I remember the Shadow driven by Judge Smails in 'Caddyshack' was that color combination...so it screams 70s to me

Yep. III the Octavia is based on the Golf, what's the Skoda equivalent of the Bora/Jetta?

    Dodge Power Wagon ca. 1965?
  • bumpybumpy Member Posts: 4,425
The 1962 Dodge is one butt-ugly pickup. (1963 and later had amber turn signal bezels.)
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,675
    Bumpy nails it, it's a '62 PW.

  • navigator89navigator89 Member Posts: 1,080
    Correct, it's a 1993 Audi 90.

first generation barracuda. Guess that makes it a '65 or '66? I think it was for '67 that the design changed.

Yep, this was ChryCo's first attempt to cash in on the Pony car craze but...hey, they beat GM by two years.

hey, people thought the original mustang was "sporty", and for the times, I guess they were! So what that the Cuda and Stang were just more stylish bodies on a plain compact (falcon//valient) chassis.

Well... I still think the original Mustang "looks" sporty.. I just never got that from the 'Cuda..

    Now.. second generation... much better..

Remember now... dailup at 14.4 used to be VERY cool too! ;)

The Baraccuda and Charger? both were fastback. At the time they reminded me of a 1950 Chevy (Olds) with their fastback styling. Everything goes in cycles. I thought it was unusual and cool and fast. The notchback of the Mustang had a jaunty look, sort of like the 1979? Sevilles with their bustle back styling. I liked the Mustang notchbacks.

...you obviously haven't seen the Rambler Marlin based on the Classic. It got even weirder in 1967-68 when they put it on the Ambassador chassis.

  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,675
Actually it's '57, IIRC they used that type of turn signaller right up until around '60 before they started using fender mounted repeaters.

Hmmm Andy...You sure? Maybe a '48...but didn't Chrysler change the style on all their models from a prewar looking style to a relatively new style in '49..?

    Opel Kadett...Around 68-70 maybe...
  • oregonboyoregonboy Member Posts: 1,650
They dropped the Kadett name when they introduced that model. I believe it was simply the Opel 1900 wagon. The coupe version became the Manta.

That one is pre-74, could be 71-73??

I think it was known a the Opel 1900 in the USA
but elsewhere it was the Opel Ascona Voyager RS

I had to cheat, so I won't say it

Looks like someone had a toy CTS in front of them for a little inspiration. That could almost be a hint.

My god look at those huge lights.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,675
    No it's not the Yaris.

Morris were still selling Minors with trafficators, as they were called here, until 1959 or so, and Ford still had them on the old Popular until about the same time.....You used to be able to get a pair of stick-on lights to fit to the roof on the Minor, which would wire into the trafficators, as a modification, which made the car look like Mickey Mouse...
  • navigator89navigator89 Member Posts: 1,080
Easy, that's the Geely LG-1. It was on Inside Line news a few days ago. It looks very similar to the Cobalt. The tires seem too small.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,675
Easy for you maybe but it fooled everyone else. ;)

I got the photo from Inside Line :P

    FWIW it's pronounced Jee-lee.

Chrysler (or at least Plymouth) started the 1949 model year with warmed-over '48s. They introduced the new ones sometime during the model year. I think they are referred to as Series 1 and Series 2.

Yep, the NYPD car is the '61 Plymouth, brings back memories. They were still using 'em when I moved to Manhattan in '68.

It can't be an MGA, because it has the low sloopy curved doors... and the MGA's doors are kind of straight.. (I only know because my friend has one, and let me drive it a few months ago).

    Maybe a Triumph?
