I like old wagons, but that era Plymouth and Dodge always struck me as being a bit out of proportion. Chrysler Corp. did do some very nice looking wagons over the years though.

Looks like a Travelall, with a Civic being gnawed on by an especially large housecat.

A few years ago, Seatac had ~40 consecutive days with measurable rain. It got old.

Summers here are the best in the country, however.

Ah, my days at Fort Lewis. 7 weeks straight without ever seeing the sun.

The location of that fuel filler door = hardtop convertible.

59 Ford convertible and looks like a 57 Ford parked across the street

Black 57 Ford 2 door HT parked on the street facing away.
  • tmarttmart Member Posts: 2,400
i’ve always thought the 59 Skyliner was the best looking of the three model years. The 57’s trunk lid was too vertical. The 58’s was close.

  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,446
Oops didn't see the 57 was called out.

You're right!! I thought it was a '59 Galaxie Sunliner (soft top) but those don't have fuel door
    on left flank.

If the filler is there it's a Skyliner>

I always thought the Skyliner was kind of neat and fun, but the Sunliner had cleaner lines. IIRC the Skyliner came with a customized suitcase to fit in that little basket trunk?

OK, a quick and pretty easy trivia question. What did the 60 Pontiac lack that every other Pontiac from 59 - 69 have?

    Two piece grille.

Oops, I now see that the '60 Pontiac grilles were made of two pieces. Ok, I'll say that the '60 Pontiacs had no significant separation area between the two pieces of the grille.
  • bhill2bhill2 Member Posts: 2,600
Yeah, that’s what I was thinking of. All the other years had a grille split by some divider.

    It's fuel filler time again...………
Based on the location and the significant projection, (note the long shadow), of the fuel filler pipe, a Dodge.

Did anyone mention the Mercury Monterrey hardtop 1957 parked in front of the 57 Ford? And there's a car in the driveway next to it with a flair on the end of the rear body panel.

That's what they say at Hemmings. A poster there sez the low line Dodge trucks that era had black beds :o I could not find another pic of a truck so equipped
but here's a look at some from the front and the filler pipe is clearly visible>

The car in the driveway looks like a nicer model 57+ Rambler.

I blew up the pic and while it is not definitive, I think I saw a "D" embossed on the tailgate, so I would agree with the Dodge verdict.

    Gotta be a 58 - 60, but a Rambler for sure.

Yes fin - the four wheeled equivalent of the Reliant Robin.

IIRC it had a 25 foot turning circle between kerbs which is the same as a London taxi...

  • Mr_ShiftrightMr_Shiftright Member Posts: 64,481
Yes, the "Del Rio" was only made '57-58 IIRC.

This is a heavily adapted Triumph Dolomite - the Panther Rio. I saw one at the motor show when they were announced in the 70s and I don't recall ever seeing one on the road although they made quite a few.

Pontiac Acadian, likely around 1980. A GM Canada version of the Chevy Chevette and every bit as awful.

It was also sold in the US as the T1000.

I knew @magnette would get it. Only 38 made according to wiki. They had announced 100 sales commitment that never came to pass. More than Jaguar money for a 2L fancy Dolomite didn’t work.
  • magnettemagnette Member Posts: 4,229
There probably are a few of those on the show circuit as they would be able to go to Triumph events and the Dolomite club has a thriving register.

Senior model Wolseley from around 1955.
  • magnettemagnette Member Posts: 4,229

Yes - this would be the 6/90 and it is registered in Oxford City between March and May 1954 which would make sense as the Morris company - which owned Wolseley - was head-quartered in Oxford and this looks like a press or brochure shot.

Of course it is a scaled up version of the Wolseley 4/44 and MG Magnette - all designed by Gerald Palmer who had previously been responsible for the Jowett Javelin...

This is the Wolseley that appears in so many police shows in the 50s and in Miss Marple etc now.. The Met police in London did use them as patrol cars - they were big enough to carry a few bobbies and lug around the enormous radios they had to carry then.

My father had a Wolseley years later (an 18/85) and he said he had always wanted one since he was a boy because he liked the way the badge on the grille lit up with the headlights...
