It is best price. may be $30 more

I got LE V4, with CF Total through Costco program $21568.65.
Also found that not all dealer can match price of Costo or have inventory and silver bullet!

Thanks, greencal! Makes me feel better.
My previous car buying experience was traumatic, to say the least, due to needing a car ASAP, and I didn't know about this forum at that time. This time, I'm glad I decided to research and get other's input before commiting to buying the car. As soon as I get my financing check, I will return to the dealer. Hopefully they will have the color I want, otherwise, I can wait. I won't settle for anything else.
    Thanks, everyone!

At 23, 340, it seems as though you didnt add VSC...

Thanks so much for the info! Thats exactly the type of info I'm looking for. Seats are an important part of the overall "fit" of a car. Is the ride firm yet compliant? Which review were you reading?

    Thanks again. :)

I'd like to buy a 2007 Camry LE AT with Vehicle Stability Control(VS). Fitzmall.com sell LE AT with VS. But I can't find one in Denver area. I visited Toyota.com and can't configure a LE AT with VS by using zipcode 80201. Does anyone know the reason?
  • lzclzc Member Posts: 483
Toyota has 12 sales regions in the U.S. Each region, apparently, determines the options mix that will be offered for their territory. So . . . the Mid-Atlantic (Fitzmall) offers VSC as a single option, while the Pacific Northwest includes it only in a package that also includes a moonroof and other stuff (on the LE I4 model). Denver may do something similar.

Toyota's next advertising slogan will definitely NOT be "Have it your way."

I should have added to the above note that some dealers will cooperate in handling special orders, others won't. I'd guess that as the new model hoopla dies down, they will be more receptive to special orders. Good luck.

I am surprised and disappointed that the Passat and Altima were not present to show their wares. That is unfortunate.

The Altima was probably omitted due to the redesign impending, with the new model premiering at the NYIAS.

Not nearly as compliant as the XLE - but I found the XLE too compliant for my tastes. If the handling of the XLE was close to the SE, I would have bought it - It is a better value and I'm not crazy about the "ground effects" on the SE. I ordered mine w/o the spoiler.

On the handling issue, I was very impressed w/ the cornering on the SE, while the XLE leaned (and I found myself hitting the brakes on the the XLE on the same curve that felt secure w/ the SE). You do feel the little bumps more readily, but that's what you get w/ low profile 17" tires and a stiffer suspension. For my wife & I (both mid 50's) - we prefer the handling to the soft, spongy feel.

If you compare the seats, the seatbacks are pretty flat on the XLE allowing some body movement on sharp turns, while the SE seat cradles you - possibly not comfortable if your back is wide. Here is the link to the review:

That's the issue I raised on the Ford Fusion forum. How Edmunds could not include the Altima, Passat, Legacy and G6 is beyond me. I would have liked to see the playing field in that comparison test widened a bit.

I hope they do a follow up soon and put the Camry against the G6, and the redesigned Altima and Sebring.

I've been offered out-the-door price (exclusive of TTL here in Oklahoma) of $22,544.50 for a 4 cyl, automatic, LE with Leather, Sunroof, power seat/mirrors, keyless remote. I've had a hard time finding accurate pricing due to the color/option combo that I want. Dealer said it would take 2 weeks for the exact car to get here.

Anyone have any thoughts on this price?
  • njeraldnjerald Member Posts: 689
Prices on '07 LE 4 cyl, auto, leather, sunroof (power seat and keyless remote are std.):

    MSRP $22,020
Dealer Invoice 19,980-20,180 (ask the dealer)
    Mfr. Invoice 19,680

Hopefully that combo of options is offered in your area. Go to Toyota website and Build your own with your Zip Code area to get MSRP and option packages available.

I just purchase one and without TTL my price was 23021 but it has the Option Pkg D for list price 1757,no sunroof with leather for 1399. MSRP was 24291.00 not a bad price for me and I LUV IT.
  • alpha01alpha01 Member Posts: 4,747
Where are you getting those prices? Where are you seeing leather as a factory option on the LE?

Test drove an '07 SE 4cyl w/cloth, SR, JBL, VSC. The car rides very firm compared to the LE. I noticed some tire noise due to the agressive low profiles. The car is still much quieter & compliant than the Accord.

The "fishscale" fabric is not very attractive either. The material is course & looks cheap.

The car had the same transmission "confusion" as the LE I drove yesterday. Almost felt like gears slipping.

Do all '07 Camry's have the adaptive transmission or just the V6? I will wait a few months to see if transmission bugs are worked out.
  • shellrehmshellrehm Member Posts: 15
I was told it's not really factor leather it's port installed leather. At my dealership you can have any car changed to dealer installed leather for 1000.00 but the leather I have is the exact same leather as what I saw in the XLE. Liquidcell or something like that. I didn't want dealer installed leather. As far as where? I am from Texas. If you build one on toyota.com you can also add leather to an LE when building it.
  • kdhspyderkdhspyder Member Posts: 7,160
That's because in Gulf States Toyota region ( GST ) they like SET will put leather and other goodies onto vehicles at the port but they are inclued on the website which are controlled regionally.

    rolandssng,
That sounds WAY to much. Best advice is to get out of the "Gulf States"! The closest non-Gulf States dealer to you is Quality Toyota just across the state line in Kansas, 67301. I'd be VERY surprised if they can't beat your best deal. Do you really want to pay $600+ for a "Protection Package"? They don't play that game in Kansas. Leather is going to be a trick though. Since it's not a factory option, they will have to "add" it like the other dealers.
  • lmacmillmacmil Member Posts: 1,758
I'm sure they can be removed but my guess is the attachments will still be affixed to the body and removing those would probably leave a lot of little holes.
  • blindmantooblindmantoo Member Posts: 139
I agree on all of the "bling" on the SE - but still ordered one last week - w/o the rear spoiler. I like the lines of the XLE much better, but the soft handling was not acceptable. Added every option except the spoiler, smart key(dealer said it wasn't available on the SE yet), and the homelink.

I live in FLA, wondering if it's worth the trip to DC to purchase at Fitz? Recommendations on the best place to buy?

I got that price from Bob Howard Toyota in north OKC.

RESPONSE TO ADAPTIVE TRANNY QUESTIONS: Yes the Camry has an adaptive transmission that might delay response when you test drive one. I noticed it on the V6 I bought - but within about 100 miles -- it learned my habits and is very responsive now -- no delays -- no anything -- it almost knows what I am going to do now -- which is scary! -- LOL

My Acura TL has windnoise going only 60 miles per hour, it just seems quiet because I put up the volume on the Bose Sound System

I have test driven several Acura TL's and none had wind noise at that speed or, for that matter, at 80 mph. They also did not have Bose sound systems. Rather, they were Panasonic systems, both with respect to the head unit and the speakers.

Are you sure you have an Acura TL?
  • fsowirlesfsowirles Member Posts: 195
Priggly: You are correct. The ELS/DVD-audio system in the Acura TL is from Panasonic. The RL has Bose. IIRC the TL hasn't had a Bose system since the previous generation.

Finally saw and drove an SE V6 today. Liked the sportier look and liked the grille too. However, I thought the ride was considerably more bumpy than the LE; wasn't sure if i was crazy about the sport suspension. Also I thought the seats were less comfortable... and I prefer cloth to leather as well as the white on black speedometer/tachometer of the other models. So I guess I will definitely be going with an LE V6.

Also, I finally saw the gray metallic color in person at another lot, and was rather fond of it. So now will decide between the desert sand mica and gray metallic. :)
  • alpha01alpha01 Member Posts: 4,747
The 4 cylinder 5 speed automatic is the exact same adaptive type transmission that was used in the 05-06 models of 4 cylinder automatic variety. Gear ratios werent even modified in anyway. (This disppointed me, because I was hoping Toyota would revise the transmission in hopes of weight savings, efficiency, performance...something!)

The transmission "confusion" that you report is suprising, given that this vehicle has been tested by many and the 5A/4cylinder powertrain was not ever cited as having issues (as the Gen 5 V6/5A was...)

  • tuffytuffy Member Posts: 63
Wonder why Toyota didn't at least refresh the 4 cylinder to get more gas mileage? I got an advertisement from Toyota ion the mail yesterday touting 3 new powertrains for the 2007 Camry. Am I missing something as I thought there were only 2 new powertrains, the new 3.5 litre 6 cylinder and the hybrid system in May. The current 4 cylinder and transmission in the 2007 is exaxtly the same as the 2005/2006 versions. Is Toyota also confused! Maybe they really did mean to have a new 4 cylinder and somebody forgot to pass the word on down to the production guys!
  • alpha01alpha01 Member Posts: 4,747
Despite not gaining a lot of hp, the 2.4L was moderately revised, according to the Camry Press Release. It is NOWHERE near all new, however. The 4 cylinder auto transmission is completely carryover.

    Plodding and methodical..

This is the Generation of the V6's - ICE and Hybrid.

The 2002 model Gen5 was the 4c improvement from ~125 hp to ~ 150 hp

The next Gen7 should be a significant improvement in the I4 with the 3.5L staying the same. Notice how the two overlap
  • alpha01alpha01 Member Posts: 4,747
Good point. That said, I *EXPECT* that Toyota will improve the current 2.4L by adding Dual VVT, this seems like a necessary improvement to keep up with performance and fuel efficiency of the competition.

FWIW, under the OLD, non-certified SAE method, the Gen 4 Camry in '01 rated at 136 hp, and the Gen 5 Camry for '02 jumped to 157. (Both of those figures were inflated by about 6 or so horses, I estimate)

can anybody provide true gas mileage on the new Camry V6 engine vs. what's advertised by Toyota? I am buying one soon and want to get an idea of what to really expect.

    Thanks

My XLE V6 got around 24MPG with Local/Highway mixed. A tank of gas (92 Premiun) could get you close to 400 miles. I think it should be able to get 30 MPG on a long highway trip.
  • alpha01alpha01 Member Posts: 4,747
    Is this an '07?

How do you measure, using the computer or by hand? On my Sienna '04 the build-in computer is optimistic in comparison to manual calculations. The level of optimism varies - I've observed between .5 to 2 MPG differences.
  • wtliao321wtliao321 Member Posts: 35
Yes, 07 Camry XLE V6. it just pass break-in period and has 1K miles now. I believe after break-in period, the MPG number will be better.
  • wtliao321wtliao321 Member Posts: 35
Computer. I will fill up the tank tonight to calculate MPG by hand and will tell you both number (Computer and by-hand) later.
  • lmacmillmacmil Member Posts: 1,758
It will be highly dependant on your driving style. On my '05 3.3 liter I generally get only about 26 mpg at 75 mph (it's rated at 28 hwy). I'm sure if I slowed to 70, it would increase a couple mpg. In the winter in strictly city driving, I'm averaging about 18. In the summer it was 20-21. All numbers based on dividing miles driven by gallons purchased. On our Highlander, the trip computer is 1 mpg too high.
  • captain2captain2 Member Posts: 3,971
from an Avalon owner - forget mileage stats on the old 3 and 3.3 engines - along with the 70 hp your mileage will improve. My Avalon, 27 mpg overall, 70% highway - same engine and ratings as what's in the Camry. Straight highway at 60-65mph low to mid 30's, straight city can be below 20.

LOOK UP THE AVALON 05 ON THE RESEARCH SECTION,READ THE
OWNERS REVIEWS,(THERE ARE HUNDREDS),THE HIGHWAY AVERAGE
SEEMS TO BE ANYWHERE FROM 28 TO 34.
  • bigd58bigd58 Member Posts: 39
For those who've tested the LE & XLE: Is there a appreciable difference in the ride between those two? I had heard the XLE was the softest of all. I was considering the SE but I think the stiffer suspension may prove tiresome over the long haul.
  • jaxs1jaxs1 Member Posts: 2,697
Look at the city mileage also.
    16-18 is the norm.
  • calhoun213calhoun213 Member Posts: 10
A local Toyota dealer is selling the 2006 Avalon for an out the door price of $24,099 (not including tax). Suddenly there is not much difference in price between a Avalon and Camry with the V6. I have not driven the Avalon and would appreciate comments from those of you that have driven both of them, is the driving experience that much different?

I am surprised and disappointed that the Passat and Altima were not present to show their wares. That is unfortunate.

I guess the Passat broke down on the way to the test ...
  • kdhspyderkdhspyder Member Posts: 7,160
I 'guesstimated' downward the old 136 engine to ~125 and then the new 2.4L which as you noted came out as 157 but was adjusted downward to ~150.

    Rough estimate on the 2.2L.
  • tuffytuffy Member Posts: 63
You got a great deal on an even greater car! Did you get the 4 or 6 cylinder and what color? Be sure and write back to let everyone know how you like it! We will look for your review weekly!
  • fsowirlesfsowirles Member Posts: 195
Haha, now that's funny. I don't care who you are.
  • tuffytuffy Member Posts: 63
How much extra HP or MPG would dual VVTI bring to the current 4 cylinder? Think in might be a 2009 refresh enhancement? Hopefully, it will come sooner like 2008!
  • tuffytuffy Member Posts: 63
Why are you using premium fuelin the 6 cylinder? It doesn't call for it in the manual does it?
