I did as well; I drove it 2 miles and my back was bothering me. I've heard they've taken steps to make them more padded and more supportive.

I’ll probably go sit in one and not like it.

I’ll stay fixated on a GTI, or something similar, for now.

Oh, and @stickguy - I saw that reveal of the refreshed G70 as well. I think it's the best execution of this new Genesis design language yet. And a 290 hp base engine along with the twin turbo 3.3T option is promising for the brand. Now they just need to get independent dealerships going.

Want a GTI even more now. I forgot the 2018 needed the performance pack to get upgraded brakes and the LSD, but I suspect I would not really notice not having them.

Are you sure? I think my SE came with that standard. But, I bought it used, so what do I know?

Correct - I believe the performance pack basically became standard on SE and above in 2018, when the GTI was refreshed.

I know this is mostly fluff, but I still like watching her. Current GTI vs new redesign https://youtu.be/-DluWP2isMk

Ha! She's fun. Could be Elana Scheer's younger cousin I suppose as she has a similar sort of style. Looking at some of her other stuff on YT, she is really into taking on tough projects. Just as with Elana, I like her.

That video does make a good argument for getting the Mk 7 GTI right now.

    Oh, it goes plenty fast.

I actually want to look at the Si again. Been a while, but good option too.

I was looking (and that video above was on) the S model. It was optional on that back then.

Lousy timing on getting a GTI though. 20s are almost nonexistent new, and 21s won’t be out for a while (and no deals to start). So that leaves a tight market on used ones. That would definitely have to wait until at least probably February.

Si probably the same issue. New model coming out (but that may be as a 22?) early next year. EDIT: late spring for the redesign.

Elantra N line will be out too by then.

Yeah, inventory levels are low overall, but for models like the GTI and Si, I think they're pretty much nonexistent.

Which reminds me of a thought I had the other day - I saw a new Sentra on the road and thought it was actually quite nice looking. Why doesn't Nissan try to revive the spirit of the old '90's SE-R again?

On a Nissan note, this new 400Z reveal should be interesting. The teasers look promising thus far. Toyota has left the door wide open for them to offer a manual.

Was not even aware that was coming.

    Per C&D:
Like its beastly brother, the Nissan GT-R, the 400Z is expected to be powered by a twin-turbocharged V-6. But, instead of the fire-breathing 565-hp 3.8-liter that’s under the hood of the GT-R, the 400Z will likely get the 300-hp 3.0-liter mill from the Infiniti Q60. It's also possible that high-performance NISMO variant could get the 400-hp version of that engine that's currently exclusive to the Q60 Red Sport 400.

I hope that is not true, for Nissan's sake. 300hp is not going to cut it, unless it is magically losing 1k lbs in the process.

Get it under $200/month and we got something going!

    Though I don't have a Costco membership.

Oh, it is WAY under that. For an LT, I calculated it to be $65/mo with a relatively modest dealer discount. A Premier is a fair bit more.
$65/month? Without a ton down? That is certainly cheap. What’s the terms?

Somehow though, if I walked into my local Chevy dealer and said I want one for that payment, they won’t usher me right into the finance office. Maybe you should set up the deal for me and let me know when to pick it up!
It can be less. But with $40k MSRP, a piddly $3k dealer discount (7.5%), then $3k costco, $5750 lease cash, and $1500 conquest, it comes to a $6992 one-pay deal (assuming $399 doc fee and $330 DMV). Then you get the $5k NJ rebate after. That's on a 36/10k. Effective is $55/mo. Some folks report getting it quite a bit less. I'm giving modest numbers for an easy deal. :)
    That's a ridiculous deal.

I have a friend that loves his. I've actually been thinking of one for my parents. Probably won't move them to NJ though. Probably.

Well, while I have real doubts about VW's commitment to engineering for long-term reliability, their overall engineering chops cannot be questioned. Nissan, OTOH, has a history of throughout this century of producing cheap, appliance-like, built-to-a-price vehicles for the bulk of their production while letting models like the Z and even the GT_R age out. And corporately they are beset by scandal, have lost billions of dollars in recent years, have let their mainstream models fall to the bottom of most categories, have laid off many thousands of people, and have had their products become rental-car fodder. The Leaf was a good first effort but that debuted, what, 8 or 9 years ago? That company has a lot longer road to regaining my confidence than VW.

But since my Supra seems to be retaining its value according to KBB, which indicates trade is a bit higher than what I paid...it's fun to think about what I could do for a reset.

I like the look of the Mustang, and this one looks nice for a Mustang!

Speaking of those, though, I saw a Mustang last night (guy had it debadged, but I suspect it was just a run-of-the-mill). It had a dealer placard in the place of the license plate, I think there was a temp tag in the rear window, but one couldn't read it due to heavy aftermarket tint, a "minority" driver with a baseball cap on sideways and leaning far back in the seat so he could barely see over the steering wheel... He passes by and I pull in behind him. Immediately, I see two large cartoonish placards on the back bumper, one on either side of the license plate bracket, that are a hand flipping the bird (akin to this).

He seems fairly sedate in his driving until we get onto the expressway, and then he just flies down the road! I thought, "well, with the attitude on display there, he is probably unwise to do anything to justify being pulled over, because a trooper isn't going to give him an inch."

I have to wonder what goes through people's minds when they do stuff like that? I mean, is it a point of pride to advertise to the world that you are obnoxious?

And yes, let's say a Supra owner just really wanted a stick again - an M2 would be an obvious and easy choice, wouldn't it?

That deep green really works on that car! The wheels are 'meh,' but I guess it's a package deal. :)

Nope; $35k is the point where I might consider a Mustang GT that stickers at $52k.
That said, I would probably still pass- and pick up a Supra or M2 Competition for north of $50k.

Thanks. So only about $80/month for no Costco.

Cheapest one I found is in Old Bridge. $39,440. Dark grey, so a nice color.
they have a nice bright blue one much closer to me! Looking at the credit, it says it is a POS so if it can be applied at signing, makes it even easier. and at those terms, a 1 pay is certainly the way to go.
