I really liked the early Q45 weirdness back then. The exterior door handles and other touches.

That green stripe is the tip-off that it's a 1966 Ford-Lotus Cortina Mk. 1. Only a handful of the Mk. 1s made it to the USA,

70 or 71 Camaro. I liked the 2nd gen Camaro until it started getting plumper several model years into its reign. I think the lines on this car are very clean personally.
  • omarmanomarman Member Posts: 2,702
Yep that looks like another 1970 Camaro, still showing the low back seats. The "banana" shape signal lamps indicate that this one is not a Rally Sport.

That RS was probably my favorite model. I also liked the Dodge Challenger. The 71 Mustang was a disappointment for me.
  • omarmanomarman Member Posts: 2,702
Back then I think I had a lot of favorites from every make but it changed every September.
I didn't like the 1970 MY Camaro until I saw the RS option. Very nice. Instant favorite.

And I still like the '72 Torino 1 year only style:

I always thought that 1 year 72 Torino fastback was sharp looking too, and the front end (like it or not) looks modern in today's market.

Wow. Around the same time that Torino advert was being shot Cessna O-2 Skymasters were used in the forward control mission in Vietnam. I found this pic from the movie Bat 21 but probably not a real military version.

edit to add: Amazing what google can do! Not a recent pic of N2344S but like you said still registered!

Now that's going back in time. The pusher prop concept never really took off (no, don't mean that literally on the runway).

Audi and DKW as part of Auto Union both sported the 4 rings which stood for the makes that combined to form the Auto Union. The other two rings were for Horch and Wanderer, which
were rarely seen in the USA. NSU didn't get a ring when it was absorbed by Auto Union in the mid 60s.

The pictured car is a DKW F89, based on a pioneering prewar FWD design, powered by a 2-stroke engine that eventually found it's way to SAABs (92/93/95).

The DKW F9 and it's descendants had a fantastically convuluted history being produced by IFA in Eisenach (East Germany) and by DKW in Dusseldorf and Zwickau (Western Zone).

    Interesting about the Cessna.

I have a question and I assume there are two engines. What is the sound like sitting in the cabin between the two motors?

I think there is only one engine right behind the cabin, and a twin-boom tail section.

Oops! Never even saw that front prop! Some engineers worked overtime dreaming that up.

It was actually a pretty successful design. They started with the front half of their typical Cessna single engine plane, added the engine in back and the twin booms and the greatly increased load capacity, etc.
  • omarmanomarman Member Posts: 2,702

Louder and more vibration than conventional twin engine aircraft. Doesn't seem to discourage owners who fly them.

For what it's worth people who have flown them really like the Riley Skyrocket versions of the turbocharged Cessna P337. Jack Riley added more soundproofing and at some point offered A/C on later conversions!

For some reason no one has taken on the spiffy blue station wagon. In case you need more of a hint than you get from the four rings in the grille Ill let you in on a secret: It's an Audi.

Yup but not just any 2001 Avant. The big wheels and the wide lower grille are the tells for the RS4 Audi Avant, the high performance version, a very hot car.

Dodge Omni. from the wheels guessing it is a GLH (Shelby). Mid-80s. Taillights look odd though.

Mid 60s Triumph TR-4 ('62-'65) very similar to the '66 TR-4A I owned. The wheels are aftermarket copies of Minilite mags probably a lot cheaper than the real things. ;)
