2017 Maxima SV with the standard floor mats and splash guards
    $289.00 out of pocket
    $289.00 a month 36/12
    in NJ

    MSRP?
    $35,895
    That's a heck of a payment for a $36K car.

I have to admit, I took at look at the SV on line - pretty well equipped. Just not sure how I feel with about a CVT and 300HP.

@cheneric86, stay away from that deal. That car should lease out at approx $300/mo sign n drive. Shop some other dealers.

Plus I think they have the rebate (lease cash) wrong?

Hey there! This is a great resource. I just got an initial quote from the dealership that doesn't make any sense to me when I run it through the calculator. Their monthly values seem completely off.

Am I doing something wrong? The residual seems high. Thanks in advance for the help!

The residual does seem high. For 36/12, the residual is just 51% of MSRP.

The base MF for Nissan is just .00003, not .00093
So, looks like they are marking up the money factor, but have the residual wrong.

Ask them for a real lease quote with actual detail. Maybe a screenshot of the deal on the computer.

Thanks for the reply! I did just that.

Theoretically, if I could keep the residual high and negotiate the MF closer to base, that would be ideal, right?

I'll post the detailed workup when I get it.

The residual is fixed by the bank. If they got it wrong, they'll correct it in the next quote

Thanks! Looks like they displayed the 24 mo residual. The 36 mo residual is indeed 51% and the sales price that I was plugging in was inclusive of the rebate--I totally fell for the "fake" sales price including the rebate.

Is it appropriate to cite the 0.00003 MF that I'm seeing on this forum to the salesperson or is that frowned upon?

Don't quote the base MF; simply tell them you won't sign a deal where the MF is marked up. They know the base rate.

Hello - I'm looking at a 2017 Nissan Maxima S in the NY area for a 36 month/12k miles per year lease. Can you please tell me what the residual value and money factor are? Furthermore, what is the acquisition/bank fee and are there any incentives available this month? Thank you very much.

This deal I pulled the trigger on at the end of march:
2017 Nissan Maxima Platinum (15k miles per year) Massachusetts 6.25% sales tax
    MSRP: $40,941.8
Agreed upon Price of Vehicle: $39,337.27
Gross Capitalized cost: $40,474.27 (includes $180 title and reg, $595 acquisition fee, $363 doc fee (should have negotiated this down a bit)
    Incentives: $5,425.00
    Adjusted Cap cost: $35,050.27
    Residual: $20,880.32
    MF: .00003
    Down Payment: $420
Monthly Payment: $420 (includes 6.25% mass sales tax)

This is with them installing the exterior ground lighting ($250) and eating a payment not covered by the pull ahead program on my Infiniti QX60 ($547) with no cost to me.

Overall I am very satisfied and this is the best deal I have seen so far on a 2017 platinum.

I am planning to buy Nissan Maxima 2017. Window sticker price is $ 41765. I am resident of GA. In GA we don't have sales tax but we do pay 7% TAVT. I want to lease Nissan Maxima Platinum 2017. I don't want to put any money down. And also i don't want my monthly payment go up more than 400. Dealer Doc fee is 699 and other fee is about 100. What should be the net capitalized cost , residual value, money factor in order to get monthly payment less than 400. My credit score is between 695 to 745. Thank You.

If you want a true 'sign and drive' payment of $400/mo, the cap cost would have to be $35,250 - and that number is not the selling price, but the selling price plus all taxes and fees. Figure around $31-32K selling price, given you pay tax on the whole price in GA, even for a lease.

    I used .00003 and 50% for my calculations - 36/15 numbers.

I am asking this question in accordance with my above previous comment. Is money factor 0.00003 standard or variable for Nissan Maxima 2017 ? If Money factor is variable, Is it based on credit score or based on Nissan's rent change number ? As i have mentioned above my credit score is between 695 to 745. Thank You.

.00003 is the base money factor for Tiers 1-3 credit.
It goes up very quickly, for any lower tier.

Dealer could also markup the money factor for extra profit, but we don't see that often from Nissan dealers.

@brad1748, If you have a 700 FICO, you should get tier 1 no problem. No reason for them to mark up the money factor. There is also $3425 lease cash available. You should be able to get $400/mo sign n drive all day long on that car. Shop it around, A lot of dealers will sell below invoice to meet quotas and get bonuses from Nissan. Email them for their best price BEFORE applying the lease cash.

I asked this question earlier but now my question is with more accurate numbers. I am planning to buy Nissan Maxima 2017. Window sticker price is $ 41835. I am resident of GA. In GA we don't have sales tax but we do pay 7% TAVT. I want to lease Nissan Maxima Platinum 2017. I don't want to put any money down so it will be "sign and drive". Here is the accurate numbers. Selling price 36311, Rebate 3250, Adjusted Price 32111. Dealer Doc fee is 599 and other non tax fee is about 21.So total 36090.70 What should be the net capitalized cost , residual value, money factor and monthly payment. My credit score is between 695 to 745. My dealer said they are not able to give me any numbers on lease monthly payment until they will check my credit application. Thank You.
  • marc1022marc1022 Member Posts: 172
I say shop another dealer. They should be quoting you a lease price based on a tier 1 credit score. If by some reason your score is lower than 700, then they can adjust accordingly. I think they are playing around. You can get your score for free everywhere. The lease cash is $3425, not $ 3250. In addition, a $599 doc fee is ridiculous, I would never pay that.....shop another dealer or dealers. Good luck.

A few additional thoughts to @marc1022 comments.

Nissan incentives could be regional, but check with multiple dealers to see if you get a consistent answer.

7% on the selling price is about $2248, so add that in, as well.

I agree that not quoting you a payment is not right. Again, check with multiple dealers. Only takes one to be transparent with the numbers.

I don't see the acquisition fee for one thing.. also, possible that they are rolling in the first payment? When the numbers don't match, they probably left something out.

Evidently, the "Total" is not the adjusted CAP cost, or they are doing something with the money factor.

Those DOC Fees of $799 are rediculous, that is pure profit for dealers and are negotiable.

Negotiating doc fees is just an exercise in frustration. Find out what they are, before starting negotiations, and then adjust your price accordingly. It's one pile of cash you have to pay, so getting bogged down in how it's allocated is not productive.

I can tell you don't live in FL or GA. It's every dealer, down there. $599 is the new $199.

They won't budge on the Doc fee of $799 so it came down to $29000 for the SV model $380 a month and the SR sale price of $32644 MSRP was $40380 they won't go down from the $32 even though this was a demo car with 3K miles on it I figured they would , but nope so $420 a month. Going to shop other dealers trying to get to $350

$35K is for a Midnight SR with 3000 miles on it GM Demo
$29K is for SV 0 miles. The fees add quite a bit and so far still no budging...
My target price should be mid 300's not sure if that's realistic or not

They won't budge on the Doc fee of $799 so it came down to $29000 for the SV model $380 a month and the SR sale price of $32644 MSRP was $40380 they won't go down from the $32 even though this was a demo car with 3K miles on it I figured they would , but nope so $420 a month. Going to shop other dealers trying to get to $350

Keep us posted - I test drove an SV this afternoon. Impressive car, and a possible replacement for when my Jetta lease is up.

I don't see any reference to the acquisition fee in the attached paperwork.

Your'e absolutely right. I was hung up on the high Doc fee ( they claim they cant touch or reduce this) also the perma plate and tint fees $295 each are unnecessary just dealer add on , non tax fees they claim is the registration , plate etc

Don't frustrate yourself with the doc fee - simply adjust your offer on the selling price to offset it.

Perma plate and tint are garbage fees - maybe worth $30-50.

Went into a Nissan dealer in S. FL. today for a lease. I shopped both a SV and a SR.
    SV MSRP: $35,895
    Cap Cost $29,922
    $500 at signing
    $349/month with tax

    SR MSRP: $40,775
    Cap Cost: $33,386
    $500 at signing
    $389/month with tax

    36mo/12000mi lease term.

These numbers seem fair. Can I do better or should I run back to that dealer?

.00003 and 51% for both trims

Using your prices, I get $324/mo for the SV or $351/mo for the SR, before tax.

Can't see how you can do much better.

I test drove the SV a couple weeks ago - nice car!

Great. I should have clarified NYC / Jersey so I hope that doesn't matter.  In any case, thanks for the info and quick response.
