guess I was right when I said Q was probably delayed because he had a loan. It makes sense that it is going to take longer, which is never a good thing when they are slammed with business.

seems reasonable (and shocking!) if the court cut them a little slack, as long as they showed real effort to catch the heck up.

Others have reported that they have had to call their bank to authorize them to give a payoff figure to VW, so it might be more complicated than it seems.

Anything that adds another step to the process can't help.

If they'd just ask me, I can give them access to my online Toyota account and get a payoff quote in 30 secs. Lack of communication and lack of intelligence seems to me to be the cause of delay in all of this.

Very similar to some BS I'm going through at work right now. People are sending me forms to fetch information for them that they could just obtain themselves if they took that same information and plugged it in the proper website. So it is all being done twice by 2 different people. If they used their brains (if they have any), they could easily figure this out for themselves.

I have been a part of some rather large projects in my time. Some go well, some go slowly and haphazardly. Planning helps. Good management helps. Putting people in charge who have experience at large scale efforts, and giving them the resources and the authority they need -- that is the key.

I think VW has half-a____ this from the very beginning. They had a very long time to prepare, and they didn't. Like a kid faced with a tough chore, they put off thinking about it until they could no longer put it off.

Every once in a while, I log into the portal just to see if maybe that has new info for me that has yet to be emailed. Still nothing. However, I now noticed they have a Chat option on the website. Sure, why not? So I clicked it and was immediately disconnected. Tried a few more times and the same thing happened. Guess they launched that without being prepared for it to work as well.

Maybe if the Courts had been more lenient in allowing them to court new business for people giving up their TDI's they'd of had more incentive to provide good customer service.

Of course, it would be funny if they made each of you watch 1 hour of VW advertisements as a condition of receiving your check.

I used to do that, too.... thinking I might miss or delete an email. As nearly as I can tell, the email is generated from updating your account on the website.

I actually (shockingly) just received a call back from a supervisor. They said they can see my offer letter attached to my account and it should be made available to me within 3 business days. Offer letter was for 100% restitution - $33,226.

No, not quite. $21,647.73, and I expected $22,127. A difference of $480. A number of people over on TDIClub have experienced the same thing. But as I was only expecting around $19k when I entered into this deal back in August, I am NOT kicking!

I found a notary, and the document (all 7 pages) has been uploaded. The UPS store is a good place to go, they charge $6. The lady there said I was the 3rd person this week with a VW buyback.

I think everyone here has been figuring their respective profits based upon total cost OTD, not just sale price.

Mine was exactly $600 low. however, given the source of the discrepancies ($500 vehicle side, $100 restitution mileage adjustment), I think that the difference is a mileage issue. As such, I expect the $600 to be added back into the final distribution at the dealership. The person I spoke with said much the same thing (and directed me to their FAQ, which I posted last week), so I'm still hopeful.

I knew my numbers looked off... michaell, add $799 to my costs for shipping the JSW to Louisville from Arizona.

At $6k profit, it's less than everyone else, but I also didn't have to travel anywhere to pick up the car. It was still worth doing.

yeah, with my luck with these things, I would be the one that was left holding the bag when VW ran out of money and went BK on us!

I was off today (my Friday off, a 9/80 schedule) so when I got the email about 3:45, I downloaded and printed the docs, and headed out looking for a notary. The closest bank was BofA, and they turned me down -- only with an account. Next door, Chase, same story. But the lady at Chase was kind enough to point me at a UPS store just down the street. I haven't had to notarize anything for many years, Texas no longer notarizes car title transfers, so I had completely forgotten about UPS.

I'm sure my credit union would have done it for free, but I wasn't about to drive downtown at 4 p.m. on a Friday afternoon.

A further interesting note. The offer letter, which I downloaded in PDF form, has a date at the top of the letter of November 22, 2016. And it showed up in my email on December 9, late in the afternoon. That is roughly 10 or 11 business days.

Well, to be precise, the offer letter didn't show up. The notice that I could download the offer letter showed up.

That's at least the third letter out of our seven with that date. I think they were purposely held back, to give the buyback employees at the dealerships a slow smooth start.

Apparently there is a random audit process for the offer letters after they are generated. Some are held after they are generated to be reviewed before being released - at least that's what the hotline told me yesterday.

So I guess, based on our spreadsheet, it looks like 2-5 biz days between submitting signed offer and getting it validated, yeah?

Yeah, it is pretty fast. I would expect mid-week (~Tuesday?) for you and @28firefighter.

Yeah, it is pretty fast. I would expect mid-week (~Tuesday?) for you and @28firefighter.

I'm still waiting for the physical offer to be sent to me. Should be Tuesday for that. I figure a week once I get the offer signed and returned before I can schedule.
