Could the taillights be any smaller? Hard to believe that small would be legal.

Well, you were right on the decade anyway :)

Today's pic, Brit plates but Euro looks and LHD, maybe a short run coachbuilt special of a normal car of some kind.

'70s Caprice wagon, probably a boring movie too. ;)

I believe that is an Arnolt-MG Bertone coupe, based on a TD chassis. Early to mid-'50s.

You're on the money AB, it's a 1962 Arnolt-MG, styling by Bertone (via Michelotti) and yes, underneath that slick Italian Coupeness is an MG-TD.

The wagon is a 78 Impala from "Flight of the Navigator" - guess you had to have been there ;)

    Here's another wagon:

The car is an 86+ Electra Estate Wagon. Can’t tell the movie. These wagons were in a lot of 80s early 90s movies.  There was one in the garage in Home Alone

The Buick is from "Adventures in Babysitting", and plays a big role in the movie, it is seen a lot. If you like those (and 80s Elisabeth Shue etc, and don't mind a movie aimed at youth), it's fun, nostalgia.

Here's one from a somewhat forgotten movie that I've always liked:

I just don’t remember that shot from the movie... I certainly remember her driving the wagon in the movie but haven’t seen it for years

I don't know they year so I'll guess around 86 Mercury Colony Park. I think that chrome around the fake wood decal and the carriage lights set it off from its competitors. I recall that it could be a 10 passenger with the dual facing cargo area seats. I actually like it.

We had an '85 Colony Park when I was growing up, the 10 passenger seating was kind of cool since the GM counterparts only had the rear facing seat. Otherwise though I hated that car, we had a good bit of trouble out of it (although it was probably on par for a mid 80's domestic).

I think it is near the beginning as she is driving to the kids' house (the car was her mom's, if I remember right), also been ages since I have seen it.

Yep that's right. The movie (comedy - mild mild drama from the 80s) is pretty obscure, can't recall the last time I saw it in a cable rotation.

Here's another one from the same movie:

Okay it's the one where Neil Simon's wife gets her car stolen and the police come to take report and! a police lieutenant is assigned to investigate the car theft! Funny!

Ace Ventura's car is true sturdy. I have my car parts from Chrysler OEM parts - and my car is still running as smooth.

That's the one, also Matthew Broderick's movie debut, IIRC.

Another car in it, this in a very period color:

Another movie car, just became aware of the model:
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,456
Hard to tell if it has single lights or quad lights - I think if singles, Fiat 2100, if quads, 2300 - Fiat fintail.
  • texasestexases Member Posts: 11,123
    Almost - singles, not a 2100...

Yep (according to the pic's tag)! Post on another forum talking about the current sorry state of Fiat in the US mentioned a friend buying a 'six cylinder Fiat wagon', turned out to be a 2100. I hadn't heard of them.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,456
Those were the highline cars. There was also a fairly elegant 2300 coupe of the same era, not sure how many made it over here.

Oh, that's funny. I actually had that movie in my head on the first pic (because of the house) but didn't think it was possible anybody would know of it. Max Dugan Returns, right?

Yes. Charley Lau passed about 1 year after this pic.

Well now you've gone and done it. Made me think of my favorite Jason Robards film. I thought there were no cars in it, to be honest, but the interwebs has proven me wrong, so here ya go!

Something Wicked This Way Comes. I haven't seen that one in eons, I have a vague memory of a tornado picking up a carousel, or something along those lines.

Prominent car in the background is a mid 20s Dodge, and I am sure there's a Model T hanging around somewhere.

Another Jason Robards movie - car needs more than a make:

The Fiat look alike isn't a Lancia (although the Flaminia saloon would certainly look similar) but is instead a Seat 1500 - this particular one from a 1966 brochure I think. Effectively Fiat at that time provided all the technical support for Seat in Spain but the latter had a very protectionist government (under Franco) and cars had to have local content - although Spain was in EFTA as opposed to the then EEC (forerunner of the EU) and other EFTA countries had some concessions on trade with Spain. The UK was also in EFTA until joining the EEC in 1973.

This isn't a political forum so I'm staying clear of discussion on more recent developments...

Volvo wagon is identified on imcdb as an 81-82 245 GL (as opposed to a DL I guess) by the fancier wheels.
