seems like they might be banging these out in less than the allotted time, so they want to get folks in early to fill in the gaps, and finish the day early. Probably get paid by the return, not the hour!

Seems to be a trend! Mine couldn't have called me early, but I arrived at 1700 (appointment was 1730) just hoping that they didn't really need two hours between 20-minute appointments, and my specialist was thrilled I was there early, as it meant she could go home early, too.

Full amount - $33,226.73. 

Now to wait for the money.

Congrats, Q! I wasn't in any hurry until now. Now, with three cars, and only room for two in the driveway, I am ready for Tuesday to get here so I can get rid of the 3rd car.

Chase payment notification arrived 5 minutes ago. 1-2 business days or less and it should be in my account - my guess is less since its going to a Chase checking account.

My appointment is 4:30 this afternoon. I went through the car last night, removing all of my "stuff". And then took it down to the car wash and gave it a bath. I'm going to miss this car, it has been a very nice daily driver. When and if they get these back out there for sale, I am going to be quite interested.

I washed and waxed twice during the time I had it. But definitely not before returning it.

Henry, if you like the Passat that much, why didn't you just get a gasser? Quite peppy and frugal on gas with the 1.8t engine too.

I still may. The truck is still sitting there in my driveway. Before I bought the Passat TDI (last August), I used to drive the truck on weekends. But in the last 6 months, I have not put 1,000 miles on the truck. The VW dealer made me a very good offer on trading the truck for a 2017 Passat R-Line, back on December 31st. The same dealer where I will be this afternoon for the buy back.

I just may ask them if the same deal is still on the table. Use the new R-Line as a my daily driver, and the T&C as my hauler. I have a lot of junk to haul around when I have a DJ gig, and I sometimes volunteer to carry a bunch of people with me to out of town Meetup events.

And @28firefighter, I only waxed the TDI once in the 6 months that I had it. But it is still beading very nicely, I use the synthetic wax. I just washed it one last time as a sentimental gesture, I guess.

I believe you don't like DSG nearly as much as I do, so for me the Passat 1.8T without DSG feels lackluster. The DSG in the Alltrack helps the 1.8T feel better in my "butt dyno."

Also, the Golf even with AWD might be a tad lighter.

The DSG does not work well in heavy stop and go traffic, and is especially painful on the steep uphill slope entering the parking garage. Out on the road, sure, the DSG is great. Not so much in my daily commute to work downtown.

But I have still enjoyed this Passat TDI. I liked it enough, I often used it on the weekends in preference to my truck.

It does sound like you would enjoy a new Passat TSI, with its conventional 6-speed auto - I like the subtle tweaks they made with the recent facelift, and the R-line is sharp.

Not surprised the VW dealer would make a great deal for you at the time of buyback. When I completed my buyback, there was a (what sounded like) a scripted apology from the buyback coordinator, and then the sales manager came by to ask if I had given thought to a replacement. No doubt they are very motivated to keep you in the brand and their dealership.

Hmmm - maybe there will be a punch later this afternoon?

Henry, I'll admit that I washed mine, too. Well, went through a car wash anyway. I still haven't pulled the photo I took of it buried in snow and debris before I took it to Anchorage. But, suffice to say that it was one crusty looking critter!

I was a little surprised that the sales staff literally ignored me after an initial greeting, to which I responded that I was there for a buyback appointment. The guy said, "oh, okay. She'll be with you in a moment." and went back to his desk. There were three sales people there at desks in the main showroom, and all were just sitting there either browsing the internet or playing games. That was one motivated sales team! LOL

Yeah.. I got almost nothing from the Audi dealer.

The buyback guy introduced me to the dealer ambassador. He seemed very disinterested, so after about 30 seconds of small talk, I took off.

My wife loves the Audi Q5. If he had a CPO unit, we might have been able to do a trade with her X3.. but, I'm not going to beat down his door.

Yeah, the buyback woman took me to the "ambassador" and told him I already bought a car, so he looked at me and said "OK. Bye."

I believe the settlement agreement had language that the VW dealers are not to try and make a sale off the buyback appointments. Now, this is a rule meant to be broken, but it is probably somewhat honored at most dealerships.

Buyback went smoothly. Trading the truck for a new Passat R-Line. They're giving me exactly what @qbrozen quoted for the truck, $24,000, and selling me the Passat for $20,150.
