It is what it is. At least I got good deals
On both Q7 s.
Now to figure out what extended warranty. Audi pure protection with brakes and rotors vs Allstate.
Definitely getting audicare. They have Allstate tire and wheel with cosmetic coverage 5 year for $757 a it covers tires, wheels, dent and ding, windshield chips and cracks and key fobs and interior rips and tears. . Getting that for sure
With the body shop. Wife just called she clipped a bollard in the XC. She claims no dents but yellow paint and deep scratches all down the driver’s side.
Great
good thing it is a lease. That would be a $10K deduct from Carvana! Maybe a detailer could take care of it? Probably not to like new. For keeping forever, maybe good enough.
I walked out of a breakfast stop in Portland to find a big white scrape down the side of our XC70. Fortunately no dents so I was able to get it out with the orbital. Never did find the jackhole that did it.

congrats. where is it coming from? I'm glad you got the prestige. far far better resale. Is it the hybrid? They didn't make a 3.0T this year, did they? Looks like either hybrid or 4-cyl. But no prestige in 4-cyl, so must be hybrid. Definitely good deal. That's very very close to its current auction value. They may have gotten $1k less at the block, if that.

Did you get the payout value of the '18 increased?
Sadly only $500 so far. I sent them the Manheim report and pointed out that they are not even offering auction value.
I only paid 49k tho…
I wonder do insurance adjusters get some sort of sleaze bonus for trying to jerk you around? They must know that it will cost more to replace that car now than it did last year. Why do they try the low ball nonsense?

Roughly 56% of homes do not have AC, which is actually a vast improvement from ~5-10 years ago. I had central air installed when we moved in 4 years ago and my neighbors all thought I was nuts. I did it because I have bad seasonal allergies and can't keep the windows open all the time. Joke is on them! Kept up pretty well - when the ambient on my outside said 110 yesterday, I was holding steady at 73 inside.
@henryn everything about this experience was unusual. They called it a "heat dome" for the 72 hour period when we had the heat. Today it is very comfortable out (70s now, expected into mid-80s today) and expected to land in upper 70s/low 80s for next 10 days which is much more normal.

You can get 7% off invoice if you finance 25k. $50958 or 11% off MSRP on same $57230 MSRP build
Doc fees are $599 though
I wonder what letting them markup the MF the max would net me? .00042 increase only adds $70 over payments. But, it might earn them an extra $1000
Cash is king certainly but if you're flippin' then a lease makes more sense just due to not paying all the sales tax up front - depending on your state sales tax of course

Manheim definitely has a glitch on those. But I went online and found a 2021 55 Prestige and used the VIN. Manheim called it a hybrid. So I'm definitely looking up the right model. Still a good deal.

I think about the conversation that took place before they wrote up that sticker:
General Sales Manager: "How much should we mark this up?"
Random voice from the room: "$8K?"
GSM: "Nah, not even 5% of MSRP"
Second random voice: "$25K?"
GSM: "Closer."
Then, some rookie manager shouts out from the corner of the room:
Rookie Manager: "How about $80K?"
GSM: "Who was that? Rivers, is that you? Splendid thinking, my boy - we'll get ridiculed on the internet, and somebody will be foolish enough to pay it. Smithers, write up that ADM pronto. Meeting adjourned."
And, did they do it with a straight face?
When I quickly googled to see what exactly those G-wagens looked like, my top results were a few Autotrader listings of low mileage 2021s asking in the $230s.
So I did get a call earlier this afternoon from the Volvo salesman and the other couple looking at the R Design is thinking about it, as they may want the ventilated seats in the Inscription model.
I wanted my wife to check it out so we went down to the dealer, took a nice long test drive, talked about it quite a bit and decided to pull the trigger on the XC90.
We agreed we like the fresher styling of the new GLE, but the drive of the XC90 is superior by far, both in acceleration and comfort. Of course this is in comparison to the GLE 350, but price-wise, it’s a fair comparison. We would have spent thousands more to get similar equipment on the Mercedes.
And a lot of it came down to this XC90 specifically - the denim blue R Design with the blond leather was just so darn attractive that it made up a lot for the somewhat older design of the vehicle.

Yes, trading in the Leaf for a little bit of equity over the lease buyout. But the manager pointed out there’s no tax savings on the trade of a lease, as I have only paid sales tax on payments to date.
I actually thought that was the case, but I know I have had at least one transaction of trading in a leased vehicle and receiving the tax savings. Perhaps in error?
not a car (that takes way more planning!) but actually got ambitious and looked into a new build house I saw listed that the wife and I both really liked. So emailed realtor to get the ball rolling. Unfortunately, it was already taken even though still listed as available. Oh well, will find another.
I did come up with a few resales she liked. that ranged from slightly over budget to $150,000. With a real nice one that was "only" $400K over (but dang, that was seriously nice).
Help. I know most of you are not extended warranty people but I don't want a European car out of warranty sooooooooo...
Audi branded extended warranty with brakes and rotors 6yr /72 k miles with $0 deductible for $3425 (only pays for one set of rotors and pads)
OR
Audi branded no consumables 7yr / 70 k miles $100 deductible for $2320
Audi branded 7yr / 100k miles $100 deductible for $3325
OR
Allstate 7 yr/ 85'k mile premier warranty ( no brakes or rotors) with $100 deductible for $2339
Allstate 7yr / 100 k miles $100 deductible for $2608
Audi branded is backed by safeguard and the upside is it is Audi branded. The downside is that if you cancel, they deduct the amount of claims. Fidelity and Allstate do not do that.
Audi branded warranty starts at in service date and 0 miles and extends to total miles listed.
Allstate starts at current date and mileage (7200) and extends to listed miles

I think I would go with the Audi-branded option that best fits your driving habits/planned ownership (for me, 7/100 would be the ticket). Are those prices retail? See about negotiating at least $500 off the list, and check Audi forums to see what dealers out there might sell these at wholesale prices, as you can buy them from any dealer, not just your purchasing dealer (unless you want to roll it into your financing).
I would say that any of them will cover the car long enough to get you through one set of brakes, so that should pay for a good chunk of the warranty, but even one out-of-warranty item will cover it entirely. Is the extended warranty better than the 50K drivetrain? If not (other than brakes), the only coverage you're really getting is miles above 50,000, so take that into consideration when weighing your cost/benefit.

With all the games dealers play, I can't blame the buyer for assuming that was a fib and trying to get a better price.
I remember the story one of the salespeople told about the guy who negotiated with a green pea on a hot selling Mazdaspeed. The green pea inked a deal that was over $1000 less than the going market price for that model. The sales manager was going to honor the deal but prior to delivery the buyer calls up and tells the SM that he's talked with some "expert" friends and he's decided that the dealer is screwing him over; he wants an even better price or the deal is off. Needless to say, the SM gladly agreed to ashcan the sales contract. After shopping the price a bit the shrewd buyer returned expecting the SM to honor the original deal- and became very irate when the SM refused.

Do they offer the Audi branded warranty with a $100 or $250 deductible? That should lower the offering price and negotiate from there. How long and how many miles do you expect to keep it?

I am always of the mind to get the manufacturer plan. I just don't trust aftermarket plans. Though Allstate should be OK. I actually got their coverage for tires and wheels on the TLX (since I have my car insurance with them anyway, and it was cheap).
The shorter plans barely add to the factory warranty though it seems. so depending on how good the coverage is, is there much that is expensive to even cover?

Definitely a tough one. With an Audi, especially one with that level of electronics (digital dash) I’d say it is a very smart idea. I like the idea of the Audi Branded 6/72K with pads & rotors. Call your local dealer and inquire about how much a set of pads and rotors will cost you. It’s expensive at $3,425 plus tax, but the car already has 7,000 miles on it? You are going to need pads & rotors by 30K miles? Sounds like you are going to buy an extended warranty anyway, so I’d pay the extra $1,100 for the brakes.

Audi claims are handled by the dealership. At least, you have two parties working together (though, that doesn't mean you can't get screwed) Allstate? That will be between you and them.
Is the Q7 eligible to be CPO'd? That may be a less costly option that provides bumper to bumper coverage.
Audi's certified pre-owned (CPO) program extends coverage by 1 year and unlimited miles past the expiration of the vehicle’s original 4-year/50,000 mile new car warranty. It also comes with a thorough inspection and often includes special financing rates.

All have small list of exclusions.
So air suspension and electronics covered on all
Only bummer is the one with brake/ rotor coverage is only 6/72k and starts at in service date. But $0 deductible
Allstate would start today and is 7/ 85k but no brake pads and rotor coverage…and $100 deductible
I’m with you @mjfloyd1, as excited as I am about the Jeep, I miss the hunt.

I would never buy an extended warranty from a 3rd party. It's an insurance policy. How have your recent interactions been with insurance companies?

Little did I know, the 45 engine in the A5 is actually a hybrid. A normal hybrid, along the lines of a Prius or Accord hybrid. Not sure if that holds true, up and down the model line-up.

The Audi branded ones are backed by safeguard. I have no idea how they pay out on the Audi branded plans.
The non Audi branded safeguard plans seem to be a dumpster fire when you look online

Audi claims are handled by the dealership. At least, you have two parties working together (though, that doesn't mean you can't get screwed) Allstate? That will be between you and them.

Ok. I’ll go the safer route
I have had really good experiences with easy care and Zurich tho
Is the Q7 eligible to be CPO'd? That may be a less costly option that provides bumper to bumper coverage.
Audi's certified pre-owned (CPO) program extends coverage by 1 year and unlimited miles past the expiration of the vehicle’s original 4-year/50,000 mile new car warranty. It also comes with a thorough inspection and often includes special financing rates.

No word on residual, yet.
Of course, that won't matter much to flippers.

Residual is currently .... 65% for 36/10 on the Sahara? Is that right? If that sticks, then it would bring me down to $385/$385. At 64%, it is a nice round $400/$400. At 63%, it would bump my payment up $4 to $416.
