It is Korean, I think it's a bit smaller than an R-Class. It's a SsangYong Rodius and according to this month's CAR it should be pushed back into the sea. :lemon:

I thought the Dodge had the turn signals below the headlights and the Chrysler models had them above? That is why I guessed New Yorker..

"Too square, too narrow, with buyers too old to notice" is a rather unforgettable quote from a Chrysler exec shortly after that period.

how could you not give Andre 1st dibs on that one?

Well, you only got the easy part. He will probably weigh in with the engine displacement, rear axle ratio, and thread count in the carpet any time now.

It does look like a Chrysler but if you look carefully you can make out the crosshairs in the grille.

You don't know a 64 Chevelle when you see one? I owned about 6. 2 for the street, 4 dirt trackers. :):)

OK, I'm giving up 5159 since no one correctly answered it. It's a 1947 Chevrolet Fleetline.

    Exactly.

I had the '74 full-line Dodge brochure when I was 12 years old. I really wanted a Monaco but would have settled for a Dart.

Yep that's a Mark Nine and I'm sure Mr. S has good reason to dislike it.

That's the Opel by Buick, a rebadged late 70's Kadett IIRC, or was it an Isuzu? :confuse:

Opel by Isuzu. At least the stipes look like the Opel version, and I am not sure if the Isuzu model was ever sold here as an Isuzu.

Yes, a '76 "Buick/Opel by Isuzu." The German Opels had become too expensive for GM to import, so '75 was the last year in the U.S. they were German. Starting in '76, GM imported the Isuzu-made car and called it an Opel, even though Opel didn't make it. In fairness, the car (called the Isuzu Gemini elsewhere) was the mechanical sibling of the Opel Kadett.

One of the more unusual aspects of the car was the ad campaign. Buick ran a series of print ads ranking the car in various criteria against the competition. In the final ad in the series, summarizing the results, Buick concluded that the VW Rabbit had won, and that the Buick/Opel had come in second! :confuse:

DAF 46, mid '70's. I thought that was an old Dutch plate, and knew that DAF once made cars (trucks only now). Google took care of the rest.

Similar, but different. I think that's a Buick Skylark.

  • negativenegative Member Posts: 107
Close, but no cigar. It's a '75 Buick SkyHAWK. The Chevy Monza, Skyhawk and Olds Starfire were almost impossible to distinguish from each other. The only real differences, other than the emblems, were the grilles, but even they weren't that different.

These three were meant to be the first GM models to have rotary engines, but the poor fuel economy of the rotary engine doomed that idea after the Arab oil embargo.
