what package and color combo do they have to order. To the best of my knowledge they can't order cars from a port, they are on what they call a earn and turn You sell they send. They also send what ever car they want.

I ordered a Black with Beige Interior in the Limited Model with no Ultra Package. The Dealer tried to locate one for me at other Dealerships but could not find one. I was told that they had to order it and have it built. I guess I am getting a little impatient now that the warmer weather is finally arriving here in New England and from all the Happy Customers on this forum. Thanks for the replies. jnd17.

The Autoweb site for Hyundai Azera accessories said they are in a national backorder for the OEM part. Maybe 1-2 weeks or more.

    Welcome aboard our 'flagship' discussions.

Delivery??? My request for powder white pearl, beige, ultimate package took 11 weeks.
Vehicle was ordered week of January 9, none could be found in Florida or Georgia. Vehicle was delivered to dealer week of March 20. The vehicle was built February 7 in Korea, the MSRP had our name on it for 'Delivered To' and red stickers on the drivers seat marked 'HOT'.

So, patience is the biggest part of waiting for the vehicle you want. Trust us, the wait is worth the end result.

The dealer manager talks to the area manager who talks to the district manager who talks to his manager, if one is available it will get to the dealer eventually.

Call your local dealer/parts dept. Mud Guards should be in inventory. They run like $29 and change for the front and the same for the rear plus tax.
  • ratledgeratledge Member Posts: 233
Yep - thanks, everyone! I didn't think this one through: if you had to special order one from Korea, you're talking a good bit more time, though not too terribly long: usually 8-10 weeks.

    "My bad"...

For over a month I've been considering the Azera - it is such a great car with lots of features you would never find in other vehicles in the same price range. But last week I drove the Azera (Limited w/Ultimate package) again for about a hour. Then went across the street and drove a '04 Lexus ES 330 on the same route. Went back to the Azera and drove it again. We finally decided on the ES 330. It was the same price as the Azera but I was able to get the pre-owned Lexus warranty.

It was not an easy decision. It was based on CR's continued high rating of the Lexus, the upscale "feel" of the ES. Basically I think we felt we were getting essentially the same car as the Azera but with a likelihood of a far better re-sale and known product. I already notice a couple of things that I like better on the Azera but still very happy with the Lexus.

It's amazing to me that Hyundai has improved their products so much that I was struggling between the two.

"It [current Hyundai engine design practice] has a timing chain that never needs to be replaced."

Oh, boy... For whatever reason the myth persists that timing chains never need replacement. Correction: timing chains can and do wear to the point of failure in service. Yes, timing chains generally have a significantly higher reliability rate than belts, but like ALL other hard moving parts in an engine, they're also subject to wear. When a timing chain lets go, the damage from flailing steel in a confined space can be every bit as catastrophic (and then some) as that from a broken timing belt to the engine. If the bunched-up chain locks the camshafts, pistons and valves can be victims, too. Even before a timing chain tanks, the autotensioners and chain guides can be a source of trouble. A loose chain can be every bit as disastrous as a broken chain if the chain jumps its track or even if the chain "merely" skips more than several sprocket cogs, throwing the camshaft timing off enough in an interference engine (one in which pistons can contact open valves if the cam timing is incorrect). The particular design of the timing system can have a profound effect on long-term reliability. Some may go several hundred thousand miles. Some may be at risk anytime after 150,000 miles. The ideal, but costly solution, would be an oil sprayed, silent spiral-cut gear train from the crankshaft to the camshafts - typical of racing and large heavy-duty diesel engines, but nearly unheard of in passenger car applications.

Yes, but you got a two-year-old model car, and you can always get the extended warranty for the Azera that goes to 12 years or 120,000 drive-train, 10 years or 100,000 bumper-to-bumper and 10 years roadside service with unlimited miles for about $1000 or so - you can negotiate the price for it with the dealer regardless of what they say. :shades:

If you paid the same price for a two-year-old Lexus you bought part of somebody else's depreciation... ;)

We finally decided on the ES 330.

Congratulations on your new car. I have a relative that owns an ES series Lexus. Nice car. I'm sure you will enjoy it!

And, yes, it's a very good sign for Hyundai that their cars can compete against the likes of a Lexus. If I understand, Hyundai is going to release a "luxury" rear-wheel drive car soon that will supposedly compete even more with the upper-class brands. We'll see.

"Did anyone figure out what those two oval rubber pieces that came in the license plate mounting kit are for?"

I believe I read on Hyundai WebTech that they're intended to seal a couple of similarly shaped holes on the bottoms of the rocker panels, near the front wheels. (something to do with transport hold-downs, I think - been awhile since I came across mention of these pieces...) If they're what I recall reading about, the rubber pieces are supposed to be installed by the dealer during new-car prep. There was mention of rubbery hole sealers to be installed into the trunk floor sheet metal, too - so if you don't find any empty spots below the rocker panels, you may have to check that area after peeling back the trunk floor mat. (You could also query the service manager about them when you have your first oil change.)

Since I am leasing, I am not planning to add anything else to my Azera. I got the windows tinted and I added mud guards. My Azera is now complete until my lease ends in 26 months.

Speaking of leasing . . . I am a few days from the one month mark and I have yet to receive ANYTHING from Hyundai. No survey, no lease bill, no welcome . . . nothing. My next payment should be due and yet I have received nothing.

    Should I just wait?

Isn't there a limiter for the speed? (143 mph) - what kind of gas mileage? :P

    Pearl white - $200 premium?

I thought the pearl white was the only "white" available...

I did notice in the Lexus catalogue they have a custom Black Diamond paint - you hold the booklet in the sunlight and there are lie whole spectrum.

I wonder if the new planned Hyundai will have some special color like this.

Thank you so much, kinda figured they were plugs for something but there are so many possibilities. :confuse:
I actually showed them to the dealer service manager, he had no idea.
At the current rate my first oil change will be in Sept. so I think I'll take care of this now that I know where to look. :shades:

I was told by the salesperson who did my lease that once I receive papers, I will get an account number and with that, I could organize my account online and pay monthly there. I specifically asked about paying online and was told "absolutely."
  • adityagadityag Member Posts: 19
I had called up Hyundai to ask abt the online payments. Currently they have an online payment system only for the people who have taken a loan from HMFC. They hope that they ll have 1 soon for lease payments but dont have any estimated date yet.

Just watch out for the Max Speed rating of the tires, I'm pretty sure the "V" rating is around the 140mph mark....but I might be wrong.
  • shawalshawal Member Posts: 38
Just received the April edition of National Geographic and was surprised to see a full page advert for the Azera and in the front pages of the magazine too.
  • bozemanbozeman Member Posts: 20
It's 150mph for V rating, but you need to increase tire pressure by 5lbs, according to the Michelin website.

Don't feel bad, that's the color option I picked when I got mine (limited w/premium package). It took the dealer 3 days to find the model I wanted. They had one at a dealer about 45 miles away. They tried to push a blue one with the gray interior on me...I'm so glad I waited!

I don't know about them ordering and building one, as far as I've heard from dealers...they ship what they ship and they are equipped with packages and each dealer gets so many of each one.

Either they are hoping they get one in as you ordered or they are able to find one at a nearby dealer for you.

    Good luck!

I stopped by the dealership yesterday and talked with the sales manager. He pulled out some sort of invoice and again told me that the car had been special ordered and it was being made in Korea. It looks like about another two weeks for delivery. He also stated that he would try and locate one at other locations seeing that six weeks had passed and that maybe one of the other dealerships had received one like I ordered. Time will tell :confuse:

Looks great! Where'd you get it and how much? Is there a LED brake lamp in it? Can it be ordered painted? It's really sharp.

That looks very nice. Now, all you need is to get those windows tinted. Sharp car. I would like to get a spoiler except that I don't own the car (leasing) so it doesn't make sense to add value to somebody else's car. :(
  • shawalshawal Member Posts: 38
Thanks, I really like it....but it took 2 days to talk myself into drilling those holes.

I got it off ebay for $189 and it comes painted, you quote the paint code.

It comes with instructions and all sorts of goodies to fit it.

Yes, there is a LED brake light, that's tomorows job, as the sun was fading.

As for tinting, that is being done next week...65% light black all round and 55% "Clear" on the front....the %'s are amount of heat reduction and it really does work.

Also I'm getting 5 spoke 18" rims and 245/45 tires. Here the car comes with Hankook tires and are noisy with dubious handling.

    Here's too a great car.

a.) If you have the account # you most certainly can hook up Hyundai Financial to your OWN payment system (i.e. your bank or Amex etc.) as they will send out the payment usually in a check anyway on your behalf. If they check with Hyundai and find out that Hyundai can accept electronic from them, then they will send that way. The confusion on the message board is probably with respect to Hyundai being able to initiate a funds transfer from your bank (direct debit)....which they cannot for a lease.
b.) Could it be that your first payment was included in your downpayment on the lease?

Things I am waiting for on the 2007 model before I buy Azera:

    1. Fix whatever went wrong on the crash test
    2. Backup sensors
    3. Navigation unit
    4. Regular radio antenna

They are "emotorcons" (our version of "smileys") and if you are seeing the text and not the actual icons themselves, your profile settings are set to not show them. If you want to see them, go to Preferences (on the left side of the page) and put a check in the "Show Emotorcons" setting.

You will then see them when folks use them, and you'll see the entire array just below the post box.

Does anyone have an idea of how to remove tree sap from the painted surfaces, windows, chrome, other trim without leaving a mark, scratch, dull spot?

Try Rain-X glass cleaner concentrate mixed into a spray bottle per instructions on package. Wash vehicle first, spray Rain-X onto a 'soft' cotton free cloth. Try it on a window first, will give you an idea of how easily it removes the sap. Once you get a feel for it try a spot on the painted surface. A haze from the cleaner may be left behind, a clean cotton free cloth, lightly damp, works well.
Obviously, everyone will have a little different way of doing this, do what works best for you. :)

Can someone give me an idea of how many miles or how much time it takes for the Azera to run out of gas once we notice that it is really low?

I had never left it go below 1/2 tank but there will be a time that I will have to take that chance and I would like to know what to expect then.

    Thanks
    Edgar
  • jim101jim101 Member Posts: 252
Let it run down to under 1/8, near empty, took 17.8 gals to fill out of 19 gals.
Best bet, look for a station before getting down to 1/4.

For those of you contemplating the purchase of an Azera, I have been reading the various forums on the Avalon, Acura, and recently the Azera. For the longest time I have been interested in the Avalon, but after reading about some of the issues with transmission hesitation, fit and finish (although I suspect such instances were actually few and far between), I happened upon the Azera at a car show in our area, I was very impressed with how it compared with the Avalon. I was so impressed that it changed my opinion of what car I was going to purchase. I then began to consider the Azera as a viable contender. I test drove an SE model and enjoyed the smooth power of the vehicle. That experience was the deciding factor. I went through with the purchase of the Azera (Limited w/ Ultimate package) and have enjoyed the car very much in the week I have owned it. I purchased the car through my credit union (I will expound upon my experience in that particular forum at a later date) which was a very painless experience. I have been following this forum for a few months and appreciated all of the feedback on this site. I am very happy with the Azera, it is so quiet and the power is smooth and impressive. If you are looking for a new vehicle and want to get a great value for your money I would highly recommend the Azera. I was the owner of an American vehicle and while it served my purposes at the time, after awhile I found that the engineering was such that many things on that vehicle were wearing out as the warranty expired. My initial take on quality of the Azera is impressive, the fit and finish are far superior to that of my American vehicle (Brand name rhymes with "HEAVY"). My wife and I just took our Azera for its first long drive and we got close to 25 MPG. Our first 200 miles (city driving) were at 19 MPG. My initial impressions are that we will get decent gas mileage when the car gets "broken in". I had a large car and it got between 16 and 26 MPG, I suspect our Azera will beat it by at least 2 to 3 MPG, with significantly better horsepower, smoothness, and handling. So far I am very satisfied with the Azera. Keep up the great comments on this forum, it has helped me with this purchase. I'll report back periodically with my experiences, so far so good!

I am also enjoying my Azera. Very nice vehicle. Gas mileage is a little on the low side and I have the feeling that it won't get much better. I have 1300 miles on the car and the MPG is about the same as when I bought it. I'm not sure I'm sold on "when the engine is broken in, it will get better" thing.

I get about 17 MPG city, 26 highway with about 21 combined, and that's driving very easy on the pedal.

I have been watching both the Azera and Sonata message boards. There seems to be some talk about Nav/Bluetooth beeing available on the Sonata in the 2007. Anyone know where the rumors come from, and would it not make sense to introduce those features on your upscale model first? To have those features on the Azera would really bring it up to speed and past much of its competition as far as bells and whistles are concerned.
  • backybacky Member Posts: 18,949
The rumors come from people interested in the Sonata who would like a nav system and/or Bluetooth. I agree with you that it makes little sense to offer nav on the Sonata here in the States before it is offered on Hyundai's flagship.
  • jim101jim101 Member Posts: 252
Just checked the HMUSA sight again, build your own, selected the Azera Limited, powder white pearl (NO CHARGE, NADA, ZIP, FREEBEE), with ultimate package. MSRP $29,995 and $30,075 with sun visor.

I mention this because I've read about folks paying up to $200.00 for powder white pearl paint, why??? :confuse:
  • allmet33allmet33 Member Posts: 3,557
Hate to say this, but the Sonata is already offered with a Nav system. Alexandria Hyundai (VA) offers a nav/dvd entertainment system and I believe it's a $1500 option.

Speaking with a salesman at the same dealership, the '07 Azera will have nav & bluetooth as the only upgrades over the '06 model.
  • snakeweaselsnakeweasel Member Posts: 19,592
Is that factory or a dealer installed option? My guess is its dealer installed.

    2011 Hyundai Sonata, 2014 BMW 428i convertible, 2015 Honda CTX700D

  • backybacky Member Posts: 18,949
Why do you hate to say it?

It must be a dealer-installed option since it is definitely not available yet as a factory option. But it must be fairly easy to pop in, since Sonatas in other markets offer nav as a factory option.
  • floridabob1floridabob1 Member Posts: 1,190
I'm amazed at your fuel consumption. I have been unable to achieve better than 16 mpg city. I have 2300 miles on car.
I live in Florida, therfore no hills to climb.
You must be driving downhill most of the time.
  • floridabob1floridabob1 Member Posts: 1,190
Every auto supply store sells tar and sap remover. About 2 bucks per can.
  • bozemanbozeman Member Posts: 20
If you press the mode button until a screen pops up that says distance to empty, you'll know how far you can drive. I've been driving for 2 days now with the warning gas pump symbol showing and my display says about 30 miles distance to empty. I plan to fill it up at the end of today to check how many gallons it will take and see how much was left in the tank.
  • averigejoeaverigejoe Member Posts: 559
I think that $200.00 charge is for powder white on the Sonata. Check it out.
  • jim101jim101 Member Posts: 252
    Florida Bob,

    We live here also.

My mention of Rain-X was information being shared.

From an environmental standpoint I'd rather have as few chemicals as possible in the home/garage.

Consider though that some cleaners, like tar and sap remover and others may have petroleum based additives. Petroleum is abrasive by nature. Again the forum can buy whichever best suits their needs.

    Enjoy :)
