The $6,500 difference in price makes it relatively easy to do better with your own financing.

For example, if you financed 100% of the $47500 at .9% for 60 months, you'd pay about $810 per month.

Financing 100% of $41000 at 5.75% for 60 months would get you a monthly payment of about $788.

This of course assumes you could get the 5.75%, and my loan calculator didn't go kerflooey.

I am in the market for an M35 with the following options:

    Platinum Graphite + Graphite Interior
    Tech Package.
    Sports Package
    Spoiler + Tint

    MSRP of $50180.

Im thinking of offering Driveout of $40k. Im in the DFW area. Asking houston/dallas/infiniti dealers for their best price.

    What do yal think?
  • SouthFla1SouthFla1 Member Posts: 17
It seems individuals are getting up to $12,000 off MSRP with various packages.
Can I expect a similar discount on a base RWD M35 without any options? Given the MSRP is 44,715, is it reasonable to shoot for about $32,715 plus tax, tag? I live in South Florida.
  • redline122redline122 Member Posts: 67
It's not a matter of "expecting" to get $12K off MSRP... you have to ask for it. ;)

If you are eyeing an '08 M35, I don't think an offer of $32,715 is unreasonable. How many M35's are collecting dust in the area you are going to buy in?
  • SouthFla1SouthFla1 Member Posts: 17
The two dealers I checked have 3 and 4 '08 M35 base models with only splash guards as options.
  • mltsurgermltsurger Member Posts: 102
I am seeing 11,400 off MSRP with alot of options.I thimk 12,000 is the best offer.I however am going to wait until the end of the month and see if they are motivated by year end sales.

I think this dealership is full of BS. The salesman is telling me that they can not change an advertised Infiniti lease special cause the don't make money on the deal. He says he gets as a commission $100 no matter what the terms of the deal is. I then ask him about the purchase price incentives and ask him to price me a M35 and an M45. he says they only 3 35s on the lot, and not too many more coming and he says tere are only 4 M45s anywhere in the South East region.Unless they give me a great offer on the 35, I think this local dealership is for the birds.

    Any thoughts?

What color combinations and styles did they have left?

    MSRP: $50180
    Liquid Platinum
    Tech Package
    Sports Package
    Trunk Mat
    Spoiler
    Tint
    Dealer #1 Drive-out offer : $41989
    Dealer #2 Drive-out offer : $41500

Im happy with these prices but i want $41k..
What do yal think? Can i go lower?
  • redline122redline122 Member Posts: 67
    Alvin,
You would be happy about $41 even - if the dealership has any sensibilities... they won't muck about the number all so much and give you the $500 (or something in between $41.5 and $41even).

Were these the dealers first offer to you? If so, I am sure you can continue to counter with $41K even or even less - so that they come up to $41 even.
  • alvinmathew88alvinmathew88 Member Posts: 14
So wait are you saying they will or wont budge?

    $41,500 is a response from Dealer # 2 to Dealer # 1's price.

Dealer # 1's price is response from my counter offer.

    Im waiting for response from Dealer's # 3 and # 4.

Is 41k even a good deal?
  • gator5000egator5000e Member Posts: 90
At least you have some competition. Do your offers include tax, tag, license, etc? My Orlando dealer told me $43,175 out the door (including tax, tag, dealer prep fees and title included) take it or leave it. I guess the price of the car is $39,987 before TTT and dealer fees. So maybe it's not a bad deal after all.
  • alvinmathew88alvinmathew88 Member Posts: 14
It included TTL. Have to threatened to shop elsewhere in Florida?
  • keithandkeithand Member Posts: 10
    I live in Orlando.

I emailed all Infiniti dealers in FL until I could find white/wheat on a base 08 M35.
Sarasota offered the best price first then the GM renigged on the price by 1K. When I told them what they could do with it they came back down.

By that time I found a car in Tampa and they met the price and included the spoiler, wheel locks, splash guards, trunk mat and nitrogen filled tires (scam).

Base M35's are getting harder to find especially with wheat interiors. Love the car.

I and some of my friends have found that in Orlando it is best to leave the area when shopping.
  • gator5000egator5000e Member Posts: 90
Thanks, I will try that. I think the 2008 M35s are getting a bit scarce. I wish my lease had run out 3 months ago.

I'd like to know what others think of my lease quote on an '08 Infiniti m35x(AWD). The major option is tech pkge, also has splashguards and trunk mat.

    MSRP = $50085
    Lease int rate = 0.02%
$1400 down which includes 1st mo. lease payment
    39 mos @ 10K miles/yr
Monthly payment = $550/mo (includes 9% sales tax)

Is this a good deal, or should I expect to do better?

    Thank you in advance.

    Nice price..

What dealerchip did you bye from.
I wood like to get the same deel you did.
    I live in Houston.

Have fun in your awsome car...

    North Carolina

White/Wheat M35 base RWD, no tech package. Only options are mud guards and trunk mat.

    Sticker = $44,985.
    Negotiated price = $33,985

Does anyone have any opinions on whether this is a good deal or not? I know I'd still lose money versus finding a slightly used '08 model, but this seems not to be a bad deal on a new car.

    Any thoughts about this?

11,000 off or 25% is really a good deal. Why do people ask regarding Tax and title when these are different in each state. Why can't we just compare cash price and everyone can figure their own Tax and title depending where they live. The other consideration is prep fees ,with the economy where it is I have related to the dealers that I am not paying.A deal breaker. What are they going to say!
  • ocimocim Member Posts: 45
Sziggy - Looks like you got a FANTASTIC deal. That is over 12k off of MSRP. Can you tell me the name of the dealer and what city it is located in. I live in the Pittsburgh area but would be willing to travel 600 miles to get a good deal. I have been beating my self up over which M AWD I want to purchase. I have read so many posts about the M35x's engine noise due to high revs at highway speeds. How has you experience been so far? Do you find the car noisy at highway speeds?

I was also debating about purchasing a slightly used 2008 M45 X (since I do not think it has the high rev issue). There seems to be a lot of good deals out there on these but it seems to get horrible fuel economy. The M35X is bad enough. I was also considering a 2009 M35X hoping that the increase in HP may have allowed the manufacturer to change the 5th gear ratio to rev a little lower.
  • keithandkeithand Member Posts: 10
IMO engine and tire noise is not an issue and car is smooth. Previously owned Lexus GS 430.

I have only driven 600 miles and city is 15; hwy is 21. Combined I got 18.

So if I drive 10k mile annually and another car averages 5 mpg better than I will buy an extra 100 gallons of gas a year. This car is worth it. Sure I could have done an Avalon or ES (better mpg) but at 55 I consider myself to young for those.

Handles much the same and for a lot less $$.

Is the car perfect; no. I had to raise the xenons up, the wood trim on both front doors is coming off and will need replacing. That part is upsetting.

Overall get it you won't be sorry

My dealer that leased my last M35x has offered me 12,000 off an 08 that lists for 50,034.00
I have to think that with 4000 for loyalty and 6000 for last years model, this is still a good deal? I will be buying this time instead of leasing.
does this sound reasonable? thanks. I just hope it's not a special Pink version or something.
  • ocimocim Member Posts: 45
Thanks for your feedback. I am surprised about the wood trim. The M35 has just about be best reliability record of any car that I have seen on CR. I guess no car is 100% trouble free.
  • ocimocim Member Posts: 45
$12,000 off of MSRP. That is great. Is this the model with the NAV system? Also, can you tell me the name of the dealer and the city and state where the dealer is located.

    Thx

OK, now the catch...it's his manager's car with 6000 mile on it. Desert Shadow / Graphite...Technology pkg. Splash guards Trunk mat $41,155 out the door. Now is it a good deal?
  • alvinmathew88alvinmathew88 Member Posts: 14
i think you can do so much better. They will probably tell you they depreciate the car by how long its out, and not by mileage. Probably something like $500 a month or something. I think you are paying too much. I got a car m35 (msrp of $50180) with only 35 miles for $41250 OTD. So i know you can definitely get a better deal. just my two cents.
  • redline122redline122 Member Posts: 67
    Alvin,
It's soo nice seeing the helped becoming the helping. :)

    Tennnnn,
Alvin is right. Go to a blue book website, and run the retail/wholesale/private party value calculators with the stats of the vehicle in question. I would rub it in the dealer's face that the manager probably can't afford the gas in this vehicle as it drinks gas like it's going out of fashion and the dealerships can't afford to run these vehicles! LOL. I would go so far as to ask what the manager is driving RIGHT NOW. ;) If it's a smaller, more economical car, then you know times are getting tougher for the dealer. I know, I know...it sounds arrogant, but sometimes you just have to be - especially when you are holding the money and they are holding the "rapidly-depreciating asset".
  • alvinmathew88alvinmathew88 Member Posts: 14
I took the liberty of running the numbers for you on KBB website and even with Tech Package and some verbatim items (Nav, single disc mp3, climate control seats, etc) at suggest retail value is $32225 @ excellent condition. It might vary due to location, but not by much. You should try and work it around number or be close to it. I just saved you 8k.. The dealer would just make pure profit off you with 40k driveout price, and they know the car is depreciating in value for every mile on that car, but why should you have to pay for their depreciation. I say stick it to them!
  • chacko22chacko22 Member Posts: 8
Not a good deal at all. I recently purchased that same color vehicle with the same options, brand new with 21 miles on it, and tinted windows for $39,700 drive-out. I'd stick with the advice from alvin and redline. They seem to be very knowledgeable and are providing some very good information.
  • ocimocim Member Posts: 45
39,700 drive out? Does this include taxes? Could you please tell me what dealer this is and location. The dealer here is Pittsburgh just does not seem to be offering these kind of deals. As I said in a previous post I would be willing do drive a long distance to get the kind of deals I am reading about here.
  • alvinmathew88alvinmathew88 Member Posts: 14
Just fyi, driveout generally reference all in price, which includes TTL. I got mine from Sewell, they still have a bunch of m35s in stock, i went to their storage garage and they have about 17 or 18 of them with good options and decent color schemes.
  • gator5000egator5000e Member Posts: 90
Wow, my local dealer says his best offer is $43+, including TTL and other fees. It's nice to have competition.
  • alvinmathew88alvinmathew88 Member Posts: 14
What options are included in that price? Gator, would you consider buying out of state? If so, i think you would be saving big money. Its only 800-1k to transport a car. Or most dealers wont mind picking you up from the airport, and letting you drive away with it. I dont know how Tax and Title would with work since you reside in a different state and purchasing in a different state.

    http://thenewcartool.com/

This is a good calculator to see what price you should be paying, similar to TMV, but slightly lower. I think 500 to $1k over that price is generally acceptable.

Holdback on infinitis are 1%, and current rebates are 6000 and market support is 1500.
  • gator5000egator5000e Member Posts: 90
Here is the breakdown off the work sheet I was given:

    2008 M35
    Retail Value $48,335.00
    Savings $8,348.00
    Rebate 0.00
    Adjusted Sale Price $39,987.00
    Admin Fees $499.00
    Sales Sub Total $40,486
    Tax $2,454.16
    Tire, Batt, Lemon $8.89
    Tag Fee $224.00

    Net Sales Price $43,173.05

    Vehicle Configuration

    Auto
    Nav Tech Package $3,350
    Splash Guards $105
    Freight $815

This is from the same guy who tells me that they have NO room to move off the national lease deal. It's a take it or leave it deal as set forth on the web site.

    I appreciate your thoughts.
  • redline122redline122 Member Posts: 67
    Then leave it... ;)

Those admin fees are just pure profit... sure they deserve something there but not $500 worth!

Leave it... and I'm sure those admin fees will get on a post-xmas diet real quick. ;)

I am considering purchasing a used 2008 M35X with Tech Package and Advanced Tech Packages from a Lexus dealer in Maryland. The car has only 5K on the odometer. The dealer asking price was originally $39.5K and has recently dropped the price down to 37.5K. I thought that this was a good deal until I checked Kelly Blue book prices. KBB retail value for the car is $33,315, the trade in value is $28,075 and private party value is $30,515.

According to KBB, the retail value is generally the starting point for negotiation between a consumer and a dealer.

I'd appreciate some thoughts as to what my target purchase price should be. I feel if I offer something below the $33K the dealer may think that I am not a serious customer. I am wondering if KBB may have a mistake in their numbers. I mean this is a roughly 53K car. How could it have lost this much value in such a short time period.

By contrast, the NADA retail value seems to be quite a bit higher at $37,625. Although, I believe the last time I traded in a car the dealer used the KBB values. Does anybody know the difference between these two valuation sources?

I know there are a lot of folks out there with good negotiation skills so I would appreciate any advice anyone wants to offer. Also, can a certified Infiniti be sold by a dealer other than Infiniti?

    Thx
  • ghstudioghstudio Member Posts: 972
I believe a certified infiniti with the 100K warranty can only be sold by an infiniti dealer. Of course anyone can "certify" anything...but if you want the infiniti program, you have to buy from infiniti.

All cars lose a significant amount when you drive them out the door....so sometimes buying a recent used car is a good deal. I would be wary of this one though....check the carfax (don't take the dealer's word on damage).

Ask the dealer what the trade in value is of an 08 M35x...have them check their computer and bring you the printed output. They do not use either of these, most use a system tied to the auto auctions directly. Then offer them about $500 more than that price. You'll be much closer to $28 than you will be to $37.5.

A week ago, I checked a trade in, the dealer told me that KBB and Edmunds trade in values were way high.....and I was trying to trade an 06 Honda Accord VV6 in perfect condition. Based on that, I would guess that the real trade in price for the M35x will be closer to $26K.

    Good luck.
  • redline122redline122 Member Posts: 67
    ghstudio,
Unfortunately what the dealer sells a previously-owned car for is almost always priced to close as used-retail, whereas (in your case, the Honda) they will low ball the heck out of it at the lowest of wholesale values.

    ocim,
You can definitely go lower on the price of the high 30's on a "used" M35x.
  • traindrivertraindriver Member Posts: 328
There's still $7500 dealer cash listed on an 08 thru 1/5/08. It doesn't look like they are giving you much of a dealership discount.
  • ocimocim Member Posts: 45
I think I may pass on the M35X from the Lexus dealer. The car fax report does not seem to have anything bad in it, but I am still a little wary. I found a couple of other 2008 M35X (Tech Package) that are certified vehicles sold at Infiniti dealers and both have less than 5K miles. One dealer's asking price is $38,900 and the other $41, 500. Again, these asking prices are substantially higher the the KBB retail value of approximately $33K. In fact, I have searched many cars and they all seem to be priced well above the KBB retail. I think by advertising prices far above the KBB retail could potentially keep consumers away. I for one get the impression that dealers are not even interested in selling these cars unless they get prices substantially over the KBB retail. It seems that I should not be paying more than around 33-34K for a 2008 M35X (tech), but how do you get the dealer to drop his price by 5 - 8K? I am starting to get frustrated.
  • jbr613jbr613 Member Posts: 3
I have a OTD price of $41,450 for an '08 m35X w/Tech, Xenon, cargo mat & splash guards (MSRP = $50,885). That includes tax of about $2,330. There aren't too many left in my area (New England). Is this a reasonable deal?
