WOW. That is a clean looking VR4. Not a fan of forest green on it but not awful. Pretty sure I’d hate working on it.

I am a big fan of dark green over tan. Lovely color combo. But I never really liked that car. Too bloated.

The green works for me because when the car was new it was the color.

My Aunt had a Shadow ES V6 in that same combo. I always thought it was a sharp looking car. Pretty quick with the Mitsu 3.0 V6 too.

Trouble is, that one is more of a faded dark green over butterscotch pudding.

Yes. The Monaco-based wagon (Sport Suburban?) with the Mercury Marquis-like front end was especially handsome. Some friends of my parents bought a '72 of that style and used it in their bakery business. I used to see it out back at their shop for many years.

That 320i - love the typos, very peaceful wheels, I guess...
    Goofy Bug
I'm not a big fan of most JDM imports, but that Sera's neat
Not a good sign that the '38 Ford couldn't make it out of the garage for decent pics, especially for those $$$
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,415
Jumper cable on the seat of the E21 is also a good sign. I like those seats though.

38 Ford seller has some other cars listed, my guess is that someone inherited a car collection and is lazy, while at the same time wanting top dollar, which kind of goes hand in hand.

I like the 320i. Could be a good first car for the kids that wants to be the German car kid in HS

    Never knew those Broncos existed
  • texasestexases Member Posts: 11,107
Those Broncos were made by a different company.

    The 320iS is pretty cool.

But, in my experience looking at them, they tend to be rust buckets. Being in Seattle will help, I guess.

My Parents had a Century of that vintage.  Solid car and had a decent amount of power with the 3.1, but I swear my 89 Grand Marquis handled better with less body roll and tire squeal

The GM A-Bodies bring back nightmares from my 83 Ciera "Christine". Worst lemon I ever owned, and that includes the Plymouth! If it had been reliable, I think it would have been a good car for the times though.

I do like that RX-7. Would like it even more if it cost a lot less. And of course, ran.

My parents had 2 Cieras, an 85 and I think a 90. They were OK enough. The 85 was a 4 and the 90 a 6. I remember the 85 going through CV joints. Both cars made it pretty well past 100k with major components intact, but all needed repairs regularly as the miles acumulated

The Bronco by Centurion is my Pick of the Day. Looks like a smoking (diesel) deal!

It's a zoo, a 5 min CL break keeps me sane (luckily around here, enough old odd cars are around so I can find a selection on the first page).

I was thinking the same. If it is a local car, probably not too rusty, and if trucks continue their popularity, maybe worth treating to a light restoration.

The obstacle for me is the cost of having it shipped to Texas and then finding out that the 7.3 is seized. Otherwise I'd be there handing out the $. The other thing is that I already have an E350 Club Wagon and an F150.
    But I do love trucks.

Add me to the list that likes the Centurion

I've developed a slight thing for old trucks too, especially 70s and 80s material. The fancier stuff like the Centurion or various garish period Suburban conversions are entertaining. GM squarebodies have a cult around them now, and I can appreciate their design, and the right Ford or Dodge can also be a handsome rig.

I always wanted a square edged 70's vintage Chevy. Short bed step side. Orange.

I had a 1976 GMC Cheyenne that my boss wanted to get rid of. He made me a deal I couldn't refuse. It was an ugly 3/4 ton camper special. It had the long bed with a camper top and lots of rust. My boss bought it new in Illinois where he lived before moving here. It ran great. After a few years of trying to do rust repairs I sold it.
By that time I had purchased a 1979 GMC shorty van with the 400ci engine and the TH350. Once I had it running and street legal I drove it to from Houston to New Mexico , Houston to South Florida, and many other places closer to home. It was my daily driver for ten years until it spun a bearing.

I would like a square-body '70s GMC short bed Wideside. Like Rocky drove in the Rockford Files.

    Nice looking truck.

When I was a kid, the neighbor behind us had a pristine late run squarebody, blue on blue, that he cherished and must have washed every third day. I remember riding in it , as they had a kid close to my age, and we'd sometimes be able to get a lift to school. It was a fancy model with a velour interior and power options, on those 80s style rally wheels.

I have watched every episode of the Rockford Files at least two times . Rocky's truck was my favorite. I was not very impressed with the Firebird.
  • OscarOscar Member Posts: 63
One of the things that was different on my Cheyenne was that it had bucket seats and a console from the factory.

Not quite as old as Rocky’s truck

Took the old dear out again for the second weekend in a row, early morning - went to the rink for stick and puck at 0600, nice drive with virtually nobody else on the road. Car ran sweet and turn signals worked 100% of the time (!!), also no blowby, but I didn't exceed 50 or so today. The car was a contrast to the showy pickups and bland CUVs so beloved by hoverparents/bulldozer dads/medusa moms filling the lot when I left.

Yeah, those facelift big mouth bass Siennas are scary. Remember when they had the gall to call that box a "swagger wagon"? Ugh

The faux-edgy matte-finished (wrap?) Model X is also special in a bougie eastside kind of way.

Compared to every minivan that was produced up to that point in time, they were a revolution. That particular moniker was somewhat laughable even then, but the design surely reinvigorated interest in Toyota's product, although they never reached the volume of a decade earlier. That aspect reflects the general shift in consumer interest than a black mark on the design, though.

I thought the weird knife blade window Odyssey caught some eyes too, but were just a similar vehicle under the skin, like the Sienna. Was there really some technical revolution behind the swagger wagon, other than a memorably bad ad campaign? The demographic ran to the "not boring!" (but actually very boring) Highlander in droves.

I think most buy Toyota for reliability and long, relatively problem free, life. Toyota can advertise and style as they want, but that is really the image that sells their product.

If you can get over the front ends, the Camry and Avalon in the sportier trim really aren't bad looking cars.

I for one cannot get over those front ends, so no Toyota's for me.

I saw a black on black Avalon Touring at the diner yesterday and thought wow that is pretty nice, then I walked around to the front and remembered how bad it was.

I just don't know why that bottom grille has to be so massive compared to the rest of the other elements.
