    You're skating in the right pond but that is a 1995 BMW 318ti, a model which anchored the low end of the US lineup but offered more utility than the 6 cylinder E36 2-doors by virtue of it's hatchback>



    A similar hatchback was offered in the E46 series and was sold in the US as a Three-series "Compact">

    The surrounding cars all look Eastern European/Russian with one exception. At the far right is a GAZ (Volga) Pobeda. At the far left you can see the headlight of a Mercedes W114/115.

    I think the sedans parked in back are Moskvitchs of the late 50s. I'm thinking the car with the fake Maserati grille is a Lada Riva/Nova.

    The Maserati trident is a red herring - that's a custom job by someone with a lot of spare time, and a sense of humor.

    Good call on the W114/115 headlight, and you are on the right track with the Pobeda - think of that car with a different badge, which also relates to the smaller cars near it.

    Also on the right track with the Fauxerati, but not Fiat-based.

    None of that is very helpful Fin. I'm well aware that the "Maserati isn't really one. Is it perhaps a Moskvitch 412?

    As for the Pobeda I can't find what badges they wore aside from GAZ or Volga. It's interesting that a country with supposedly no interest in a Western-style consumer-oriented automobile industry would have such a plethora of brands and sub-brands.

    Bingo! It's a Moskvitch 412.

    Due to the multiple Syrena at left, I wager the Pobeda is actually a FSO Warszawa, which is effectively the same car, but built in Poland.

    I drove one in mild anger on an autocross course a few weeks ago. It was way more fun than you might think for an SUV.

    I didn't think I'd like it, at all. Because I'm not a fan of the slope-back SUV "coupes". But, this looks more like a hatchback.

    Probably not much of a mystery to folks on here, I'm sure. But I have no idea as to how unusual or common this vehicle is. This puppy looks like something a few professors drove when I was in college.

    A '62 Ford Country Squire that IMHO deserves better. Not an exceptional vehicle, but it should at least be allowed to retain its self-respect.
