Picked up multiple 2023 Toyota Camry's this week from a local dealer. LE's & SE's mostly. Nice driving vehicles to be honest which do everything right. Understand why they sell like hotcakes and get great gas mileage to boot. Did notice the dealer we picked them up from seemed to have adequate inventory of certain models with more arriving daily. Since we use the Florida turnpike on a frequent basis, do notice multiple car carriers going south to the area dealers. Not sure if we're back to pre-pandemic levels of inventory quite yet, but seem to be making up for low volumes. Not sure if we'll ever go back to the days of starting negotiations at invoice but guess we'll just have to wait & see! I know in my situation, will wait awhile before I decide to try & purchase the new 2024 Hyundai Kona. The new model looks to be a very nice vehicle so figuring initial sales will be quite brisk. So, probably will wait up to a year to find what I'm looking for. Since I'm in no real hurry, think this strategy will work. Not one of those folks that need to be first to get a new product.

Got back my Audiologic Report the other day and naturally, I'm below normal. Seems it's a bit lower than my 2019 test and again, was told I need hearing aids, something I'm not to keen on. I have a phobia about putting anything within my ears so those smaller in the ear units are something I won't even consider. Having my consultation on the 20th about what to do. Any suggestions? Am sure some of y'all wear them so feel free to shout out about what products are best, which are best for the cost...whatever, as I'm going in blind here & could use some help.

Get hearing aids ASAP. The older you get, the harder it will be to adjust to them. I have behind the ear units with a wire connected to an in-the-ear speaker. Mine are rechargeable, rather than separate battery.
I highly recommend Costco for hearing aids. The same units you pay $5000 for at the audiologist are $1800 at Costco.

This 2007 Acura TSX caught my eye. What also caught my eye is the fine print. $999 Doc Fee, $228 Electronic Titling Fee, & (here's the best one) Vehicle must be financed through the dealership financing institutions or a $2,995 market adjustment cost will be applied.

Those not from the Pittsburgh area say it’s easy to identify folks from the Burgh even when you don’t use yinser phrases. I can’t tell you how many times when I was visiting my Del Ray Beach brother folks in restaurants would say, “you’re from Pittsburgh aren’t you”? When I ask what I said that gave me away the answer was, “just the way you pronounce most words”. My brother would say, “don’t try to figure it out. I stopped trying years ago”.

got to talk about my truck today. Was leaving Aldis and walking up to put away the bags and a lady pulled in next to me, and asked out the window if it was the "electric" version. I confirmed that it was in fact the hybrid so she asked how I liked it. Turns out her nephew has one on order in CA (unclear if it is just the dealer out there, or him too!) and keeps talking about it and how anxious he is for it to arrive.
I told her she could safely tell him it is worth the wait.

I knew a girl from Philly when I was in school - she claimed people in WA (this was Bellingham, so maybe more Canadian influence) sounded like people in the movie "Fargo" (which was still relatively new then). However, her accent wasn't too strong - we did have a good soda vs pop discussion though.

IIRC she was on team "soda". It's pop here, at least in eastern WA when I was a kid. Hard to get people to agree in Seattle, as a relatively high amount of residents are transplants, which dilutes native dialects.

Like I said, here in the Burgh, it’s pop. When at restaurants I say Coke out of habit but if the restaurant has Pepsi they ask if that’s OK. Given a choice I prefer Pepsi.
I’ve heard from the owner of a small grocery chain here that there are pockets in the country where Pepsi is more popular than Coke and the Burgh is one of those pockets.
BTW, restaurants around here always have Heinz ketchup on the table. Since it’s made here if by chance some other brand was used there would be a revolt.

I had every intention of coming out today, @tifighter . Minor issue though - took my kiddo to the mariners game last night. He started complaining he wasn’t feeling well, so we left. Made it all the way home to the foot of the driveway before he unloaded all over the backseat of the BMW.
Spent the better part of last night taking care of him and then today cleaning, shampooing, and deodorizing the interior. And then dismantling his seat covers and washing them. Smell seems to be largely gone now.
He’s totally fine now, thankfully, but that car is now officially broken in!

Anybody with kids has a story like that. In our case, it was my stepson in my wife's new Escort with a tan interior .... after Mexican food for dinner.
I have one. Back when I had a 1991 Subaru Legacy wagon, we decided to sell that to get a Voyager. The day I was taking it to meet the person buying it, I picked my son up at elementary school (in kindergarten) and on the way home he barfed and soaked the seatbelt mostly. Fabric seats too. So that was a fun scramble getting it good enough that the new owner would not notice!
My daughter used to upset herself to the point where she would get sick. I've never come so close to strangling a kid in my life as those few times. It was absolutely infuriating. Thankfully, I came to recognize it was coming, so I'd pull over, throw her out of the car, and just wait it out.

It’s pop here in the Burgh.

IIRC she was on team "soda". It's pop here, at least in eastern WA when I was a kid. Hard to get people to agree in Seattle, as a relatively high amount of residents are transplants, which dilutes native dialects.
And yeah, definite accents in MN and WI too.

In KY, it's Coke.. no matter the brand or type of soda/pop.

I spent a week in Fergus Falls, MN (about an hour or so east of Fargo) back in the early 90's. Super friendly people.
