Hello - Could I get the Residual/MF for the 2017 i3. 10K & 12K in Seattle? Does it matter if it's REX or Trim (Mega/Giga/Tera?) I'm not sure what the best fit is for me there.
.00140 MF and 58%/57% residual for 36 months $7500 lease cash
I'd like to ask a very "broad brush" question as i contemplate a few different offers:
If you have a sales price at invoice or say $500 below on an i3, and a base MF, unless you're dealing wth a shady dealer you are getting a good deal, Yes or No.....or Maybe?

Generally, we suggest 7% off sticker is a good price. If you can get that with the base MF, you're doing well.
I'm in SoCal and this post is a supliment to the discussion of 2017 BMW i3 REX lease offer sheets and options.
PLEASE READ THIS. I want to leave some important information and I also want (need!) your humble advice if possible, about leasing a 2017 i3 REX WITH A $9,500 VOUCHER that can be put toward a new purchase or lease!
Yes, thats nearly $10k cash incentive I've qualified for to use towards a lease, but I don't know how to best leverage it without getting taken by a shady dealer. PLEASE ADVISE. Let me explain.
In searching under evey rock for extra BEV / PHEV incentives in Calfornia, HERE'S WHAT I DISCOVERED...
Through the SCAQMD (South Coast Air Quality Management District) I've qualified for an additional $9,500 incentive/voucher (yes, I said it, AN ADDITIONAL incentive on top of the CA Rebate and the Federal Tax incentive. YOU READ THIS CORRECTLY.
HOW? Simply by salvaging my 2002 polluting Toyota Camry SE... taking it off of the road and being rewarded with a CASH VOUCHER.
I qualified for a $9,500 "Plus" incentive (and maybe you can too If: -- Live in Southern California (even better, the area surrounding the City of Los Angeles) -- Have a late 1990's to earl 2000's vehicle that is smog tested and found to be excessively polluting. -- Have had that vehicle register for two consecutive years in California with a clean pink slip. -- A copy of your filed 2016 taxes and are within a certain income criteria.
IT'S A PERFECT STORM OF GOOD FORTUNE AND MAYBE YOU CAN QUALIFY, TOO!
I can answer questions about this amazing (I still can't believe it) incentive, HOWEVER, I need to know how to best leverage this cash voucher into a lease when I know (as I've read hear) that you never put a sizable down payment t on a lease. I have 30 days to get a contract ready for a lease or purchase and I'd like to leverage this $9,500 to find a near ZERO LEASE. If I don't set it up in 30 days, I have to re-register for the incentive.
In addition to the $9,500. -- My state of CA rebate will be $4,500 ($2,500 + $2,000 -- low income incentive) -- I'll receive up to a $2,000 reimbursement from SCAQMD for installing a level 2 charger -- I'll also receive $500 towards the purchase of a level to charger from LA DWP for being a DWP resident.
The final incentive (not including the $7,500 Federal tax incentive) comes to a whopping $16,000 AND I HAVEN'T EVEN STARTED NEGOTIATING A LEASE DEAL YET!
How do I use this extra voucher/cash to get the best levage on a i3 Rex lease? Or, should I buy?
Any impressions and/or advise will be appreciated and I'm happy to put anyone in contact with the SCAQMD for a run at some amazing additional BEV incentives.
I'd still really love for one of the lease gurus here (kyfdx or Michaell) to give me some of your best advice knowing I'm going into a lease negotiation with $10k to use AND how I need to approach the negtiation.
It's plastered over most lease related blogs to NOT but down payments on leases. So, what's the mindset knowing I have this bag of cash?

On the application page, I see the following question:
I wish to purchase a conventional hybrid, plug-in hybrid, or zero-emission vehicle: Yes / No
It doesn't say anything about a lease, but I don't see any language that specifically excludes leasing. You may want to call and ask.
I just got this today and will probably go for it soon. Unfortunately didn't qualify for any discounts or incentives (except for the 7.5k) the MF comes to that after the MSDs.
With everything I've learned on this forum (thanks everyone!) I don't see major wrong with it but I welcome any input

The math is correct on that quote,
However, MF is marked up the max - base is .00140 and .00091 after the 7 MSDs.
Likely costing you $25-30/mo on the payment, before tax.

Also, they gave you a $3705 discount from MSRP.
I'd at least try telling them you'd take the deal, if they give you the base MF. It's worth a shot. $29.70/mo. lower.
hmm. I did notice this was more than usual but he said it fluctuates and this month it was more than the last. kyfdx: yes that sounds like a great idea. Thanks for your input
Re: "Replace Your Ride" program This is my third post here in 24 hours and everyone seems very intelligent and no-nonsense -- I'm thankful for the time and effort of everyone -- but I'm repeating myself unnecessarily as if I'm in a time warp. And I'm goIng to obnoxiously repeat myself again.
Maybe if I'd have just posted one sentence and asked, "... hypothetically, if someone gave you $10k that HAD TO put towards an i3 REX lease, how would you leverage that $10k in a negotiation?"
So, If you don't know how one needs to best proceed on a lease negotiation with an extra $9500, then just say so and I'll seek advice elsewhere. No problem.
This program is helping many people who would otherwise have no opportunity to get into to a BEV or PHEV because they can't afford it. Believe it.
I posted this here to inform people of this REAL opportunity and give hope to folks who don't think they can afford one of these vehicles. I have no doubt someone HERE will apply from the link I've posted and QUALIFY and come back here and ask the same question I'm asking. So let's break it down.
I'm seeking advice on how to proceed to make a lease deal with a guaranteed $9,500 in my back pocket... cash specifically ear marked for a BEV lease.
The website is indeed a bit out of date by not showing newer 2016-17 cars but DONT BE FOOLED or think this is a reason to ignore or blow this off. There are many details that aren't posted on the website because it's over-kill and too much info that case managers more easily answer in a phone conversation.
They're armed and funded with several million dollars in reserve and HIGHLY motivated to find as many polluting cars, get them off of LA streets and replace them with zero or low emission vehicles.
There are conscientious individuals like myself on this string who can qualify for this additional windfall. This incentive is a potential life saver for those who believe in zero emission cars but may be too cash strapped to make this kind of purchase. It's enormous opportunity to get into ZERO / low emission vehicle if your living in SoCal and the clock is ticking for me to negotiate.
I'll state again, I pre-qualify to use a cash voucher in the amount of $9,500 on a new, used, OR ON A LEASE because of an additional incentive I qualify for due to my zip code. It's called a "PLUS" incentive where folks who live in specific zones / neighborhoods in SoCal that are in high risk pollution zones -- places in the city surrounded by major freeways that are high risk smog areas and the SCAQMD is serious about pulling high emitting cars off LA freeways and ARE PAYING HANDSOMELY to "Replace Your Ride."
NOW, take my word for it... it's golden, I qualify and intend to use this like-cash-voucher on a lease for a zero emission vehicle, BUT I haven't read a single word of advice in any blog ANYWHERE that advised how an individual should approach a lease with A GUARANTEED $10k In their back pocket.
The sales manager at some point in my negotiations will be told that I have $10k and I DO NOT INTEND ON GETTING RAKED OVER THE COALS by a dealership who wants to eat up this REAL CASH when if I play it the right may be able to negotiate a three year near zero monthly payment...

There really isn't a choice here - that $10k would have to be used as a cap reduction.
Hello folks, I'm new to leasing and would appreciate feedback on whether this is a good deal or not. 94Ah BEV, 36 months lease.
Thank you in advance.
We are used to seeing a $7500 rebate. Where is the other $1500 coming from? Some sort of state rebate? No sales tax?
$2000 discount is just okay. We've seen 7% or more (about $3500)
Also, if you make the first payment, instead of rolling it in, the payment would drop below $350/mo., and your MSDs would drop to 7 X $350, or $2450, instead of $2800.
I should have mentioned 2500 of the 5200 out of pocket is an additional California rebate and I was going to pay fees up front.
I too was curious about the money factor. I had an additional "build " from them that had .00091 (after MSD's). I wanted another set of eyes to confirm that I wasn't seeing something. I'll be sure to ask about it. I'm assuming that would reduce the monthly payment a fair amount.

Isn't the $2500 a rebate that is mailed to you after the transaction is completed?
The reduced MF from the MSD should shave $25-40/mo off the payment.
If you have cash around, I'd suggest making multiple security deposits and bringing that rate down. Seven MSDs drops the rate to .00091 $46954.50 Gross CAP (selling price + acq.fee/doc fee) $7500 rebate - $656.25 upfront tax = $6834.75 CAP reduction $40,119.75 Net CAP $379.65/mo.+tax = $412.87/mo.
Due at signing $412.87 1st payment $434 license/registration $3150 security deposit (7 X $450) refundable at lease end. -------
$3996.87 due at signing.
Total cost of lease in your post: $16052.22 With MSDs: $15,297.32
$750 savings or about $21/mo. None of those changes will change the dealer's proceeds, so no issue on their end.
------------------------------------------------ If we make a further $500 CAP reduction, we can get the payment down to $398.63/mo, and the seven deposits will drop to $2800 (7 X $400)
In that case, $398.63 $434 $500 CAP reduction $2800 security deposit --------------- $4132.63 due at signing $398.63/mo. for 35 more months
.00140 MF and 58%/57% residual for 36 months $7500 lease cash
For all i3 models.
Is .00140 MF what dealers buy the loan at? One of them is telling me they want to make some money on that to pay the finance people, so the MF to me is .00150 (before MSDs). Is that true or is it BS?

.00140 is the MF for top tier credit. Dealer is allowed to mark it up for extra profit. You have the right to refuse the markup and work with a dealer who will give you the base rate.
I am working on a lease and I haven't broached the topic yet but they have the MF at .00137 after 7 MSDs, which by my calculations indicates they are using a .00186 initial rate.

Which is a .00040 uplift from the base MF - the max allowed.
I've read that BMW will discontinue the multiple security deposit program on May1. Bummer. Anybody know if they will offer something else to sweeten a deal, especially on an i3 ?

Here's a link http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=972966 Apparently the MSD program isn't mentioned on BMW's website so no "official" announcement was issued regarding its demise. However, several client advisors (i.e., salesmen) verified the change in the link.
Hi folks - I have the below deal lined up. Given the somewhat lackluster residuals, I feel it is a bit "overpriced". Let me know thoughts please. Thanks
MSRP of $54,845 (2017 Rex) - Sale price pre incentives w/ $925 acquisition fee - $48,914 (12.5% off msrp) - Total CAP reduction incentives - $9,000 ($7,500 Fed incentive + $1,500 fleet) - Adjusted CAP Cost - $40,504 (includes $590 capped taxes) - MF - .0013 (includes .0002 MF reduction for corp fleet deal) - Drive off (down at signing) - $346 (first payment only) - Sales tax - 7% Monthly payment - $346.08 (includes FL taxes)

24 months, 10k miles per year.
Thanks!
I get the same payment. A dealer can't really adjust their price to make up for the residual set by the bank. Looks pretty cheap for a $55K MSRP vehicle, or even relative to a $40K CAP cost.

MSRP: 49495
And, the MF is .00140, not 1.4 - that makes me suspicious.
Better to limit the up front cash to the first payment, license & registration costs - add everything else into the lease payment.
Therefore, the cap cost would be: $45,950 + $925 + $80 + $963 (tax on $7500) - $7500 (rebate) = $40,418
Your up front cash would be $422 (1st payment) + $434 (license / reg) = $856

Due at signing
$412.87 1st payment
$434 license/registration
$3150 security deposit (7 X $450) refundable at lease end.
-------
$3996.87 due at signing.
Total cost of lease in your post: $16052.22
With MSDs: $15,297.32
$750 savings or about $21/mo.
None of those changes will change the dealer's proceeds, so no issue on their end.
------------------------------------------------
If we make a further $500 CAP reduction, we can get the payment down to $398.63/mo, and the seven deposits will drop to $2800 (7 X $400)
In that case,
$398.63
$434
$500 CAP reduction
$2800 security deposit
---------------
$4132.63 due at signing
$398.63/mo. for 35 more months

I am working on a lease and I haven't broached the topic yet but they have the MF at .00137 after 7 MSDs, which by my calculations indicates they are using a .00186 initial rate.

Apparently the MSD program isn't mentioned on BMW's website so no "official" announcement was issued regarding its demise. However, several client advisors (i.e., salesmen) verified the change in the link.

Thanks!
A dealer can't really adjust their price to make up for the residual set by the bank.
Looks pretty cheap for a $55K MSRP vehicle, or even relative to a $40K CAP cost.
