Also, how does BMW's MSD program work? (i.e., max number of deposits, MF reduction per deposit, etc.)

Apparently, in addition to the federal and state tax credits, SDGE (San Diego) is offering $10K off on 2017 BMW i3's. Not sure if it applies to purchases or leases, but if its the latter, it could be a crazy deal.

The $7500 on purchase is the federal tax credit on this vehicle.
On the lease, BMW offers a $7500 lease credit (as they keep the tax credit).

I understand about the 7500 federal tax credit, but is that not different than the incentive offered by BMW if your company is part of the Fleet program when the i3 is purchased in August (http://www.bmwgroupfleet.com)?

That's interesting, but it seems like a big coincidence that the fleet incentive and the rebate are the same amount. The lease offer has a lot more detail, including the $7500 lease credit + $500 fleet credit.

Hard to know, without checking into it. But, I'd probably take the $8000 of incentives and lease the vehicle, before I'd take $15,000 and buy it (assuming there actually is an extra $7500).

I think they already have. A recent article in Roundel (electronic copy) reported that August sales for BMW were down.....

I am approaching the end of my 24 mo. lease that I was able to secure using the great information here. Finding out the market is much less favorable now (no 7 MSDs to reduce MF, higher MF, higher residuals, etc.). Is the current thinking environment will get better for 2017 i3 with newly designed 2018 showing up fairly soon? I recently got an email from my dealer offering the following:

New car apparently must be a 2017 REx
$10,261 toward new vehicle ($7,500 “market allowance” + $2,761 Preferred Customer Bonus - we know the $7,500 is just the fed rebate which is available to any Joe off the street)
Waive $350 Lease Disposition Fee
Avoid extra payment(s) & xs mileage fees (by turning in early, not by waiving fees)
Must respond by 10.31

All BMW leases have gotten progressively worse throughout 2017, not just the i3.

Unlikely for the numbers to improve, going forward. But, that's just a guess.

I just took delivery of this fully loaded BMW i3 Range Extender from BMW of West Houston for $399/mo with first month’s payment plus $401 due at signing. The $401 covers initial fees, but BMW will credit back $300 on my first lease payment for being a returning lessee who did not use all of the miles on the previous lease. The dealer used tax credits from BMW Financial to waive $2,700 in Texas sales tax (normally 6.25% of sale price).

Hi, I'm looking at a 2017 i3 range extender in california. i have seen mention of a $2000 loyalty program thru 10/31. and it seemed that to qualify for the loyalty bonus, you had to have your previous loan with BMW financial. So, two questions. 1, is there in fact a $2000 loyalty bonus in los angeles for the 2017 i3 range extender. and 2, my current loan is with bmw financial but i drive a mini. would that still qualify for the loyalty bonus? thanks in advance!

Are you in California? Do you have a rebate coming from the state, as well?

Yes, I am in Nothern California so will be able to apply for the $2500 state credit as well!
