What do we think of the new Scout lineup? The pricing seems attractive for a larger EV. I would guess a range in the low 200s for the base model, but they are claiming up to 350 miles is available, or over 500 miles with the EREV option.

To see where VW will take the Scout, I'd just look at the ID Buzz now. Base model of the VW also starts around $60k with a 86kWh battery. The van is rated for an EPA range of about 230 miles, with real world reviews now showing about 200 mile realistic range. The Scout will have to use a similar sized battery to hit the price point, but it's dimensions are bigger than a Rivian, so 200 mile range on the base model sounds about right. Maybe even (gulp) optimistic. I think the one a customer will really want will be considerably more expensive.

The range extender could make it an interesting option, although I’m pretty sure we’re talking huge money at that point.

I can’t believe they are STILL trying to produce the new VW bus. I was very interested when we saw the concept at the NYIAS sometime near the turn of the century.

I keep meaning to ask, how'd the kid do?
He was here for almost 3 hours on the interior only - I felt like he did a pretty good job. He cleaned both sets of mats - carpet and rubber.

Typical VW, now that it's official, it's overpriced for what it is and the cruising range is poor. At least it sounds like the Scout will offer multiple battery/propulsion configurations.
————————————————- I don’t usually look at this stuff but for grins I did this time. I can see the models are different but based on MSRP/Months/Monthly Payment, I don’t get it.

Frankly, it's sad. Really great vehicle configuration and appearance, and it would have been a perfect intro in, say, 2018 right after the diesel fiasco, but it falls far short of market expectations in 2025.

I still smile every time I get behind the wheel or even see my Golf, so I quite understand where you're coming from with your new Subaru. Still loving it just as I did after the first time I got behind the wheel! Told the Mrs. when she got home tonight about the new GTI and she was all for it. But, since I'm having second thoughts, I never went over there today for a test drive. Think I'll wait till the 2025's come out by now. Not in any hurry really and now have more then enough to pay it all in cash, a good thing!

You've got a beautiful car. Good color. Nice wheels. I understand wanting to get something newer, but I can't see trading in a car that makes someone smile when they are getting in it.
I shouldn't go against the philosophy of this forum, but I feel the same way about both of my cars. The Cruze, not so much, but it's still there.
The VW dealer I visit has 2025 Jettas, GLIs and Atlas(s). I believe the GTIs are all sourced from Germany which accounts for the late arrival. The revised 25 Taos is expected later as well.

Not 100% sure, but think my oldest is gifting me her iPhone 15 Max Pro like next week. I know she wants the new iPhone 16 same model. She gave her sister her iPhone 14 Max Pro last year to replace her outdated SE model. Also gave her an excuse to get the iPhone 15. She's the social media director where she works so likes to have the newest camera Apple makes. I have the iPhone 12 now, the 6.1" version with 64 gigs, but am starting to run out of space. Have mentioned I might just go ahead and trade it in, but she keeps telling me to wait. Monday, she kept asking me if I will take her iPhone 15 and finally said sure if she's really 100% sure she wants to do this. Has already had an excellent case with protection all around so know it's in like ew condition. Guess I'll get used to the bigger size, 6.7"'s. So we shall see if this all pans out. Seems like transferring my e-sim and data should be no issue, as I did it with my 12 when it was new.
So, will be watching to see if she really is mailing it down to me. Told her she should really trade it in for her new 16 model to save herself a few bucks, but not sure she will do this. Not getting my hopes up that it'll come soon but will be pleasantly surprised if it does. I know it's got like 512 gigs of storage. If this all does play out, will just give my 12 to the Mrs. since she's got an older XR like I used to have. This is the last year the XR will take updates from Apple, so she's going to have to upgrade eventually anyways. And the bigger screen will help with using the GPS at work since I usually need reading glasses to see my current scren.

I'm still using my iPhone 8 that I picked up in February 2020. My wife wants me to get a 15 Pro or 16 Pro but I don't see the need. She also wanted to have a retirement party for me but I gave her a definite no- and that I'd be doubly p*ssed off if I had a "surprise" party.

One of my former high school teachers' husband surprised her with a retirement party. You had to get up pretty early in the morning to pull one over on her. He had a couple of his assistants at the office tell her it was "boss appreciation week" or some made-up holiday, and that they were planning to surprise him by taking him out to dinner at a local restaurant and they would like for her to join them. They arrived there for her to find that the only other guests at the table were her close teacher friends. She was NOT happy about it!
I've had a lot of people get torqued about retirement parties. I have to remind them that the party really isn't about them, it's about giving others the opportunity to say goodbye in a setting that offers a lasting memory. It's just a milestone; go with it!
When my turn comes, I'm going to do my level best to be gracious about it.

Have tried numerous times to tell her to just keep what she's got for another year as I can also wait and if I do decide to get one, I'd go with the smaller 15 or 16 either way. But, still not 100% sure what she's gonna do. First off, she'd need to purchase her new iPhone, then move her data onto her new 16. Then she'd need to reset her 15 to factory settings and get it down to me here in South Florida...she's just outside Orlando. So, if it does happen, could take another week at the earliest for anything to happen.
So, not holding my breath here. If it happens, I'll be happy and if it doesn't happen, I'll still be just as happy. I've thought about trading up but haven't pulled the trigger as of yet. A pattern in my life which continues! Takes me awhile to make many decisions while others, well I can do right away. Guess some kids today want the newest tech they can get where I'm a bit old school and can wait a bit...not an "early adapter" by any means. Some folks actually look forward to when new phones come out & order right when they can. I can get that as they're really like us car lovers in Edmunds, they just love and covet the newest smartphone tech.

Sandy, the current process for transferring data between iOS devices is SIMPLE. Within an hour or so of receiving a new device, you should be up and running as if the new one is the old one, and the old one is just as easy to wipe once you're satisfied that the transfer is done.

I get all that, but I despise the thought of having one. I had a little party (against my will) when I retired the first time. Once is enough. I'd MUCH rather people donate to organizations helping the hurricane victims (people and/or animals) in FL, GA, NC, and TN than make a big deal over something everybody winds up doing sooner or later.

Welp. I’ve put nearly 500 miles on the WRX and I can’t stop smiling every time I drive it. I’m definitely regressing in maturity - I love the exhaust with the STI mufflers and I really really like the engine. The twin scroll turbo is just so good for spirited daily driving. No turbo lag, no rev hang - just power at every part of the band. The styling isnt as aggressive as it could be but I think it looks great, particularly in the rally blue color. Moving to the Pilot all seasons was definitely the right move, as well.
