Got to work an additional 3.5 hours this week but I really wanted to go in today and tomorrow but was told no! Thought that was a bit dumb as I know we had a whole lot of reservations and not enough drivers at least for tomorrow. But it did make me reach out to my old boss in West Palm about possibly coming back a couple days each week. The only issue is I do have a few points which won't come off until early 2017. I spoke with his secretary this morning and was upfront about this issue. She called back within 5 minutes to say he had overheard our conversation and said that I'm a good guy who always showed up even though I did live a distance away. He also said I was a good driver and that he will go to bat for me with the company owner next week to see about me coming back after the new year. As it is now, I sit home for those 4 days each week and would like to make some more $ on a couple of them to be honest. So hoping he can get me back into the fold but not going to get too optimistic about it as I don't want to get my hopes up quite yet. It's a real shame that I had an issue with that one person at my first company as I'd go back there in a heartbeat if I could a couple days a week as it is closer and all. I did inquire about it awhile back but nothing so far. Even saw my last lead there last week and was polite and shook his hand as I don't have any issues with him. All I want to do is drive and make some more income, this personal nonsense is so unnecessary so we'll see about that also. Wife and kids still think I'm nuts and should just stay the course and work 3 days. But lately I have been feeling a bit better which is why I'm looking to fill another couple of days. Guess if it's meant to be, G-d will make it a reality on his time table!

That is breld's 5th punch for the year and 32 for our group as a whole. It is also the first punch in December. 23firefighter had predicted 33 punches for the year and xwesx had predicted 31, so they are both "closest."
Be thankful if you work in an office that doesn't receive an excessive number of holiday treats... Mine has run on cookies and chocolate since about December 1 and I've felt gross pretty much the whole month.

There is still a week and a half left in the month. I could still have it spot on!

I have that 540i bookmarked, even though the interior is dodgy, plus I would bet the thrust arm bushings are bad and there are at least two undisclosed fluid leaks.

Merry xmas eve to those who care, and happy beginning of winter to all.
congrats on the Routan. The DodgeLerWagon triplets were on the tip of my suggestive tongue but I am not confident enough in their reliability to suggest them to others. I hope yours treats you well.
huh...I only made 1 punch this year. Maybe I am on the road to recovery! We have had the volvo for over 3 years now, I believe. That's a really good sign.

Well said, sir!
I pray you are recovering from your recent medical challenges, and you have a wonderful Christmas season!
I haven't bought anything for several years, but I am continuously entertained by the folks in here that keep the automotive economy running.
Happy/Merry to all CCB'ers and CCShoppers! New car-less since New Year's Eve 2013...

Okay - we went ahead and bought the Routan. At 50k miles under $10k, we decided it was hard to pass up. It's the one-price sonic dealer where iluvsephia was looking at the scions. I was able to get them down a little to $9,500, so we pulled the trigger.
We also had our sons caretaker look at the car and she just loved it.
Was curious what kind of deal I could wrangle on Christmas Eve. Stopped by to see my BMW guy given he sent me a card and a coupon for a free hand car wash at the dealership.
He had an X5 all loaded up that was allegedly used by a BMW exec....~3K miles, still looks/smells new. They got aggressive on the X5. Problem, no one can put a number on the '16 CTS. He said he'd have more info next week after consulting some other sources.
My Cadillac dealer called yesterday wanting to know if something was wrong. They received a call from my BMW dealer asking them to put a number on a 2016 metallic white CTS (only one they've sold). They were wondering if it was me, given the two dealerships are within a few miles of each other.
I told them the CTS was fine. That I was still reeling from the last go round with Cadillac and still thinking of letting it go.
They told me the number, which was about $2K under what I bought it for. But, they said they're trying to sell right not, not buy. So, to wait until after the first of the year.
BMW dealer has a nice 2015 535i that I liked, too. We'll see if they come back with another number from somewhere else on the CTS.
I'd think long and hard before I bought an F10 5er; the car is no longer a nimble sport sedan. Rather, it's a cushy luxobarge that is more Lexus than Bimmer. The last F10 535i I drove was an M Sport my dealer gave me for a loaner. I told my wife that it was the perfect car for me- once I turned 80.

That is what sucks about asking dealers to make an offer on your car. Most of them just call the other make's dealer and find out what they can get for it. They really have no interest in buying your car. Found that out with an Acura Vigor, once.
Why not sell it on your own? I did a similar thing for a friend. He bought his wife a new BMW convertible but she didn't like convertibles, turns out. It wasn't that easy to sell, even with only 700 miles on it. It had to be priced attractively enough to seem like a good deal vs. driving a hard bargain at the dealer on a brand new one. Cant' quite recall but I think we had to eat about $3,000 bucks + the sales tax of course. The wife was put on probation.
Kyfdx....I agree. If the dealer doesn't want my car, tell me. But, if they want to make a deal, the trade is part of the deal.
RB....kind of nasty weather here, but just did a quick test drive of the 535ix. You're right. Felt heavy and unresponsive compared to my CTS....even though the BMW has more power than my CTS. $63K msrp. I could probably buy it for mid $50s before any trade.
Being a moderator on these forums occasionally has its drawbacks.
Somebody posted on The Hyundai Genesis lease for him about a deal they made at the dealer where I got my car. Turns out this guy had two years left on his lease and they gave him $3000 more than the buyout value in trade
Which got me thinking… if they did it once, why couldn't they do it again? They're offering over $5000 off on both Elantra and sonata sedans.
Wondering if I could find a sub $200 per month deal on either one?
I am off work this week, which gives me too much time to think about this.
Mr Shiftright.....not particularly motivated regarding selling/trading the CTS right now. That said, I have next week off, too. That could be dangerous, given it's EOY, weather around here is dismally grey, and I might wonder how far a dealer might go to strike a deal on something that interests me.
And we have a punch...the 335i is gone, replaced with a 2016 X6 space gray with ivory interior. Exceptional deal on an exceptional car. Details later!!

Congratulations on the new car! Certainly something you won't see every day
Well, I am three months into the Volvo now, and am feeling good about it, which is a strong endorsement by CCBA standards, I think. No issues yet, but it obviously hasn't been very long. But the 'grace, pace and space' factor is high with this one. I had a four year goal for this car. My history suggests this is nuts, but we'll see.
More exciting, I misspoke earlier. Not only did 28firefighter predict 33 punches for the year, so did au1994! This may be a first, making a purchase in a blatant attempt to make one's own prediction come true. Congrats on the X6.
Any other predictions for 2016? Michaell predicted 25.

I think I've got a bad case of decision paralysis- even worse than when I was shopping for a(relatively) high end CD player back in 1990. I wound up with a Rotel RCD-855; for what it's worth, the runners-up were the Adcom GCD-575 and the Denon DCD 1520- but I digress... I guess it's the excitement(or lack thereof) factor; I want something that will keep me entertained for at least 4-5 years, and nothing I have driven has left me with the "I MUST have this car!!!" feeling that I had after test driving my old 535is and M6. Maybe I should throw all the candidates in a hat and draw one out...

That, or realize that nothing's much better than what you've already got.
Won't help the economy any, but you buy few enough "new" vehicles that it'll probably work out in the long run.
My TSX doesn't turn my crank the way my 240Z did, or even my MGB, but it's competent and has three pedals -- good chance I'll keep it for several more years, given that there's nothing out there that appeals.

Perhaps you're looking in the wrong direction. You've talked about that M6 for as long as I can remember. What about trying to find another one? It's older now, but, so what?
