of a pot facility, as he seems to make much more money doing landscaping.
We've been painting, and by we, I mean me. I've decided the 20+ foot tall sections are not doable by me so I've called half a dozen painters so far. The few that have returned my calls and set up times for estimates have all been no-shows.

It seemed well made. Plus, they offered tearing down the old one as part of the deal, so I don’t have to worry about finding someone to do that (and probably having them no show). Definitely not something I want to do myself!
First impressions of the Explorer ST......they let me transfer it from the dealer 55 miles away since I asked. Sales guy drove me down in one of the other dealer's cars and he had to bring back a different one anyway so it worked out. Check engine light is on but that will be taken care of later. They "detailed" it last night and couldn't get that right so on Tuesday it gets a full professional detail courtesy of the dealership. Now on to the details....
In sport mode its just stupid fast and handles amazing! The brakes are crazy touchy, it has the street pack with the 21" tires (OUCH on winter tires in a couple months) and the larger performance brakes. The seats are dreamy, best I've ever sat in, massaging seats are a little weird but a cool feature, sync works very well, lots to learn about the car for sure. I drove back during rush hour so didn't get to play with it too much, right now its getting its tint done so still no play time. Hopefully I'll get it out in the next couple days to see what it can do......maybe when the troopers aren't prowling.....
I'll post pics in a bit after it gets done with its tint, should look pretty amazing at that point.
The a/c compressor on the Passport we test drove apparently went bad right after we drove it because they let us know if we wanted to move forward they would provide a loaner until they were able to fix it...after 3 weeks due to a backlog on parts. When I was browsing some of the Passport boards others reported compressor failures too so not an uncommon failure it seems.
