1993 me had something like this as a dream car - Looks to be sitting too low, which might not bode well. Looks nice otherwise, I think this might have been the last model year of MB sold here with a mechanical odometer. Rear badge is wrong, no such thing as a car badged "S600C".

Does that model have air ride? Looks blown. But as the seller says, that's nothing. Probably a $20 part.
"Air ride has little leak. Mechanic said just a valve. $20 on parts geek. Simple fix. I would do it but don't have the time, so I'm taking $20 off the price"
Nice stripes. Much more committed than all of the "Seahawks" vehicles I have seen around here.
Odd car this morning: a full blown "Seahawks" Mustang, 2000 or so, with Seahawks logo fully covering the door and rear fender, another covering the rear window, along with a Seattle skyline along the front fender. Far from home, it would seem...
Those don't have the full-on complex airmatic/ABC of 2000+ model year cars, but they do have rear hydro-pneumatic suspension. Assuming the owner didn't lower the car, there's probably a couple grand in repairs there.

Those 1st-gen Toros are pretty durable mechanically. That one needs a paint job and 1970 had the least attractive styling IMO. Money is too high unless it runs well and the interior is mint.

I liked the older ones with the hidden headlights but at least you could get about 370hp from the stock 455 and I bet more if you were willing to dump enough fuel into it.

I must have been thinking about the previous year's engine. What was that a 400cid? I seem to remember guys stacking multiple carbs to get hp up there on those big blocks.

1966 and '67 Toros had a 425. The 455 replaced it in 1968. It was a 425 with a longer stroke. Lots of Olds hobbyists prefer the 425 as it revs better while the 455 had more torque.
I want to run right out and get this one. The project will be to recover your money after the car turns out to be a fantasy.

Maybe it was a prototype for what became the Chevy SSR. I actually kind of like it.
Can't help but like it. A lot of creativity in that. The headlights are painful - look like something off a modern Ford HD pickup. But, still, very creative. Overall, probably one of the better creations posted here!

As usual, fired right up and ran with no issues, the car being so easy to live with in that regard still amazes me. Got a couple compliments and noticed some turned heads. I even got to honk at an errant Highlander who violated a red light directly in front of me. Perfect weather - mostly sunny, not too hot, no more smoke.
"the rear wheels have some camber to them and gives the car an amazing look" What the ....?????, chapter 1 - First time I've seen a damaged suspension listed as a feature....
" I installed a brand new alternator ... Needs an alternator. " What the ...????, chapter 2 - so there is something really wrong.
"the convertible top stopped going down (was told it needs hydraulic fluid in the reservoir). " What the ...????, chapter 3 - a $10 fix, undone? I don't think so. These car were infamous for having tops that could not be make to work right. Co-worker had their 9-3 repurchased by the dealer (lemon law) because of it.
I had to recently read a sale posting for a used Audi R8, that said "salvaged title, but fixed "perfectly" by the body shop." They used the word perfectly to describe the condition. I don't like people that over-use the words "mint" or "perfect" when describing condition. If you find a flaw it throws credibility out the window; so why not just say "very good" condition? Needless to say, they were asking about $20K over what Carmax apparently offered.
I think Carmax had it right.

That Benz is in TOO good of condition; time for a X-Country trip in that car? Maybe TX or FL this time of year?
How many miles are on it?

Yeah, but not too badly done. I mean it's not going to fool anybody but the most naive, but it falls into the "cheap and cheerful" category with a good fun per dollar ratio---presuming you don't hit anything.
I saw one of these with a Chevy 350 advertised for sale but I have no idea what they might have done to the VW "frame" to accomidate that sort of power. Probably nothing.

Funny story. I have a 13 year gap in records, so in that time it was driven about 10K miles, or 110K (5 digit odometer). Hard to tell - the car has a lot of patina, but build quality is still amazing, the body hardware is still sound, and everything opens and closes as it should - the rear doors, having been used less over the years, still close with the most satisfying click. With the mileage story, it is at either roughly 160K or 260K miles.
That's a scary thought - although it just might make it. I cringe with worry when thinking of taking it on long road trips, but I did a couple a few years ago, and the car didn't miss a beat
Mileage is a funny story, I explained it in the post above. It's at either around 160K or 260k mile (even MBs didn't get 6 digit odometers until the 70s).

Probably a $15k paint job, $20k interior and $10k engine work and you'd have a nice daily driver.
