    Maybe 1950 Plymouth, x2?

Could be, or maybe a Kaiser/Frazer

If a car isn't actually in production yet, can it be a "mystery car"?

    1968 Imperial Crown I think
  • stickguystickguy Member Posts: 53,450
at least 5 gen 1 Capris. I like those.

and top right, the nose of a white Toyota Corona (I think it's a Corona, hard to get a good look at the grill angle).

I like the Dart sport with the nostrils next to the imperial.

Some fun cars on this lot.

And next the the Dart is a Cougar, I think. My Duster had those (fake) hood scoops, too.

Couple of Continental Mark IV mixed in with the Capris, for maximum contrast.

Face on the Z is a little funny, but overall, looks pretty cool. Nice to see the Nissan corporate bucktooth theme not showing its face there.

Circa 1962 or thereabouts, not sure of the location. A nicely composed shot that expands well:

Looks like somewhere in DC. There's a white '60 Ford 4 dr on the right about halfway down next to a 60-ish Rambler

60 Ford compared with the cigar T-Bird in the front row shows the design similarities in the front end.

At left behind a 58 Mercury wagon, maybe a 105E Anglia? A decade later there would be plenty of imports.

I don't recall it from before. I just found it online this morning and it didn't seem familiar.

I took a quick headcount of the vehicles by manufacturer and was surprised that Ford and GM each had about the same number of vehicles represented here. On a quick tally I got 15 for each.

far right near the back is a red Rambler wagon
to the right of the centre road third car ahead of the taxi is a (59?) DeSoto
And at the corner of that exit is a green Studebaker

Nice photo. I needed a deviation from watching Henri outside my windows.
At the right front - 1951 Kaiser.
    Also in there - 1949 DeSoto - 1949 Buick - 1949 Cadillac.

    49 Oldsmobile behind the Kaiser.
The cab on the left of picture is a style of Checker that they adopted in 47, through to about 54.

And that delivery van back on the left, being passed by a Ford cab looks really ancient - is it some sort of Mail van?

Hope this storm Henri passes you safely - we were watching the news yesterday evening and they said it was approaching your coastline
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,464
Yep, looks like a US Mail truck, and it would have been relatively ancient then - I guess USPS running vintage vehicles (many still in service today date from the 90s) isn't a new thing. Appears to be based on a heavy duty Ford platform, probably an AA.

Opel kadette next to pinto woody wagon. Gremlin X top center. VW thing lower left.

And I think topmost right, next to a Laguna, is a Triumph TR4

It strikes me that the years just prior to this picture being taken were a good time to be a VW dealer.

That same period was probably a good time to be a Ford dealer. I count 10 Mustangs here and that is just those that are easy to ID.

Nice mix in Omaha. At kind of center right I see a 63 Galaxie fastback, with a 68-69 Chevelle with racing stripes to the right of it, and for contrast, a Datsun B210 beside that. At left in the same row, with a Beetle between them, is a 69-70 Mustang fastback maybe a Mach I, and a Mustang II fastback to the right, more contrasts.

A couple of late 60's AMCs there. An Ambassador in the second row, facing away (next to the Mustang), and a Rebel in the third row facing the camera next to the Karmann-Gita..

Not sure if you got that range in North America -they were far rarer than their smaller sisters..

Also an early-mid '60s AMC wagon, perhaps a Classic, in the last row 4 from the right. Possibly the car of one of the construction workers.

I don't think the Austin A70 range ever came here, maybe Canada.

Austin thought they would sell many A70's in the US but it didn't happen - not least because it was a 4-cylinder engine.
They did sell well in Australia and parts of Africa - they were tough cars...

You can tell the A70 Hereford from the A40 Somerset by the chrome trim under the radiator grille - the Somerset had two small grilles on front wings, the oval badge on the side of the bonnet on A70 near the screen and the numberplate was below the back bumper on the A70 but above it on A40 - plus the rear window was small on A40...

3 behind the Sprite looks like a 60 Ford wagon, and I think I see a couple other 60 Fords. Newest car in the pic a 61?

1 behind the truck at front center maybe a Hillman Minx.
