Courtesy of Shorpy.com, here is a shopping center parking lot in Chevy Chase, MD circa 1959. A surprising number of plebian vehicles considering it is a Lord & Taylor store. Sadly, just a few months too early for any 1960 Fords! Expands to enormous size.

I see two Cadillacs, one has a/c. Note the air scoop at the top of the left rear quarter panel. Also two Lincoln’s.

By the quality of the parking efforts there, it could very well be Fairbanks, Alaska! :(

That diagonal-light Lincoln convertible had to have been uncommon even then.

For andy's SF pic, older car in motion heading left appears to be a 39-40 GM sedan, white older car parked at curb behind it looks like a just-prewar Mopar sedan.

You'd be surprised how many well-off people actually drove plebian cars. My Grandpop, who could've easily afforded a Cadillac, always drove plain-jane Chevrolets when he was younger. I remember a black 1964 Biscayne and a gold 1967 Bel Air. His last car was pretty nice - a 1989 Chevrolet Caprice Classic Brougham.

    I had a 1962 Fairlane 500 2 door. It was a wreck.
    Literally.
It had been hit in the rear, and a local body shop was
rebuilding it. Dad saw it and decided it would replace
my 1957 Ford. He asked what color I wanted and I
chose red. It was white with a red interior originally.

Just a few years before my time. Color appears close to mine, maybe a shade lighter. That one appears to be a 4cyl car. Maybe a little exotic in central GA in 1962, but no doubt Atlanta had at least one dealer then, and possibly Macon, too.

At Lord & Taylor the grey sedan in front of the 58? Lincoln is a 52 Dodge and the wagon bottom left corner is a Mercury - perhaps a 58 ? Voyager

I’m thinking ‘68 or later with the side marker lights.

I was thinking 60 as well. Those thin whitewalls were still pretty cutting edge in 62, I think.

Correct on the car. But they all had those vents. The supercharged one came out in North America for 1988.

I owned an '85 from new. What a fun car.

Yup, that's a Gen. 1 Toyota MR2, a highly regarded sports car of it's day, featuring a mid-engine lyout and a five speed manual.

Nice MGA - looks like the later version rear lights - is it a 'Mk2'?

A while back I posted a picture and we had a look at an invalid carriage briefly

I've just come across this picture with no idea who organised the event but it depicts a group of these - a couple of different versions too - apparently in some sort of race at Crystal Palace in south London. The plates would indicate 1966 as the year

There were car racing events in the grounds in the 60s but the local authority stopped it later although they have had a couple of hill climb trials in the park back in the late 90's and a few car shows too - those will have stopped now as the political climate in London is not in favour of car events..

No - the Reliant Robin - for all its faults - was capable of use as a basic car within reason, whereas these were single seater disabled tricycles and really weren't anything more than minimal transport for the disabled.

Graham Hill tried one once when he was recovering from a racing accident and said after one lap of some circuit that it was the scariest thing he had ever driven - having said that, I would imagine he was driving it a bit more rapidly than the intended end users.

Nope not a Bristol although some had Bristol engines while others used Ford Zephyr or AC engines. Theis car was a for-seat bersion of the Ace but used a different name,
