Don't drive at night - brilliant!!! And your buddy, Ray in the peanut gallery agrees.

You are so welcome.

Yes, how fortunate you are indeed.

I had the same issue at first, but as I got used to the gas pedal, my shifting got smoother because my take-offs were smoother and I learned how to push the pedal enough to accelerate crisply, but not too much to make it shift hard.
As much as the transmission learns you, you have to learn the transmission as well.
Flaps, 101649 or Oct 16, 1949 nailed it.
Smart door locks, we discovered that if you get out of the car or when you walk up to the car and unlock it with the clicker, in either case if you stand within 10' of the car, talking or doing some other chore the car will lock itself without input from the clicker. Has anyone else experienced this?
Cargo tray, if the tray is for keeping pieces of loose stuff contained, go with it. If the tray is for trying to keep groceries and stuff like that from sliding all over the trunk there might be a better way, for some, not for all.
We put in one of the cargo nets from another car. It goes basically from one taillight to the other, in the trunk of course. We picked up three empty boxes from the local store, they measure about 12"x12"x12", 8"x10"x6" and 14"x14"x10" and are held in place by the cargo net, prevents them from sliding all over the trunk. Anywho, grocery bags fit nicely
in the boxes along with a host of other bought or in transit items and we also added a larger box to go between the cargo net and the back of the trunk for other bulkier items.
If we need the space for other things the boxes all fit inside of the other.
Well, it's a thought and the price is right.
Good day
Wamba, I'm eyeballing both cars. What turned the decision for you? I like the room and ride of the Azera, but the mileage and engine of the Accord.
I think our Azera is much more car than the Accord, given the content.
I saw your photos in your Car Space photo album. I have one there also (Don's 2006 Azera). My Azera is also Pearl White.
Your grille without the H logo looks great. Could you tell me where you purchased it?
Would you feel comfortable sharing some other information about the grille, like the cost, what was involved in removing the original grille and installing the new one, if you didn't install it yourself, what was the installation cost, things like that? If not, I understand.
Thanks for anything you might share with me. I'd really like to get one of those grilles.
I have what feels like a rough idle when the car gets up to operating temp. I can feel it through the steering wheel and hear it within the car when the car is at a stop in gear. Tachometer is showing 500 rpm which seems a little low. Can't feel anything when idle is 700 or above.
The other issue is light thumping sound as if I might have a wheel slightly out of ballance.
Both of these issues could be as simple as flashing the ECM and ballancing a tire. Time will tell. What seems evident is that a high percentage of Azera's are being delivered to customers with issues which should have been detected pre-delivery. I suspect that my selling dealer probably spent more time slapping on their nameplate decal & licence plate holder than servicing the car. Tires had 55psi
I like the car but am beginning to think I should have waited a year. Dealers/service departments don't seem to know much about these cars yet.
I think this never got resolved. IMHO :surprise:
Some posts were removed.
Nice pics.
The grill came from Korea, the OEM that makes the grills for Hyundai.
If you do a search for 'grills' on this forum the results should provide answers to all of your questions and a work instruction if you decide to install yourself, I installed mine.
As I recall, cost, about $100 US, may not be available any longer, try www.studie.com, takes about 90 minutes to install.
We have had ours for six months, no complaints, problems or repairs.
Enjoy and feel free to ask any question.
Jim
Tires come over inflated, shipping issue, dealers often overlook, forget to lower pressure and yes they hurry to deliver vehicle. If anythings wrong, you'll bring it back is the thought process.
Idle, tire balance, four wheel alignment and any other adjustments are 'free' for 12/12,000. Dealers will charge if you are willing to pay for these adjustments.
I agree, the dealerships are still in a learning curve. You may have to try the various dealers in your area to find the best service.
Enjoy,
Jim
<img src="http://www.dreamka4u.com/shop_image/TG_chrome_grill_without_H_logo_0(1).jpg" oh and its $110 shipped
Thanks for the info.
I found your post where you explained how to instal the grill. That's the kind of thing I was looking for.
Don
Just curious, do you own an Azera or have you ever driven one?
The "tire thump" I was hearing was determined to be caused by (3) of my 4 Michelin tires being defective. When I first took the car in to a Michelin tire dealer I was told that all was normal after taking the car around the block.
I then paid $130. to have all four wheels/tires "Road Forced/Matched Balanced" by an independent tire dealer. This test confirmed that three of the four tires exceeded Michelins specifications.
After being faxed a copy of the print-out of the test results by the same Michelin Dealer that a day earlier had said all was "normal" Michelin authorized the replacement of the three defective tires.
Replacement of the 3 tires resolved my tire thump issue and Michelin has agreed to reimburse me the $130 I had to spend to "prove" the tires were defective.
My second issue which I consider to be a "rough idle" when the car gets up to operating temp has been deemed to be "normal" by my local Hyundai dealer. They say "no codes" pop up when they hook the car up to the scanner and that there has been no ECM flash released for the Azera. I'm told that there is no manual idle adjustment for the car.
So, perhaps I am being to critical of my cars perceived "rough idle". What I do know is that before buying the Azera the dealer I bought the car from in Sarasota gave me a new Azera with 11 miles on the odometer to drive for the weekend. I put 100 miles on the car over two days and the tires didn't thump and the idle was smooth.
In conclusion I have not decided to sell my Azera because it idles a little rough.
The Azera is a whole lot of car for the money and Hyundai will wake up and smell the coffee over the next year or so regarding the segment of the market they are attempting to break into with the Azera. If Hyundai wants to position the Azera to compete with Acura, Infinity & Lexus they must address the issue of customer service which is at best "inconsistent" at this point. The two annoying issues with my Azera should have both been caught pre-delivery.
At this point I think the selling dealers see the Azera as sort of an inconvenience to them. They don't sell very many of them (far less than 1% of sales)They are selling most Azera's near dealer cost to get them off the lot so they probably hold more profit margin in a Sonata and sell all they can get.
I am going back to either a Passat or Audi A4. I prefer a car that handles a bit more precisely than the Azera. I am also more confidant that my local Porsche/Audi/VW dealer has a service department that is much more in tune with both the cars they sell & the cars owners.
I too recently purchased an Azera Limited with the Premium package in Pearl White at the end of August. This joins my 2006 Sonata LX6 which I purchased in January. Here is what I see with the Azzy and the dealers. They really don't know all the intricacies of the car. They are still learning. My dealer, which has been most supportive, was not familiar with the Immobilizer and the related Limp Home Mode Option which is programmed with a scanner hooked up to the cars computer under the dash. I brought in the TSB relating to the option, and the shop foreman, who incidentally just returned from 4 days of schooling on the Azera, and I sat in the car and programmed the car. My tires came inflated at 45lbs. and since I had been aware that this is an area that is sometimes overlooked, I bled the tires down to 30lbs. I am on excellent terms with the sales manager, and the service department. I have taken the tack to be "cool" and not get upset and or belligerent and it is working. I have advised the sales manager, during our conversations, how much I enjoy the car and that if they want to sell this model the approach has to be somewhat different than selling an Accent or even an Elantra. I am accustomed to the so called ambiance of an Acura dealer, more upscale, since I had leased 6 Acura TL's over the last dozen years. Purchasing an auto requires knowledge of the product and price and a definite approach. I do remember that the dealer is entitled to make a profit, they are in business for that, but I don't want to be gouged.
My issues, which I consider minor, are the suspensions in both my Azera and Sonata. They are noisier than my Acura TL's and I relate that to them not being quite as sophisticated as yet. I have no other issues and I really don't consider them real issues. I love both cars, and I drive the Sonata mostly and my wife drives the Azera. I do look for any excuse to get behind the wheel of the Azzy and we use it when we are going out together. We are both senior citizens and have switched from leasing to purchase. Hope you will enjoy your car and give dealer/service department a little slack and patience will pay off. Sign up for Hyundai's website used by their service techs at www.hmaservice.com and you can download any TSB's and any other items that are related to your Azera. Here you will find info regarding the Limp Home Mode Option and lock/unlock option which can be programmed into your car
Don, open this link, they have the grill, I'm not sure about the color because I don't know all the color codes.
You can send e-mail, they will reply...$110 US
My car is a black ultimate with grey leather interior. I have discovered the shifttronic and use it almost exclusively now. I can get the rpm's I want and this car jets in a straight line. I wish the suspension was more damped and firm, but it is not. My buddy has an Audi A4 and it handles very well (all wheel drive) but the trade off is a firm ride. Anyway, I may tint the windows next week. I am at over 5000 miles and no problems. Enjoy!

Jim -
Once again, thanks for your help.
Don
ESPECIALLY the rear.
I have Sage Green Azera and have contacted them several times, with no positive results.
Having said that, I plan to lease a 2006 Azera Limited very soon.

If I find out anything positive about a Sage Green Grill I'll let you know.
Don
My wife and I first test drove the sage green Limited. Nice car, but the color didn't do it for us. Ended up with the Pearl White, it just looked better in our eyes. Would have liked to seen the Aubergine, but was not available in our area (being in AZ, light colored cars are the preference).
I agree with jeffal that the LED lighting sets off the rear. The front is nondescript but not objectionable.
When you put the utilization, content and looks together, the Azera is a compelling package!
The front does resemble the Sonata to a degree, but what's wrong with that? Has anyone noticed how similar the front ends of Acuras and Hondas are? The thing I do like is the headlights look like those found on the Infinity FX 35/45's.
I'm sorry...overall styling puts this car in it's own category. You can pull various cars from it such as the Acura TL from the front, the S Class Benz, but...there's nothing on the road that looks like it.
I'm loving it still after 7 months and 16K miles!!!
If you're interested, they are Detata "Rallye" wheels and you can see them up close here Detata
