Until I read your post I didn't catch the Renault logo seat pattern on the Fuego. Funny because I remember when they were new and weird. But even now there are strange bits and details being pointed out which I'd never noticed before.

By some accounts even a 2 or 3 year old Fuego would be out of commission for weeks waiting for parts which were back ordered and needed to be shipped from France. Apparently there were a lot of fragile aluminum bits and pieces which failed often and cost a fortune to replace. And that was more than 30 years ago when there might have been a few mechanics left willing to work on them if you had the parts!

One recovering Renault owner put it this way: "The Fuego was like owning a $1,600 Ferrari."

I always thought the 61-63 B-O-P compact wagons were kind of neat looking for their time.

Watching this 1973 240Z on Bat and wondering where the bidding will stop in 3 days. Already $43k so far.
Had no idea these things were getting so spensive.

Nice car. But I think at this prices, there are many other things I would like to have. Like this.

I just can't get to like the stock hubcaps (and especially the whitewalls) on that 240Z. And the common slot mags don't look much better to me. Maybe minilite-types?

And I agree, that's crazy money to me.

When I see a Ford/Mercury with that remote radiator fluid reservoir, I'm reminded of when I was checking under the hoods of old Fords at the gas station - the smells of leaking oil and unburned gas...

That Falcon owner sure went to a lot of trouble to put in a fresh 170 with that 2-speed AT...sloooooooow. I assume it's in there, and you don't get it with the engine still in the crate.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,415
I seem to recall my dad's 60 Ford had the same coolant reservoir.

I love that “nova”. My favorite vintage of those.

That Acadian equates to $35K in worthless Canadian dollars, got to be top money for one of them or even more. I don't like the interiors on those right off the bat and this one is worse because the owner has replaced the instrument cluster with something aftermarket.

Parts car. I knew it was BHCC just by the lead pic.
  • stickguystickguy Member Posts: 53,345
same. I scrolled back up to verify. Yup.

Well, assuming parts exist, you could restore it. If you have an unlimited budget and a lot of time. No clue what a fully restored one of those goes for, so I assume that the "can you get there from here?" answer is, no.

They peddle a lot of ratty cars that nobody can sell otherwise, often at 2X to 3X their actual value. I suppose the idea is to find the one uninformed fish and snag him.

I’d take the Silver Caddy or the Fox body.

Wheels on the Black E are beyond gross.

I sold a similarly original Coupe DeVille, '74 IIRC, for my FIL maybe 6-7 years ago. Couldn't get even $5k for it.

I really want an old boat like that again to cruise around in.

Too many other priorities ahead of that, unfortunately

Those are all pretty nice cars in their own way, even the LeBaron, though fixing the interior would not be easy or cheap. I always liked those early 2-door models. While I'm not into low riders, that one is actually pretty tasteful except for the exterior paint on parts of the dash. The only one that fails to interest me is the Benz.

Yeah, looks like the new springs on that SS are wrong, or installed wrong. That 300, big money for NO pics of the new engine...
  • berriberri Member Posts: 10,165
63/64 Chrysler wasn't that popular, so I think that may make the asking price hard to attain. But then there may be someone out there that really wants it due to obscurity I suppose.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,415
300 seller is both optimistic in price and kind of shouty, I can see him now.

Agree with you, don't bring cash when you look at it, it will still be there if you want to look at it again.

I found one 'completed listing' for a '64 300 on Ebay. One bid, $5,000, not bad shape.

He needs to cut the price in about half. Buyers are not going to pay for your motor.

Had the old dear out today (no pics). Ran sweet, didn't notice any blowby, and the turn signals actually worked as they should - for a few minutes, which suggests something is loose rather than broken. What that might be is another story. The fun part was trying to re-install the piece of interior door trim that came loose the last time I drove the car. It's a ~2' long thin wood strip, and it cracked in half horizontally as I was lining up the clip. D'oh. I will try gluing it, but I suspect this is going to be a pain.
