Seriously, they had White with black or tan service loaners as well.

The main point of going, yesterday, was so she could drive it, and make sure she was comfortable behind the wheel, and with the seating. All that was good.

Also, to insure the car came with all the options on her current car. Also, good.

It never fails that she falls in love with a color combo that is more money. It happened with her X3, as well.

She likes the black interior better, as the other one is Beige/black, and the beige color is pretty meh. Sort of like the old standard Sand interior on BMWs. Her X3 has that same 2-tone, but the color is more baseball glove brown, and it's gorgeous.

Chalk has black
Blue has 2-tone beige/black

She liked both colors, but I'm not going to be able to save $3200 by getting her the second choice.

I would rather have white than chalk

I wrongly assumed that since you had different color options that you looked at, that you would consider different color options.

I have a nicely equipped Macan as a loaner with the 911 getting repaired, though I’ve only driven it one day as we’ve had quite the snow storm (and I’ve opted to use my Audi with winter tires).

The base model may get ignored by the media most of the time, but it’s a really nice, engaging drive. Easy to make a comparison to the Audi Q5 (or others like it), but it definitely has its own distinct Porsche flair.

Chalk is nice - wife loves it on her Cayman.

Absolutely not.. we have another Porsche dealer, close by. The Macan is the main vehicle Porsche uses for service loaners, so plenty of selection. And, we would consider a new one, if she found the perfect combo. (hopefully not)

So, we'll check them out, as well. Possibly find a color or interior she likes better? Doubtful

But, maybe some competitive quotes.

I know she could go for the red interior, but that only comes with a leather package upgrade that is $2000-$4000. The standard interior is only leather on the seating surfaces.

@breld Also, I love those wheels. At the brewery this afternoon, there was a white one that had those same wheels (20") in a medium gray.

I kind of get it. Silver was pretty rare 10-15 years ago, but now its ubiquitous.

Should I ever get the chance to replace the Outback, I'll try to avoid silver/grey. I've been comparing the various mid-size hybrid sedans (Camry, Accord, Sonata) for grins, lately. Toyota has a nice white over red combo, and the Hyundai can be had with a pretty nice shade of brown leather on the Limited trim. The Honda, sadly, only comes available with a black interior.

They have Volcano Gray which is very, very dark. In the showroom under all the lights, it looks great, but out on the lot, it looks like dirty black.

Good luck replacing the 79K mile X3. The Macan is an excellent choice! Chalk is a gorgeous color! Which blue is that? The blue is very pretty too, but harder to keep clean than black!

My favorite execution of those was on the 80s Japanese sedans. It was like they were catering to the US but even then it looked so out of place with the body style

My dad had that exact red interior with a silver exterior. And like the picture, it had the buttons.

There must be regional variations. Here, silver used to be everywhere and I started to not like it, although there are good shades (Lexus Atomic Silver) and others not so good. But locally, white is by far the most common shade. I used to like white cars and my former ‘11 Regal was white and looked good, but these days white paint is everywhere and I wouldn’t want it now. I would take silver with red interior all day long.

Pretty sure that’s what happened with the Sportage. When I pulled up in front of the studio for the girls to take a test drive, their first comment was that the matte paint looked “butch”. The red interior sealed the deal.

my wife hats real red interior. I was lucky to get her to take the saddle interior in the RDX!

Carvana sends me emails on that. Just got one (dropped 2K!) at about $26,000. but they think it has 12k more miles than it does, so I am guessing about $28K. Which seems pretty good, until you do the math on what a new Macan or X1 or X3 (whatever the replacement would be) would cost on top of that!

It doesn't and I could not care less; it's built under an exemption that allows manufacturers to sell a limited number of "vintage" cars. In this case only 325 per year are coming to the US.

Ugh. Wife must have gone over a nail in the Q5 today. Losing air very fast, but not enough to go flat. Hoping it’s repairable otherwise a set of Michelin CrossClimates will be on order….

Awful morning folks!!! Had roadside set for between 7 am and 8 am but get a call at 5:08 am telling me he's ready to come jump me. I said are you crazy? It's set for 7 am. Ask him to come at 6:30 then nothing but crickets. By 6:45, I call and he says "5 minutes" and finally by 6:55, he came. Tried to sell me a battery but still have a year left on my Diehard Gold battery. Get to TP and only costs me $33 and change and am out the door. We're good. Decided to wait on the coolant and brakes until 2025.

Problem happened when I backed out of the garage. Hit the side mirror...again!!! Couldn't believe it...seems I pulled in on an angle and when exiting, hit the side. Mirror still works as does the turn signal, it's the outer blue housing that's off the track now. Had the same issue after Hurricane Irma back in 2017 so it's gonna cost me almost $800.00 to fix this little incident. Body shop has to get the mirror, paint it & install it all. Just a pain and so unnecessary but if I do end up getting something newer, gotta fix the mirror now anyways. Life never stops throwing things our way...it's just how we deal with them that counts!

Was there a diagnosis as to why the battery ran down? Defective battery? I assume he used a tester on it as part of the jumping?

Or is some device in the car discharging it?

Update. My wife punctured it on a sharp rock. On the mean, rugged streets of Seattle. Repairable and has plenty of tread left. Gonna go buy a lottery ticket.

What brand of tire on the Q5? We have stayed with the Audi (AO spec shown on the tire) spec Continental Cross Sports and have been happy with them. They are 19s, ride smoothly, quiet, no traction issues. Tire Rack gave them a positive test review.

Sandy can’t the outer shell be popped back on? A little gorilla glue or JB weld to take care of any loose spots!

As I have gotten (ahem) older, I have found the new surround backup cameras are a godsend. They help pulling frontways too into tight spots. Another reason to be looking into a new vehicle, Sandy!
