wow. How could I forget (OK, I know how, work has trashed my last bit of mental capacity, and I can barely remember my own name). I have had back to back Mavericks, but I consider that a unique circumstance with the whole 16 month wait for the hybrid!
Since the late 70's, best I can recall without really thinkng about it too much, my wife and I have had 24 Fords(up to 5 at the same time), 3 Lincolns(I know, I know). Pretty much everything else was a 1 and done.
If we count my son’s college car, we’ve had 3 Mazdas, a 323, a 626 hatch and a 6. Two Hondas, a Civic and an Accord. Back to back — the Chevy Volt and the Blazer EV. Never repeated the same model.

I can see why @fintail hasn't chimed in. He's so all over the map on his automotive purchases, it's probably embarrassing for him to admit.
I guess I can chime in - I've had 8 MBs and haven't had a different brand since I was 18. I leased 3 W212s. I've had cars from the 60s, 80s, 90s, 00s, 10s.

I have had two Caddy ATS 4-doors, a 2014 and a 2017 both in the same paint color, Red Obsession, though that wasn’t by design. The ‘14 was my choice and the dealer brought it in from another dealer for me. It was a nice car but a base model turbo 4 with a black interior (ugh). It was a lease and when that was up I decided to get off the lease train and bought the ‘17, a Premium Performance the dealer had in stock with a Kona brown interior, the 3.6 and all the toys. Great car.
See they bought up in Mt. Kisco. We weren't to far from there growing up in Westchester. Nice part of New York, close to the city & New Jersey where my dad worked and had a factory. And close to Connecticut where we spent our summers. Hope to get back there one more time before I exit this earth though traveling is a bit rough for me right now.
Closed the front passenger door at work yesterday morning and the blue plastic covering on top of the mirror flew off. Tried to get it back on but no luck. After a few tries, seemed to get it lined up properly and after a few hard hits, the top and sides felt like they were getting a grip and adjusting the bottom, all the sides were back in their grooves. Didn't fall off on the way home and looks pretty good right now. Was just afraid I'd hit a bump and it would pop of while I was driving but so far...so good. Looks like I dodged another bullet here and that top part just came out of the grooves holding it in place. Electric turn signal in the mirror assembly works fine. Will probably fold that mirror in manually when I pull in/out of the garage for awhile. We did talk about taking out that closet we added years ago which would give us the extra width we need. Think when we do the pendants in the kitchen, we'll just hire someone who does electric and drywall to fix these couple of issues for us. Since we've decided to stay for awhile, might just be worth it.
———————————————— Take the cover on and off a few times until you get the hang of knowing where and how hard to push at various points to get it on. Then when you’re sure you can do it, get some Super Glue Gel (I’ve had good luck with the Locktite brand) and put some beads of it in the grooves and a few other contact points. Be careful because you’ll only get one shot at it with that glue. So get lots of on/off practice. Once it’s on, that housing will NEVER come off again, believe me.

Better to leave it unglued if it is secure. Otherwise next time you catch the edge instead of popping the cover off you might rip the whole mirror off.

It sounded like he was afraid the cover would pop off while he was driving. That would be a big road hazard. Of course he could use duct tape and replace it after every rain. From the way @Sandman6472 described the mirror he has nothing to lose by gluing it. As for "catching the edge"and ripping the mirror off, sooner or later you just gotta know not to do that again. I doubt his mirror is any closer to the door jams than when I pull our cars in (about 1 1/2 inches) I don't have to get that close but I trust myself. I haven't whacked a mirror yet. Can't say the same for Mrs. j, though.

Think I might just pull the mirror in closer to the car before I pull in and use my cane to push it out once I exit the garage. Or, I can go back to pulling in at an angle so nowhere near the side of the garage door. Just being super careful right now but will have to decide sooner or later about just taking that front closet out for good. We can always hang our few coats somewhere else. Then, the Kona can be pulled in a bit closer to the left side freeing up the space I need to do no more harm. Just hoping we have no vehicular issues for awhile as I plan to do the coolant flush come January and the brakes, eventually.

Some final details and of course some pics (or it didn’t happen).
The final lease agreement shows 8% off sticker and only $1,500ish in negative equity. It was a win for them since they had 3 payments left, were way over the mileage, and their ‘22 wasn’t in the best shape. They still managed to sneak in A $300 pre paid maintenance even though they said they didn’t want it. I’ve already put a call into the sales dude and am waiting to hear back.
I think it's easier for me to outline what brands I HAVEN'T owned....
-Buick -Chrysler -No Italian brands -Mercedes -Porsche -Tesla (or Rivian, or Lucid) -Hyundai (although I bought my son a new Elantra, he drove it...but technically, I owned it) -Jeep -VW -Lexus -Subaru (actually, I owned one of those, too....but it was driven solely by my ex)
I think that's it! All the rest have graced my estate at one point or another. And, some aren't even made any more....(looking at you Oldsmobile).
It’s easier just to list mine:
1974 Monte Carlo (seriously modded- really)
1969 Datsun SPL-311 Roadster
1967 Buick Riviera(bought for $5 in 1979)
1979 Plymouth Arrow GT 2.6 (fast for it's day)

I thought of taking that route once… but there are WAY MORE brands than come immediately to mind. Just off the top of my head of those I haven’t had yet: Bentley, Rolls, Skoda, Peugeot, Citroen, Renault, Audi, Lexus, Morgan, MG, Trabant, Lada, Caterham, AC, Kia, Lambo, Ferrari, and on and on and on.

I forgot about the European brands outside of Germany. I did own an MGB-GT at one time. But, no Land Cruisers (although, are they British or Chinese these days?).
Have never owned a Genesis, either. Although I do like them. They are scarce around these parts, though.

Thanks for those.. since we’re trading in, she won’t be with me. 🙂 She doesn’t mind short visits to shop for cars, but she can’t stand waiting for an hour to complete a deal. Add in the 3 hour round trip, and she respectfully passed on going.
Whether it’s this time, or not, I’ll definitely use those restaurant recs, at some point.

The dealer started at $11K, but came up to $13K, and we agreed. With the sales tax credit on the trade-in, I'm only out $220 by trading it. Considering the round trip, it's worth it.

Going to be shopping next spring with my daughter since the lease on her cx30 is up in June. She always wanted a Volvo XC40. If they still make gas powered ones. But saw an article today that Acura is coming out with a smaller than RDX CUV powered by the integra (aka civic Si) power train. Sharp looking. She liked it in pictures. Could be a good option for her.

Stick, what's this about a smaller Acura CUV??? Sounds interesting. Most things I'm still considering just aren't making me run down to the dealership to be honest. Think I'd like an Acura product if all the variables measure up. I'm hoping eventually, there will be a vehicle like my current Golf SE that I still get that sh-t eating grin whenever I see it. There's got to be something out there that will make me want to spend my money on to own it. There's just got to be something coming down the pike!!!

You can return your leased car to any dealer of the same brand.

Good to hear you’re not on the fence anymore.
FWIW, I drove more than twice that for my last 3 new cars bought out of state.

since we’re trading in, she won’t be with me. 🙂
She doesn’t mind short visits to shop for cars, but she can’t stand waiting for an hour to complete a deal.

Good move getting the 2024 and the extra goodies. 5.5 years of warranty on a Porsche sounds like a good thing to have too.
