My son was a struggle to teach the bike to for us. When we were at the campground another slightly older kid showed him in 5 minutes. Taught my younger daughter too in record time. My son was six and my daughter not even five yet. Now we all try and bike ride as much as possible when we are at the shore. They love riding on the boardwalk even in the winter.

My son was what I called a digital learner; one minute he couldn’t keep the bike upright and the next minute he was riding it like a BMX pro. Ditto for swimming. Looking back I think I learned the same way.

We tried the grass option. Was too hard to pedal. Went to sidewalk with some pads.

Having physical therapy for the BPPV vertigo issue I'm having. My pain doc figured out what I had last week, he had also suffered from it, so he gave me some meds and a script for pt. Going to a pt place close to home, called my ENT doc for a recommendation, so hopefully within a few weeks, I should be good to go. NY, you should ask your wife if she's ever heard of this kind of vertigo. I know my GP last week had no clue but will tell him once he calls me back later to discuss my blood test findings. Again, nice to know that something is wrong, and treatable. BPPV affects once balance which is one of my issues with my spine I suffer with thus me using my cane to walk, or my walker when the vertigo gets really bad.
Got my kids car washed earlier and we vacuumed it out ourselves. As we were leaving, the guy behind me kept honking. Seems I left my cane on the roof while putting the floor mat back in. Hey, another senior moment I guess. My kid told me I've been having more & more of them lately but told her, hey, it's part of life & I'll just deal with it. She mentioned me giving up work & driving all together which I thought was a bit extreme...think if I did that, I'd really get old, quickly. Explained to her that getting out of the house a few days a week and being with others keeps me at my best. To stay home & not get out would be the worst thing for me at this age. My spinal issues would get worse I fear & I wouldn't be happy. No, going to work now is the best thing for me & I'll know when it's time to stop & surrender my car keys. I try to be a super safe driver so would never put others or myself in harms way.
Decided not to even bring up me getting a new vehicle with her quite yet. Right now, no one in the family knows about my possible plans as no sense stirring things up as it ain't happening yet. One in my configuration has to come into the dealer first, then I'll have to test drive it & see if it fits in the garage. So, since we're no way near that point yet, no sense even bringing it up. Best I just do it when all my ducks are in perfect order, then drive it home and say, "surprise"!

I had not encountered the term "BPPV vertigo", but a google search lead to lots of information. Sounds like your PT will just teach you how to move your head into certain positions and hold those positions for a few seconds to relieve the symptoms.

The forgetfulness, or "senior moment", is just a part of life. And it is something that happens to everyone, at all ages. They say it happens more often when you're older, but I really couldn't say, as I don't remember how often it happened when I was younger!

Yes, from what I've read, the pt will help me & teach me the positions needed to make it go away for a time. Whatever, I can't be going on the way I'm going without some outside help...it's just not safe. And last time I fell in the house & got a bit bruised up, I'd hate to be out walking or even driving & have something even worse happen. But, I don't want to give up everything & be a shut-in forever so the meds & pt are the best course of action to take right now. At 67, feel I'm too young to be feeling so badly most of the time!

One of my kids had a hard time learning to ride without the training wheels so we took her up to her school and put her on the grass. Took right off after that. I guess they were afraid of falling on the pavement.

My brother (3 days shy of a year older) and I both self-taught when he was five and I was four. Our grandparents had bought us each a bicycle for some holiday... I can't remember, though I think it was actually Easter, of all the odd holidays to get a present. Anyhow, once we had them, we were loath to let them sit. Nobody wanted to take the time to teach us, so we just went at it on the gravel road in front of the house. After a month or so, my brother decided to take is training wheels off. I kept mine on, but found them too limiting in terms of keeping up with him, so they were off the next day.

Honestly, with how many times we fell and ripped about every chunk of flesh from our knees and shins, I'm surprised we even kept at it. Stubborn little cusses, we were.

I never knew that about MA. Wonder why they wouldn’t they adopt a temp tag like every other state?

Probably because the know how horridly aggressive the drivers in their state are... imagine what sort of shenanigans they would get up to if they were on useless temp tags?! :D In most vehicles, you can't even see temp tags, so no amount of dashcam or memory is going to help you out in terms of identifying vehicles that get up to no good out there on the roads.

For me, I nearly always go to the DMV to get my plates myself. I just have the selling dealer "overnight" the paperwork to me after we close the deal. I take that to the DMV, they give me plates, and I take those with me to the dealership.

So true. While it has never happened to me, I recently bought a small animal live trap to try to capture the culprit who steals my drink many mornings after I go out to the car. I'm sure I'll catch that sneaky bugger. ;)

oh yeah, the Mass issue. Good luck. My son's friend (NY resident) a couple years ago bought Jag (used I think) from a dealer in Mass. Fuzzy on the details but they had trouble getting it registered for him. Something about him needing to go there for some reason on no notice? Took something absurd like a month before they got it done and he could go pick up the car. Every other state it seems would just throw a temp tag on, and off you go.

When I bought the Sebring from a private party in MA I went back to NY got it registered and returned with plates. As far as I knew there were no temp plates in MA.

Senior moment today. We took the kids Hyundai to be washed/vacuumed and I put my cane on the roof. Vacuumed the drivers side interior then we get in & take off. Folks start honking/yelling at me, seems my cane was still on the roof. After I get it, stop and reach up to retrieve my cane and we're off. Just called it what it was...a senior moment but the smart [non-permissible content removed] kid says, "Dad, you've been having more & more of those lately"! We just laughed and went to BJ's.

It’s a good thing my V8 Genny doesn’t have a gas needle. It’s bad enough watching the segment lights go out. But there is a good side to this, I’ll never have to worry about those segment lights burning out. Hell, they’re never lit long enough for that to happen. :'(

Modern automobiles have some very sensitive electronics. A weak battery can cause some very strange symptoms, things you would never think to attribute to that area. And even when you don't notice the symptoms, trouble codes are often stored by the computer(s).

Awesome! You'll love it. The power is intoxicating! I loved my Black/Black Q40. The gas mileage wasn't horrible. I used to average 26 in the Legacy, then 19-20ish in the Infiniti. Funny how I never missed the extra 6-7 mpg.

Not sure if I've updated the group on my 2022 4Xe yet. It has arrived safely at the dealership. I filled out the credit app and submitted my "tread lightly" paperwork. I'm waiting to hear back from the dealership on when they will be able to deliver the Jeep to the CT DMV. Final numbers will be as follows: $515ish per month (Including 7.75% sales tax). 36/10. 8.5% off MSRP ($63,155) including "affilliate." 17bps bump in money factor. I'm excited for the Wrangler. It is arriving just in time for the "nice" weather, although it doesn't get nice here until mid-June.

Algo is supposed to come and pick up my Tacoma today. My lease is up on Thursday. Nothing like cutting it close.

My son's hockey tournament didn't end as well as it began. After a 4-0 shutout win in the 1st game and an 11-0 win in game 2 (where our kids stopped shooting after the middle of the 2nd period). They proceeded to get shelled 6-0 by a team of all 13 & 14 year old kids (my son's team has mostly 11-12 year old players). If my son didn't play as well as he did, it would have been 10 or 12-0. They played well enough to make it to the bronze medal game where they faced the team they beat 4-0. We scored first and they answered with a nice goal about a minute & a half later. No goals scored in the 2nd or 3rd period by either team. About two & a half minutes into a 10 minute 3 on 3 sudden death overtime, the other team scored on a breakaway. It was difficult to watch my son fall face first onto the ice as the other team was celebrating. Hopefully he'll look back on it as a learning experience. He's got a lot to look forward to. His 13th birthday is this coming Sunday. His Bar Mitzvah is April 2.
I hated to see my son lose as well. One soccer game was a heartbreaker, it all came down to an unquestionably bad call.

Absolutely. I originally took the 15,000 mile per year lease for 2 years full knowing that I was going to go over by a lot. Toyota charges $.15 per mile whether you pre pay or go over. Part of the reason I gave TFS the MSD was that in addition to lowering my payment by $50 per month that they would also be used to pay for my excess mileage.

Good question. My contracted mileage for the lease (after the 6 month extension) was 37,500. I sold the truck to AlGo with 54,100 miles. 16,600 miles over at $.15 per mile comes out to $2,490 + $158 (6.35% sales tax) gives me a grand total of $2,648.12. Instead of paying $2,648.12, I got a check for $2,945.44.

The talk about learning to ride a bike got me thinking. My second bike was a Huffy Bandit that took cues from the popular movie around that time. First bike was a small little thing, can’t remember much about it but I loved the Trans Am and I still remember that bike.
