They didn't offer this in UK as presumably not a market worth building it in RHD - a shame really as they could have sold them through the then existing Opel dealerships.
I know my friend's wife had one once upon a time. IIRC, it had the 2.5 v6 from the mazda 626.
My dad was a big Ford guy growing up. After a disastrous run with 80's Fords and Lincolns I wanted a GM car so I got a 1992 Chevrolet Cavalier Z24. If I could go back I would have waited for the 1993 Probe. The Cavalier was just as bad, if not worse, than the cars I hated.
I believe the Probe was really a Mazda labeled Ford with some varying style and made at the Ford Flat Rock plant along with Mazda's. I did like the Probe. Nice car for the times.
Looks like a Jag XK140 coupe parked near a pedestrian. .
It could be an XK-120 FHC, it's impossible to tell, they were very similar. The other sports car in the pic is a Fiat 1200 Pininfarina Cabriolet. It's interesting that two foreign sports jobs should show up in a photo taken in Akron, Ohio in the late 50s/early 60s. Obviously the "art" films bring out the Furrin' car crowd. The 1200 Cab was introduced in 1959 thus is likely the newest car in this shot. Even on the East Coast they weren't commonly seen.
My first thought was that POTG must be an x-rated version of Splendor in the Grass but that didn't come out until 1961. Picnic sounds like an interesting movie, it was directed by famed director Jean Renoir.

The Customlines had straighter fins, IIRC. That's a Fairlane. That rarely seen U-shaped trim was on Fairlanes and Fairlane 500s had the sleek anodized trim piece Looks like a 2-door hardtop. So it's a Club Victoria.
Thanks. I think they both were relatively rare in the US. My guess is back in those days you'd see more Fiat on the east coast and more Datsun on the west coast. In the Midwest, pretty much forget it, you didn't even see many Opel or Vauxhall models even though they were carried by Buick and Pontiac dealers, and English Ford was even rarer (except for cars that wore a domestic label).

Red 55 Pontiac. Star Chief? Chieftain?
I don't want to be a nitpicker, but I'm old enough to remember '57 Fords. There was no Customline that year. The two smaller (and lower trim) models were Custom and Custom 300, and the larger and more highly trimmed models were Fairlane and Fairlane 500.

That's a correct nit you picked. The name was Custom and Custom 300. We had a Custom 300 in a tan. Four door. I hated it. I don't recall if it was new or used. I can't recall how dad bought it even. It was dowdy in appearance because of the "cheap" fins and dowdy because of the color. Maybe I was repressing the correct name from that era of "abuse" by my father as I was about to get my driver licence and he didn't buy me a Thunderbird to drive.

Cool Kroger billboard too, I didn't know that typeface was used that far back.
1959 movie.
As far as signage goes I like the old "go krogering" billboard. I remember the jingle that used to play on their TV spots.
