That looks a little like the “Alaska Green” VW offered in the early 2000s. I think it was only available on the Beetle, Jetta, and Golf.

I don't know if they are in trouble, but the CEO has admitted they'll need to raise cash within the next year, and their stock is in the tank, so they can't get it by issuing more stock.

    Thanks, good to know.
Dealer immediately said to get buy bids, they will be much better than what they'd offer on trade.
Nice dealer, highly rated. But, sneaky $995 "Protection Pkg." which sales dude initially described as "included" on all their new cars. No mention of included for a grand until we got a quote printout.

So, we'll see. Even with the mop & glo (Ceramic coating and fabric protection. With no warranty, he also quickly inserted into sales spiel), it still seems a good deal in these times.

just want to own empty land? Considering I think you are what, 20 years into living in the garage of the house you are building, I doubt you are going to do anything with it!

Hahah! Well, somewhat. Since it is on our doorstep, there's some desire to not have another yahoo come in and cut down every tree on the property to make yet another eyesore next to me. However, my wife has griped at me for at least a decade about getting my cars out of sight (the older ones that stay tucked in alongside the driveway, such as my plow truck), and has long wanted me to get a separate property for them. So, I will probably put in a driveway and a large gravel pad there, along with a pole barn or a shop, and have them somewhere away from the house.

Might be surprising, but it is way easier to build other stuff than it is to work on this house. I just don't care to work on it anymore because it frustrates me to no end to have to work around all my wife's junk (she insists it's not hers, but it's hers).

I was on the fence about ceramic coating, but at least one of JRGo's recent videos implied the life expectancy was only a year. If that's true, I'll throw a coat or two of old-school Zaino on, which will also last about a year, at a cost of $15-ish for a bottle that will coat 10+ cars vs. $50 for a single vial of ceramic coating which might coat one smaller car.

Our son flew in from Chicago for a few days and is enjoying his stay. We're going to go see my old house when we first moved to Ft. Lauderdale Florida back in October of 1969. Interesting that it's 53 years ago tomorrow that the moving truck got there & we officially moved in. House still looks the same with the same folks who bought it from our family I found out. Only time growing up I had my own bedroom, it was a 7/6.5 house on two lots in a gated community with a pool, sauna & shuffle board court. Was a good house with three kids in high school as it had a big party room which was definitely used by the folks & us kids with our youth groups.
After that, we hit the cemetery & saw both sets of his grandparents & my two brothers as my twins stone was just laid a couple of months ago. First time he's been home in over 4 years so he wanted to go pay his respects. His wife stayed home in Chicago as her mom has some kind of auto immune disease and they follow the Covid protocols very carefully. She won't come home tomorrow unless he's negative once he does the Covid test after getting home. As much as we wanted to see her also, we get that they have to be super careful who they come in contact with as no matter what some folks would have us believe, the Covid is still a deadly issue for some and due care must be taken!

I have owned 4 houses down through the years, all here in the greater Houston area, within a roughly 50 mile radius. Every few years, I drive around and look at the neighborhoods and the houses, just to see what changes have come about. Every house is still standing, and truthfully the neighborhoods haven't changed that much.

The neighborhood where I presently live, inner city, has changed more in the 11 years I've been here than the old neighborhood where I bought my first house in 1978.

our first single family (we had a small townhouse for a few years prior) was about 30 minutes from where our last house was. we drove through every few years to check out the neighborhood. It was new build back then (we were in early too) and it was interesting to see it mature. some of the houses got a touch seedy, but seeing trees I planted myself towering over the house, made me feel old! But I was proud that 30 years later, the deck I put on myself (yes, I used to be "my own guy") was still on the house and looked fine! I really overbuilt that sucker.

I did see the last house about a month after we sold it (had to drive back down to clean out our storage unit, and I had a few things to drop off to the new owners). and it was odd to already see changes, like a video doorbell and keypad door lock (replacing the expensive nice one I put on the year before with our new front door). But I was really bummed by how they had let my yard go!

It was a tough series to watch. The Yankees are built to "live and die by the home run." They died by it. Bader's home run was awesome, but the next inning they left 2 men stranded.

Judge is a fantastic, generational player. He's my 13 year old's favorite baseball player. It would be a shame if he goes to San Francisco. He's had a lot of "big" moments. So many of his 62 home runs were meaningful. He wasn't the only one who didn't hit against Houston. If you are are a true baseball fan (as opposed to the chest thumping Yankees fan that gives us a bad name), there is NO WAY you boo Judge.

So things with the Rubicon are stale for now. It is sitting in my garage looking awesome! I took it out the other night and drove my 13 year old to hockey practice. The rink is about 18 miles round trip. Kept it in Hybrid mode, took it on the highway and gave the gas engine a bit of a workout.

The Rubicon definitely drives more like a truck than my Sahara does. This is due to the different tires and suspension setup. It isn't harsh, but definitely not as smooth as the Sahara. With the soft top, visibility out the rear sides is much better than it is on my Sahara with the One Touch Roof. The ride height is a bit higher, I got quite a few "your high beams are on" flashes from traffic in the opposing lane on local roads. Overall, I'm happy with my Sahara as a daily driver.

Rubicon payment is due on the 29th of the month. It doesn't look like it will be gone by then, so I went ahead and made the payment.

My 16 year old got his permit about a month ago. I have taken him driving mostly in empty parking lots so he can get a feel for a car and how it drives. He's driven my Jeep and my wife's Highlander. Yesterday, my 13 year old had a hockey game in a quieter town than were we live. We had to be at the game an hour before start time as my son is the goalie and likes to take his time getting ready. While we were waiting, I took the opportunity to have my son drive. He went out on the road for the 1st time and did fantastic. He even went on a road with a 40 mph speed limit. As an adult it is so nerve racking.

While we were out, I saw a 2 door Bronco with Steelies that parked next to us. I looked closer and saw it was a 6-Speed stick. Interesting.

We got an email from our Ford dealer over the weekend to convert our 2022 Bronco order to a 2023. Kinda funny, since they have no idea we’ve already been through one Bronco.

It does give us an opportunity to reconfigure our order, just in case my wife or I want another Bronco next year.

Thanks for the well wishes. I emailed the dealer just now to try to get an ETA and/or the rail car number it is on (which you can use to track its progress to the rail yard, but it may sit there for a while before being trucked to the dealer).

I’ve said before that I prefer the interior of the XLT with some contrasting grey and orange parts, but from the photos I’ve seen, the base XL interior is comparable to what was in the Tundra, despite my Tundra’s MSRP being well over double that of my Maverick, so I think I will be fine with the XL.

  • stickguystickguy Member Posts: 53,389
Mine sat at the port for about a week I think. Hopefully granger does not play games. Some dealers apparently and stealing customer orders. No issues for me with Chapman, but I also did all the financing, etc in advance electronically. So would have been really hard to sell it out from under me. It did sit at the dealer for 4-5 days since it arrived the day I was leaving for Christmas vacation.

The big thing some people freak out about with the XL is no cruise control, but you can add that if you really care. Otherwise not all that much difference, other than the Steelies.

The 2022-2023 Jeep Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid is being recalled for a loss of battery power that increases the risk of a crash, the NHTSA disclosed Monday.

The high-voltage battery pack in the 2022-2023 Jeep Wrangler 4xe has incorrect fasteners to secure the 200-amp fuse. The wrong fastener can cause high resistance in the fuse interface, generate excessive heat, and potentially cause the fuse to fail. In that case, the Jeep could lose power and can increase the risk of a crash.

Owners may notice a malfunction light in the cluster, or a change in how it drives, or a noise coming from the the battery pack. The recall encompasses 13,722 Jeep Wrangler 4xe SUVs. Stellantis says it's aware of six field reports and three warranty claims, but no injuries or crashes.

Affected vehicles will be inspected for incorrect fasteners, and the fuse assembly will be replaced. If there have been any thermal events on the battery pack, such as charring or discoloration, Stellantis will replace the battery pack assembly.

Separately, diesel iterations of the 2020-2022 Jeep Wrangler were also recalled for a potential engine power loss.

Owners can expect notification by mail as early as Dec. 2, and the work will be covered under warranty. Stellantis will provide reimbursement for owners who have had the work done already, as long as the request comes with a receipt or "other adequate proof of payment."

For more info, contact Jeep customer service at 1-800-853-1403, or visit the brand's recall site.

Remind me - is this a lease or a purchase?

Purchase... apparently the rail car it's on has crossed into the US at Nogales, AZ.

@stickguy - Pretty much everyone who has picked up from Granger and posted on the board has had a positive experience. I think one guy ended up complaining because they installed some window deflectors he didn't order, but they didn't charge him for them. I'll definitely be adding cruise control.

The forum instructions for cruise seem pretty straightforward now. And thoroughly debugged. Complete with parts list. Just need to download ForScan. But can do a lot of other stuff with that too.

Yeah, definitely going to do the traffic sign recognition mod since the hardware is already there and it's free. I may also add the power tailgate lock, which appears to be about an $80 part and would give me a secure storage area once I put a tonneau on.

That is really neat that you can make those enhancements on the Maverick without much trouble.

I forgot about the tailgate lock. Mine came with it, and certainly wouldn’t be without it.
